My default party is Miranda and Tali (Drone Spec) with my Adept. Although having Legion and Tali and two drones was pretty darn amusing in the Collector base....

Always brought Garrus and Grunt. Grunt definately took some hits, so he was my meat tank. :)

Garrus just sniped and walked away. Couldn't get any better.

Grunt most of the time and Mordin is also useful. Grunt is a Walking tank and with the Pureblood Evolution is even better. Mordins Incinerate and Cryo skill are invaluable.

I fell madly in love with Thane's warp skill. I can't recall how many times my Vanguard was just coming out of a charge and about to be sideswiped by a hostile when he would fire one off and take it out. Same for timely sniper shots. I love having a sniper in my team and his AI was always good about keeping out of the way.

Both Mordin (cryo/incinerate, huzzah!) and Garrus (well balanced) seem to compliment my Vanguard and Thane well. I switch them out quite a bit, but I'm thinking about giving Miranda/Shep/Thane a whirl. An extra warp and her squad bonuses make her a tempting addition.

Legion with his unlimited ammo custom Widow is my favorite.

I'd look over at an enemy just in time to see its head pop.

Tali, Zaeed and Grunt rotate for the other spot(s before Legion is available).

When you say "combat" do you mean strictly shooting things?

Because Zaeed and Garrus are my combat squad for soldier, no other party will do. Put them both on Assault Rifle and we RUIN EVERYTHING with 2 vindicators and a revenant all blasting them at once. Put them both on sniper and leaving cover is a deathwish for whatever is across the room.

I take Grunt with me on missions where I need somebody to cover a chokepoint. Fortification and a claymore make Grunt a defensive beast.

The only time I take anybody else really is if I KNOW there is a mission with a buttload of synthetic enemies (Legion + Tali) or where there are no shielded enemies (Samara + Jack).

I always took Garrus and Miranda, because they both have amazing skills, and I also happen to really like both of their characters. As others have said, Miranda's Heavy Warp and Cerberus Tactician are absolutely amazing. Slam is pretty much endless fun as well.

Garrus was great for Overload (I put points in his so I could put Miranda's points elsewhere) and he has great weapons.

I powered through hardcore with grunt and tali.

Tali's drone is so useful.

I've noticed that i always have Miranda in any squad-constellation, not just for that Ass Effect 2 but for combat-efficiency (Overload/Warp and SquadBonus).

She improves any Squad.

I usually go Tali and Garrus but switch it up to Tali and Legion for 3x combat drone :)

Thaone is quite useful. Gave him Throw Field and Heavy Warp. And great aganst opponents near ledges (even on Insanity, after a few shots/incinerate blast). and warp is good against armored opponents.

usually had garrus as the 2nd teammate, for his Cuncussion Blast and AoE Overload.

this setup was on insanity btw, with my infiltrator. on lower difficulties I usually mix a bit, to have some variety.

I like having Miranda around plus she's good, though you got to get some variety in there so I try and mix her out on occasion. Usually I try to break even in soldier/biotic/tech specializations (the way you could in ME1), but that seems less impt in ME2 which I appreciate.  I like this whole Pull > Warp > Explosion tactic, but it's really limiting if you adopt a party around that and you're not one of the biotics.

In MEI, it was Liara for combat as well... she was irreplacable.

In MEII its Tali and Garrus and then switches to Tali and Samara later in the game.

Tali has all around best utility in the game IMO... and then I use Garrus for overwatch. Switching to Samara later on for a powerhouse and I play overwatch with the 'widow.'

All of the characters have their strengths. I guess it depends on which class you play as, and how your two squadmates compliment your style.

My main Shepard is a soldier, so I usually go with Grunt for the double impact of brute force, and then back that up with a techie like Tali or Mordin. Fighting with Grunt actually makes you feel unbeatable because he gets so loud and angry in the middle of combat.

I also used Thane quite a lot. That guy is pretty brutal.

I can't wait to play as my other Shepard, who's an adept, and get some biotic carnage going on with Jack and Samara.

Turn off the ability for your squad to use abilities on their own.  Sure it requires a bit more management but you will always have your cooldowns ready when you need them.  This will make biotic Warp combos much easier to manage.

Miranda. Warp and Overload are very nice for taking down any resistance you meet ... which I might add I think the whole shield/armor/barrier thing is the new way of how to balance your squad from I need tech with decryption and electronics for locks in ME1.

Depends! Fighting Synthets? My Engineer team (Engi Shep, Tali, Legion) can take them out no problem. Three drones and three super hacked ememies.

In my first playthrough, I often didn't know what I was getting into, which meant that Miranda was used quite often. Warp + Overload means that you can get through just about any defense. Squad damage boost was just icing on the cake.

Squad damage/health boost is very useful imo mostly with grunt which makes him that much more of a tank

I always use Garrus. As a soldier I use Garrus and Jack because of her biotics and warp ammo.

situational, but its between miranda(protection stripping/passive boost), grunt (ability to survive while everything is targeting him), zaeed (with top passive ability combined with top weapon upgrade he has +100% dmg!!!!!!!) and garrus (good all rounder).

For me its Tali and Miranda. I love Tali for her combat drone and how it normally distracts the "big" enemies. And Miranda for her Warp and Overload.
