I keep seeing lots of posts about blowing up the Collector base and sticking it to TIM.

I played a paragon with some renegade choices where they felt appropriate, but when I got to the end and TIM spoke about the base and what the technology could represent, I found myself agreeing.  I'm not sure leaving it in the hands of TIM is a great idea, but perhaps I can sell him out to the Alliance or the council later.  Then again, it's not like the council or anyone else gives two craps about the Reapers, so perhaps it's for the best.

I just wonder if this is setting up for humanity to evolve into the next set of Reapers in a few hundred millennia.  There's so much danger in letting a facility with the ability to produce reapers remain intact, but much of the current technology is based around the old stuff like the mass relays and humanity (and the other races) didn't get to the citadel by blowing up that found technology.

i saved an extra set with the base intact, just to hold onto it and see what happens in me3.

but the evil grin on TIMs face at the end when hes looking at it tells me something REALLY bad is going to happen

If you sick with Paragon all the way, it's kind of implied between the lines that TIM would be totally okay with using it to create a Reaper. That's enough for everyone but my Cerberus Lapdog character to blow it up.

I saved the base, and gave it to TIM, I also let the Council die in an attempt to destroy Sovereign before he could possibly do even more damage to the Citadel, as well as to preserve as much of the military as I could, I also saved Loghain, put Anora as Queen, and did all sorts of other dastardly things for the good of the universe as a whole.

These are all first game playthroughs mind you.

Yea, I'm going to have one where I destroy it, but I was just wondering if it was anyone else's first choice.

I almost did it my first time, but I couldn't make myself go through it, was too dedicated to Paragon Shep. It was probably the only decision I really stopped to analyze though.

I did it on my paragon infiltrator. I WANT her to have to deal with the implications of a big decision in the next game. It also seemed logical to keep the base, TIM's evil sneer aside.

I'm gonna destroy it on my Renegade just to stick it to TIM though.

It was one of two I had to think about for a bit, the other being what to do with the heretic geth.

I wasn't sure what to do with it.... TIM almost made me want to keep it....

But in the end I blew it up- wouldn't sacrifice my shep's convictions

Not my first time, because my character wouldn't stand for that kind of BS. But my Renegade Femshep was probably thinking the same thing. Morals aren't going to beat the reapers, (in her opinion) military advantages are.

So it all depends on how you're roleplaying.

Though, if it was ACTUALLY me. I'd bomb the base, not even because OH WHAT THEY DID WAS SO HORRIBLE, but rather because any Reaper technology seems to do bad things eventually no matter what, like the dead Reaper from earlier in the game and Sovereign (who was originally inactive BTW, before Saren showed up) from ME: Revelation and ME1

I played Renegade first time through, so of course i kept it. Plus its cool because as it blows up, its all blue instead of the traditional red/orange blast.

I thought about it as well, even on my Paragon Shep. There are thousands of Reapers out there, we're going to need as much help as possible... But then again, we wouldn't have lost the entire crew if it weren't for us trying to use Reaper technology to our advantage with the IFF. Necessary, but still, I would never trust that technology, especially not that amount, and to use against it's creators. Too risky.

i actually have to congratulate biowear they are the first company every to make me take more than 2 min(the decision actually took 10 min of debating with myself) it was really hard, but i figured out from a military perspective( i do play a lot of military games so i get the idea) that the reapers are going to come in and take the center of the galaxy very quick allowing them a secondary base of operation if they cant get in the citadel.

I kept it intact. My shepard is one who is paragon, but decidedly pro-human... until it came to Tali.

Played a character who was like 4:3 paragon:renegade in the end and was pretty determined to blow the thing up until the bastard pulled the line on her how they'd used the technology to rebuild me and how it helped to avert Collector threat in the end, and how valuable in fight the even better technology could be. Which was quite thinly veiled "you own us" but at the same time a too valid point to discard based just on distrust for him. He's slick, i'll give him that much.

Of course now i have this nagging suspicion his effort to resurrect Shepard was actually gamble to get hands on that Collector base. And he knows that i might know. But will worry about it when the time comes. For now i got to hang up on him, just like on the Council in the old good times.

Kept it intact. It just didn't make any sense to me to throw it away. If I could have let the alliance or the council know I might have, but as is, there's no way I'm going to turn down the chance to learn more about our enigmatic enemy.

I kept it. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? TIM uses the technology to turn himself into a reaper and takes over the entire galaxy...? Let's hope not.
