You can punch her in the first game too.

But I digress, technically you kill alot of women in this game and it is entirely possible to punch them all to death. Easier in fact when playing as an infiltrator and cloaking. For the far off ones just use concussive shot, thats like punching them with a gun.

I must admit I am a bit troubled by all
the enthusiasm for "sexual equality" expressed as punching women. Part
of the reason there's still a social prohibition for male-on-female
violence is that this is still a much more common and problematic
direction of violence than the reverse.

An even bigger and more
obvious issue in this particular case, of course, is that it's not just
(potentially) male-on-female violence, but a physically powerful person
assaulting an unarmed, untrained, unprotected person. Nobody here bats
an eye when you actually kill an armed and armored female merc (of which
there are several in this game). Consider the context here.

This
is exactly as I feel. And, while I may have
chosen to hit the reporter on my renegade Shepard, it was only because
it fit the personality I wanted to embody on this playthru. I am female
and I only play female characters, but I wouldn't put a female Shepard
on any lesser footing than a male Shepard. The game doesn't either, so
therefore arguing that it's ok for a fem shep, but not a male, to punch a
woman is moot.

An armed and armored war veteran and ship
commander assaulting an unarmed civilian in a non combat area is
certainly renegade, but I feel it is a
dangerous step over a line. I mean, sticks and stones right? Is this 4th
grade recess or what? Why should Shepard care what this woman says?
She's doing a job, her job, the same as Shepard. Her actions have no
bearing on how the plot unfolds, she just happens to make "disingenuous
assertions".

And lastly, I think it would behoove the obviously male posters in this thread, claiming a punch in the face is some sort of welcome sign of equality, should think twice before making such assumptions.

lol Its funny people **** about tis but if it was a man being ounched it would be fine, sexism is treating others differently based on gender, so by only complaining about hitting a woman your being sexist. No complaints about half the other stuff renegade shepard dose.

Some ME1 players probably predicted that the renegade interrupt would be to punch her, given that you can do it in ME1. They could have improved it by having Shepard clench his/her fist while the screen zooms in on it. Then it's pretty obvious what he/she would do in the renegade interrupt.

Also, punching innocent people like is equally bad whether the attacker is male or female. It's not like the woman is always in the right. Of course, people seem to forget that women can hit other women.

This.
On top of it, it's always amazing to see how much people like to paint themselves as the internet though guy. I'm pretty sure most of the ones that love to don that coat of paint would actually cower in fear just at the idea of really hitting anything that would have the slightest chance of hitting back.

The sole fact that some people think that someone that's doing nothing else than talking "had it coming" is easy proof on how basement dwelling got them detached from reality.

The Mass Effect universe is enlightened enough that Commander Shepard is free to punch whoever the hell he wants and achieve the same level of jerkiness regardless of gender.

1) IRL hitting anyone just because, is wrong.

2) It is a video game.

3) Who here has an issue with beating the info out of the suspect to help Thane's son?

The irony in this post is astounding.

At any rate; Shepard can punch women all he likes. There's nothing  any MORE wrong with punching women, specifically. Punching people in general is wrong. (Who don't deserve it.)

I doubt this thread would even fly if it were about Shepard punching any other male character.

I wish there was a renegade interrupt to punch the OP in the face for whining over something like this.

I live in California, there are no basements here.

It wasn't sexist. It was personal. She deserved it really.

Also remember the Shepard that hit her had an equal chance to be female herself.

i agree and i doubt u would be as surprised if he punched a man, women fought for equality and i think they should have it

Equality in rights doesn't mean automatic physical equality. That's two pretty different cans of worms there.

You seem to forgot that in basiclaly every physical sport out there men and women are kept separate. Care to take a guess on why?
or maybe you think that's "sexist"? lol

Ok so women should receive all the benefits of being a man, but they're gonna go ahead and keep the benefits of being a woman.

i dont simply mean rights but in all respects, i think that women can do anything equally as well as a man therefore one shouldnt be surprised if a women is punched and truly deserves it cuz that reporter really did deserve it, and why are u surpirsed alot of the ppl in the game that u kill are women too lol, im sure you would rather be punched then have a clip emptied into your chest.

I didn't see a woman.

I saw someone that needed to be punched in the mouth.

Hard.

That's equality right there. Not by the contents of their pants, but the content of their character!
