The second disk contains additional languages. When you choose a different language the installer will ask you to insert the second disk.

Greetings
I'm so curious! Can any one tell me why I have 2 DVD'S? I bought the the standard PC version, in the box are 2 DVD'S one marked Game Disc One the other Game Disc Two. When I installed the game it fully completed from Disc one and I am am now playing the game successfully. I t never asked for a second disc during install. If now i put that second disc into the pc it refuses to do anything saying that it "Failed to authenticate disk please try again."
The second disc is inside a black cardboard EA wallet.
What is the second disk for?I actually also had the same thing when I bought Mass Effect but never bothered to follow it up.
DVD2 is for installing game with other languages than english.

I took a look through the 2nd disk. Best I can figure out is that it has the files to install the game in a non-english language.

AFAIK it's for multilanguage versions. If you just install the English language files it isn't used.

When I insert Game Disc Two, the game launch window comes up just the same way as if I put in Game Disc One. I guess it will ask for Disc 2 later in the game.

There are into some file relating different languages. Probably BioWare insert in the first DVD the common language, or the most aspected as used. And in the other DVD the remaining supported languages. So a the end most of the players will not using the second DVD during their istallation. Instead a minor part have to do the switch to refer the installation to their language.

I think it's the same thing like in Mass Effect, for changing language.

Depending on where you live, the game may have shipped with voiceovers in multiple languages. It couldn't all fit on one disc so there are probably just a few other languages on the second disc.

It's language/sound files for foreign languages - just explore the dvd to see what's there.
