This comment is dumb, since the game didn't allow me the (much more logical) choice to punch the camera.
Shepard punching a woman? Seriously?

Though with some of the arguements here we will definately have petition websters here in the near future to re-define chivalry.

Punching a camera (when you're wearing combat gloves) is what i'd define a perfect renegade action. Punching an unarmed woman, in the other hand, it's just the perfect jackass action.

You should probably look up what a strawman argument is before just throwing that term out there. I responded directly to an argument that you presented. I did not present your argument for you.

Let me reiterate that your definition of Renegade Shepard is ultimately, completely worthless.
Obvious troll anticipation; Mine is also worthless, only BW's definition matters.

Your response suggests you don't think the specifics of the situation matter.
So each case is decided not by its own factors, but by what is generally true?
Since your 'truth' is only general and not absolute, it is fallacious to apply it to all situations.

My definition of renegade shepard is also worthless. The only one that matters is Bioware's. And clearly, they disagree with you.

The specifics of the situation perfectly match the statistically common scenario. She's half as big male shepard and weighs half as much.

But yeah, with the male shepherd, I just let her talk, then I destroyed her with my answer. Which was just as satisfying, to be honest.

Never said you were not allowed to formulate an opinion, however you can not say that it is not a rightful renegade action.

then again, Im born and raised from a culture where the only difference between sexses is purely political, that said I'm personally more offended by a male who is too affraid to try for one reason or another " should I have provoked it that is" if it's done without provocation, it's a douche move, regardless if your decking a male or female![]()
but thats my take.
This.
I was being a bit too catty a few years back and got hit in the face by some loser whose name I don't recall. Even with my attitude, I don't really feel I deserved that, and I had a black eye for a week and a half, but he violated that rule up there at the top. I didn't fall down, and I almost cried, I mean, he really decked me.. and as a woman, you don't walk around expecting to get hit by men.. like I said though, he didn't put me down, and probably didn't expect a meaningful retaliation. Once I was through the initial shock and pain, the five years of kickboxing class kicked in. Kicked his ass so bad. Shock and all that quickly gave way to just being really ****ing pissed lol. I just kicked the living **** out of him.
Only fight I've ever been in aside from with my sister when we were little.
In hindsight, I wish that entire situation had gone differently, I hate violence, and I'm just glad there was no police report. Could have been arrested, I was acting in self defense, but went over the line too.
*shrug*
Closer to topic: Even on paragon playthroughs, I punch her every time.

If you worry about the situation or continuity of the story, I will explain the context of renegade Shepard's actions (if he saved the Council). Essentially, she is using the deaths of 2400 people to justify Shepard is a "crappy" person with no regard for what they did or how many lives were saved. She put her own agenda over the respect for families of those alive and lost during that battle with the reasoning that their lives or deaths meant nothing. If that does not deserve a punch, then I don't know what does.

You avoided answering for the situation I provided, though.
Is there a difference between beating up a man or a woman that are of equal strength?
If you know statistics, then you know that the distribution for strength of both genders will exist along a normal curve, which means there will be overlap, even if the median of one is greater than the median of the other.

Not really, in that case there are OTHER factors in play. And that's that the journalist wasn't physically threatening and she didn't have combat training and didn't wear combat armor. This doesn't mean that the fact that there's a difference in gender, weight and physical build can't add up to make it even less acceptable.

It's not like the reporter stayed on the ground, huddle up and started crying. I really think that was just there for sh*ts and giggles. I wouldn't take it personally.
*Edit* I've also been in abusive relationships (had my a*ss kicked pretty hard by men), and I didn't take any offense to it at all. It saw it more as a shock factor and to just laugh it off.

I feel this this entire thread is a troll attempt because if the OP is dissatisfied with the renegade interrupt, don't do it then. If you are angered that you even have the choice of making that decision, then resell the game or better yet make a mod to your liking. If you are angry of the portrayal of male on female violence, go help at a woman's battery shelter because the reality of it is more important than any work of fiction. If you worry about the situation or continuity of the story, I will explain the context of renegade Shepard's actions (if he saved the Council). It's obviously a troll post, been that way since the very first post.
OP's view are not even revealed in this thread, it's a classic move, pick a subject that most people will try to defend and/or troll you back and get a few unsuspecting poster caught in the crossfire.

If the wrongness of the action is based solely on the disparity of physical strength between the two parties, then there is no reason to include gender.
If this alone is your intention then what difference is there between a 200 lb man that can benchpress 300 lbs beating up
Person A: a 150 lb male that can benchpress 40 lbs
or
Person B: a 150 lb female that can benchpress 40 lbs?
Looks like you need to be repeated things to get it. Let me reiterate.Hitting people is wrong.
Hitting weaker people is even more wrong.
Hitting weaker people that are not physically threatening you is even more wrong.
Women are generally physically weaker and generally weigh less (ever thought on the reason why there are weight classes in boxing? It's not just because it's hard to get people of different sizes on camrera you know?) than men.
Do your math.
It's up to you to make your own judgment call on whether something is right or wrong, but you can't presuppose that everyone has to or does adhere to the same moral code as you do.

If you knew statistics then you would know if the means were far enough apart there would be extremely little overlap, and if you dare try to teach me statistics I will laugh at you because I know more.
