Seriously. This was a major annoyance for me as well. Most of the romancable characters aren't fully developed unless you romance them. Kind of a glaring flaw really...

Its a lot more than the hug. I'm really sorry I'll have to duck out until tomorrow morning, but just spent the last 2 hours sorting through the dialog sound files and I'd need some sleep before I compile them.

Not that anyone should care, per se. Happy discussing with all of you.

But yeah, a fleshed out "i'm not interested in you romantically for these reasons but you're my best friend" option with more dialog would have been well past good enough for me. Since they didn't do that, we get threads like this...I mean, you can be a bigger ass to Tali as a Maleshep and still romance her than a Femshep who was there for her.

Being friends isn't a satisfying conclusion to being friends?

The unsatisfying part is that when your hopes are highest, nothing at all happens. FemShep doesn't take the next step, without asking the player. There's no clear cut. The important thing when desiring s.o. is not achieving romance, but to try by displaying your feelings. FemShep doesn't try, even though I feel it would have made sense, somehow.

Even Jack aside, you really don't get very far with anyone, I hope they change this for ME3. There should be satisfying friendship and romance paths for everyone.

which is why, i assume, that people feel so let down, when the cant romance someone.

I could see seeking closure if it seems abrupt, my gut says that the path with Tali and a female Shepard ends with friendship not romance. I am not trying to be a jerk just going off what they did for Garrus and the fact that the only "bisexual" encounters have been with Asari and a human who isn't a true romance just going to say it was not meant to be.

The fans got her as a romance but you can't please everyone, same with Garrus.

Okay, so, they add one line of VO where you voice your feelings for her, she says she's not into you... and we're right back to the same "waaah! everyone should be bi! anyone who says otherwise is trying to ruin my life!" that the OP has been on about this whole thread.

To be honest this is just a limitation of the dialog system and the fact the game does not have a sophisticated AI to account for these factors that should make a difference.  It is a matter of "binary" flags so yeah I do agree it does not make sense for her to fall for a jerk Shepard but that is just a limitation of the system.

I won't argue that just adding my two cents here.

Once you put your idea out there you have to face facts that some people will not agree and don't mind discussing that since it makes for good discussion.  I will add the only person really calling people names and being nasty is you, at no point have I actually attacked you in anyway.

I think your idea has merit but I don't agree with how you want to do it, and I think your motivation has nothing to do with Tali's actual character and more so with your projected desires on her character.
