Fighting Morrigan's mother when she is the dragon made me cry.
She took out my party in under a minute. Anybody that had success what level were you when you did it because my party was levels 10-9.

I was level 14 and by then I already killed the other HIgh dragon and made dragon bone armor, Alisteir and Rogue were both wearing cheaper Dake skin armors but all armors had some sort of fire damage reduction. I made Wynne hang out wayyy at the back and just heal them up.

It's not wise to take her on unless you really think you have what it takes. I don't think she scales. Thankfully there are other ways to deal with her other than killing her, if you're game.

I had Sten, my PC 2H warrior and Alistair gang up on her while Wynne hung back healing and buffing. I was playing hard and around level 13 or 14; Flemeth killed Sten quickly, and finished off the PC and Alistair when she was around 10%. Wynne finished her with good old arcane bolts. It was a pretty hair raising battle, but very fun.

Would lying to Morrigan about not killing her mother have any impact on the game? Immediate or later on?

For extra laughs try fighting her in a playthrough where you killed Wynne.
Dog and Sten just kind of instantly exploded, but somehow Zevran was able to live long enough to chain chug potions whenever she felt like eating him instead of my tank, and my tank was beefy enough to live through a grab. I was level 13.
Oh, Zevran did have the drake scale armor on.

Sometimes, when my party members anger me, I feed them to Flemeth. It's the best punishment I've found for them, so far
