And then there's your Chainmail Bikini Brigade™ who thinks they're too cool for armor (and who appear to genuinely not need it). But then I already have a poll up about that.

I had the same complaint with DA:O and that was a real RPG. Bioware has gotten away from this for some reason.
... How is DAO a "REAL" rpg, and ME2 isn't?
I am surprised that you have played both and still ask this question. ME2 is about as light as you can get with RPG and still call it an RPG. It is basically a 1st/3rd person game with an RPG like story-line. No levels, no stats, no inventory, no real personal upgrades (outside of a very few areas), etc. It doesn't bother me if people want to call it an RPG, but one has to admit that many of the elements that make something an RPG are not present in this game. Doesn't mean it isn't a good game, but it is what it is.
The leveling system for the most part was quite similar, there are many flaws to DAO as much as I would argue as ME2.. You just are trying to overlook that..
I am not overlooking anything with regards to DA:O. When I wrote a review on GS I gave it an 8 and felt that overall it was overrated by the press covering these things. I thought it was a very good game and offered great value for the money, but I did indeed find many faults. That said, and from an RPG prespective, DA:O still offered far more traditional RPG elements than does ME2. That doesn't mean that DA:O is a deep RPG, but it does imply that ME2 as said before is incredibly light on the traditional RPG offerings.

However I did like the cerberus assault armor but I know I will eventually get bored of wearing that all the time.

The number of relevant options you have for armor and weapons has actually gone up, not down. Whereas you only ever use the Spectre weapons for the first game, and usually only the weapons you get points in, in the second game, you're forced to use all the weapons, more or less. A Geth Rifle isn't necessarily better than a Vindicator Rifle, though it is better than an Avenger. Likewise, a Carnifex Handcannon isn't necessarily better than a Predator pistol.
I replay ME1 frequently. If you begin a new character you will use many weapons that steadily get better as you build up your resources to be able to buy the Spectre weapons. You will NOT be using Spectre weapons from minute 1 in ME1 unless you do a new game + with a game complete character.
I have also heard this argument in regards to armor. "Well you are just going to use the Colossus anyway so there is only 1 real armor in ME1". Hogwash. I constantly upgrade my armor in ME1 and even some game complete character are still not using Colossus. Predator, Mantis, and Ursa armor are great at high levels and Mercenary is even passable if you happen to not luck out on your looting. Further on the way to even findng these armors your character, and your crew will be using many other types of armor (granted that are just reskins) on the way to the better stuff.
The armor in Me1 had STATS and upgrade slots. Way cool.
The guns in ME1 had STATS and upgrade slots. Way cool.
Yes the guns in ME2 'feel' better, and the dfferent guns 'feel' different. This is very welcome. Now we want MORE of them, and varrying degrees of difference. How about some STATS?
Yes the N7 armor in ME2 is way freakin cool. I lo ve how you can color it and switch up parts. I like the new N7 alot more than any armor I had in ME1 ... but it is severely lacking in interchangeable pieces. Why not add more interchangeable pieces and a start menu helmet toggle for the N7 rather than release new armor sets that cannot be customized.

But again, how relevant was armor in the first game to begin with? Mainly you just equipped whichever armor was best, and there was usually only one which was best. Occasionally you had to make a minor decision on whether to prioritize shields or armor, but that was rare, and going for either choice didn't make much of a difference, anyway.
Don't get me wrong. I would've loved more choices, but I like more real choices, not a ton of palette swaps or level upgrades.
Lol, armors in ME2 are exactly that, cometical swaps... armor and body part don't have much difference in between, so you'll end up using the one that's looks better
This is so easy to fix, they just need to make more mods to research in the computer lab to make armors actually have a differnece between them. We need armor mods.
