I have a problem with the "Press and hold (F) to end misson" function in Mass Effect 2 for PC.

It seems that I can't get to the Normandy in any way and the quit mission function doesn't work properly. I had the same problem in a previous mission and after running around for like 5 minutes trying everything, I could finally get back to the Normandy by finding a highlight on a shutter that had closed behind me, shutting me off from the rest of the level and this highlight hadn't even been there when I looked before.

Now I have the same problem once again on the "MSV Strontium Mule" mission. After I get the payload and the "Press and hold (F) to end misson" message pops up, I can't quit no matter how many times or where on the ship I try. I've tried to go back just as I did on the previous mission where I had the same problem, but that doesn't work. There's no highlight on the exit and I've tried to re-bind the key for the "quit mission" function and even changing it, but no luck.

Other than this, the game works just fine.

Does anyone have any idea of what I should do to be able to leave the mission? It really sucks having to load an earlier save seeing how I haven't saved for ages before this mission.

Have you altered your key bindings? My only major grief with the game is that it only tells you the default keys.



The 'F' key is whatever your melee attack button is. Why this should be I have no idea, presumably Shepard has an extraordinarily powerful punch.

I've changed the key bindings for melee attack to mouse3 and exit mission to F but it doesn't work... Gonna try using mouse3 or something... Dunno, may work...

EDIT:

I checked out the options and the binds clearly say "F" to leave mission but for some wierd reason it's Mouse3 that I've bound to melee attack... Anyways it works fine now so thank you very much

I've encountered this problem a couple times as well. There is actually a bug of some kind that can cause this. The one I remember was when I took what's-his-face scientist down to find his buddy. I prevented him from ... and then selected continue or stay longer or what ever instead of choosing to end the mission. Right after that, the target of that mission visually disappeared but a high-light box with his name stayed, so you could spin around and locate his invisible self, which showed a Talk option, but did nothiing.



And at that point the end-mission key entirely failed. I saved the game, closed it, reloaded it (possibly twice) and then I was able to end the mission.
