First off, i cannot believe that i am the only Femshep that was holding out for Tali.  It was incredible that our efforts in the forums preceding the release of ME2 led to Tali being a romanceable squadmate, but "only" with Maleshep? is that acceptable? I don't play as Maleshep, I was part of the Tali movement, how have i (we) been forgotten? why have my sisters (and brothers, i thought) abandoned me?

To make matters worse as I'm sure many of you know this is how ME2 plays out for a Femshep wishing to romance Tali:

everything proceeds as though it will be a possiblilty. you help her with her mission, it's emotional, she hugs you. you talk with her later and she tells you that she never met anyone she wanted to share her suit space with until she met you.  there are no two ways about this. she was going for it with you. *oops* must have been a programming glitch to have let the dialogue go that far, cause it goes no further. it was like bioware personally punched me in the face on this one.

I staked my whole Mass Effect experience on the hope that Tali would be romanceable with my Femshep. I stuck with all the other Tali Fans in the old forums and now they've abandoned me and it seems there is no one who feels the same way. How can this be? This so-called "The Gay Warden" is running his thread with occasional comments about how he thinks bisexual women are "yucky" and that is why he doesn't want Tali to be Femshep romanceable even though he is ultra-promoting Tali for ME3 (i loathe his name and approach).

I know this thread will be eaten alive with Tali haters that will love to gloat over my misfortune since all the other Tali fans got their way, but i had to post it just to see if maybe someone felt the same way.  I feel betrayed, discarded and utterly dissapointed.  It would be interesting to see if i am in fact alone or if someone out there eaither feels the same or can empathise.

Now that i think about it all, i wish Bioware would have the nerve to just let players romance whoever they wished regardless of sex or race (assuming they were "romanceable options" to begin with).  Am i wrong for feeling that way?

No, you are not the only lesbian/bisexual person to want Tali.

Yes, this thread is going to attract (what is for you) unwanted attention.

The same-sex issue is SO past meaningful on this forum.

If it helps I am sure Fem Shep and Tali can move into a loft together on the New Quarian homeworld as best friends forever. They will even get the pendants, perhaps a tattoo. Honestly this would probably make everyone happy.

Yes.

Is every decent-hearted person bisexual and looking for a relationship right at this very moment? I figured now that Tali's been "assigned" to my ship by the Quarians, her and femshep are heterosexual life partners.

Well, it would ruin the story because Tali just isn't lesbian. It's like forcing Garrus to be gay... which is a no. :(

Next people will want to be romancing Legion. (I wanted to romance Tali too, but I know it can't be, so I'll just wait for Liara! )

Do not want personally. (my Shepard was pretty distrustful of aliens in first part, in second kind of grew to care about Tali as of younger sister type; teased her about the suit link line)

Wouldn't lose hope though. As they say third time is the charm so maybe you get your wish in ME3..?

Er...no. I don't feel the same as you did for Tali. Granted, I love Tali and so does my femShep but...physical love? No. Tali's hug doesn't have to be looked at as a 'I want you Shepard' kind of thing, nor does her suit linking comment. I took it as a 'Shepard, I trust you with my life, your my best friend and like a sister.' Most Quarians never get to experience what it's like to have a sibling, with femShep, I think that's how Tali feels, she starts to feel what it would be like if she had a sister. I found that very suitable and really helped me bond even more to Tali.

I do support same sex relationships in games, but to make Tali and fxf option just seems like a cop out, unless they could find a viable reason for Tali to be lesbian. Then again, I'm also the kind of person that sees love not needing to have a sexy time scene but hey.

I just need...more reasoning for someone to be gay/lesbian. It's a big choice y'know? If they had a very believable reasoning as to why Tali swung both ways then sure, I'd totally test the waters with a femShep.

I don't think your wrong for feeling that way, I only don't agree with most MAKE THIS CHARACTER GAY NOW is because, well they were never gay to begin with and...well, this is where Bioware fails in my opinion as they just toss out characters who swing both ways for no reason just to make the gay/lesbian players happy, when they really should be working hard on making a strictly mxm/fxf character with a lot of depth rather than just a stupid cop out bi character.

That demanding that every single character in the universe wants to bone you regardless of character alignment or gender is idiotic

Playing a Male Shepard to romance Tali isn't so bad. My third playthrough will be an Infiltrator Male to likely romance Tali AGAIN as I saw the Youtube's of the other romances and while Jack's is endearing Tali is still number 1!

Not everyone is bisexual, and Tali simply isn't one. I prefer playing Shepard as female and I generally go for lesbian romances if there are any, but I don't see this as a "lack".

see, this is funny to me when people say this. "It would ruin the story" HA! the romances are "optional", do you understand that word? "optional"? every person that plays the game can pick any number of romances whether heterosexual, homsexual or ambiguous (asari) and that absolutely does not affect the main story line.

It's not "forcing" anything.

It's just optional, so I guess it doesn't matter that Tali's not an option then. Glad we got this settled.

It is optional, but it does effect the storyline because each character is part of the storyline. Half of the game is OPTIONAL, Mass effect is a game that relies on choice and by getting to know your characters and maybe romancing, it mixes with the story. Like at the end, when Shepard stares at the picture of your past love interest before she/he goes to the suicide mission it enhances the story.

I think the reasoning might be in fact she's actually entirely different species. It's kind of like, say there's a species which has females who look like pink balls and males who look like blue balls (bad pun) ... and then you go and say a heterosexual human male can only be attracted to pink balls. It's a stretch but hopefully can give the idea of what i'm getting at -- for a quarian the humans can be so different species there doesn't have to be sexual attraction there at all, or if there is any it doesn't have to be limited to any particular gender based on our own wiring.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said right up until the last paragraph. I think that if they can create beautifully crafted heteromances, then why couldn't they create a beautifully crafted homoromance? I agree with not having a cop-out, but I don't know if you played DA:O...I didn't think Zevran or Leliana were cop-outs at all. While Zevran gave the impression of being easy, he actually wasn't. You had to wait until the very end almost to get him to admit he loved you, and if you miss the correct cue, he won't admit it at all. If they did it for DA:O, they can certainly do it for ME. And I'm not talking about Liara. In my mind, she doesn't really count as a legit F/F relationship. Don't really want to go into the reasoning as that would just create a wall of text.

The majority of Tali, Garrus, and Thane lovers were straight, and never gave a rat's [backside] about those who wanted a same-sex romance with them.

I notice that Tali and Jack both have conversations that suggest they might be interested in FemShep, but nothing comes of it. Samara has the 'I'm interested... but no' conversation.

as much as im probably gonna get flamed for this ( i usually try to avoid these types of posts) what ever the sexual affiliation of your shepard, the supporting cast are written the way bioware intends. as much as you may agree/dissagree with their decisions, they're the ones in control. If for whatever reason they feel that Tali, is only hetero, then we're just gonna have to accept it, just like in real life, their are gonna be ppl who we have feelings for that aren't reciprocated.
I do however think that considering their past games, that there should have been at least one choice for a same sex relationship.

edit: Short version, Shepard you create - Everyone else bioware creates.

well, DBHolm. i can totally respect your comments.

However, i don't feel as though Tali would have to be a bisexual in "my gaming experience". she might be lesbian, hetero or just an alien that is different enough from our species to not get hung up on separate-species gender issues, i don't know............but, the point i was making is that we are supposed to decide what our experience is in Mass Effect. It's always been about choices with Mass Effect and Bioware in general.

As Femshep, you can get Tali to do everything but say she loves you... platonically. And the whole different species attraction thing where it's not dependant on gender only really works on species that don't look so humanoid. From what little we've seen, the only thing separating Quarians from Humans is leg joints... and possibly glowing eyes.

And if you really want to get into the ambiguity of writing, maybe Tali IS bisexual but just doesn't see Femshep as a viable sexual partner. Maybe she's into more feminine ladies.
