Hi all, I have a simple question.
Can we buy all upgrades and armor pieces in one playthrough?

I've done all sidemissions and completed the game twice and just needed 1 more upgrade to max out everything

should be a way to trade excess resources in the game.... sitting on like 150k palladium and irridium, even factoring in fuel and probe costs, wouldnt have had enough for the upgrade

yeah unfortunately the game has the whole galaxy run out of credits, leaving you stranded unless you saved a lot on fuel.

I don't think you're actually supposed to be able to buy everything -- it eliminates the "grind to win" mentality and means you have to think about your upgrades tactically.

Well, you can go to Tuchanka (or whatever the spelling is), and bet on the fights.

Edit: You don't keep your upgrades in New Game +, either, so "in one playthrough" doesn't fit here.
I'm just going to be patient, hold onto my 29 Shepard with all but one upgrade, and wait for DLC to put me over the edge.

Honestly I doubt it's even intentional. The fact that the whole galaxy runs out of money and you can't even sell all the crapload of resources sitting in your cargo bay is simply an oversight or bad design.

I actually opened a thread in the main forum about it here. Hopefully they'll notice the problem and patch it somehow.

Really? I think it's way too easy to make money. There seems to be thousands scattered through each level. Granted I've not played it through yet but I've always got enough cash and I don't even bother hacking safes and PDAs.

cerberus spent billions to revive me, the least they could do was give me an expense account...

You'll run out of it soon enough. Believe me, you're going to regret not hacking those safes...

That's what i'm doing, a save each time I win with my varen and a reload if I lose.
Not the most fun thing to do...

You might be able to if you transfer a level 60 ME1 character, beat the game and then use that character to play through again. You should get about 300k to start of with.

Thanks for telling me, I'll start doing that then.

Yes, you can buy everything available in the game when you have the cash to pay for it.

That's about the best quote I've heard yet. Dammit, why didn't Cerberus give me an expense account? I doubt a couple million creds to trick out the Normandy and my team's weapons would've bankrupted the Illusive Man, especially when humanity is at stake. I realize from a game development standpoint why not, but I'm talking from an in-game reason why.

Yeah there's a lot less credits in ME2 when compared to the near Bill Gates amount of ME1

heh, make sure you get every discount before you buy anything from a Kiosk. as I remember it, you can get a discount everywhere. but even then, having done everything (other than have my pet Varren destroy all wildlife on Tchuchanka for 500 credits a pop) I missed 1 upgrade (I don't count the hacking upgrade who buys that?!)

yeah that is a lot of cash, until you have to start paying 75k for one upgrade. I purchased every upgrade I could early in the game. And then it became evident that there was going to be a money crunch and only started buying stuff that mattered to me. I did all side missions, hacks, etc and I was still 350k-500k short of buying all the upgrades. From what I remember I had 1 pistol dmg, 1 shotgun dmg, 2 tech dmg, and 1 omni tool upgrade that I hadn't purchased. Just those 5 upgrades were 250k+

I managed to buy everything except for the hack modules and still had around 100K by the end of the game. I would have run out by buying fish after every mission cause I would forget to feed them. And I didn't buy any ship models, but those were only 500 bucks a piece, so I would have been able to.

But this was my second playthrough and was given money for beating the game. The first time I played I definitely didn't have enough.

I don't mind the lack of money to purchase stuff in ME2, as I remember from ME1, I had 9,999,999 creds and 999 omni gel.  Money wasn't really an issue, I'm glad that I have to be wiseful about the purchases Imake in the game.

But I agree with some of the earlier posts about an expense account.  First, why do I need money?  Sherpard is a member of a super secret society with almost endless amounts of cash.  Why should I have to worry about buying anything, it should just be available.
Ask yourself, does the United States Special Forces (NAVY SEALS, Rangers, Recon) have to worry about not having the best gear available?.  Does Blackwater have second rate gear?  The answer is NO, they get the best stuff available to complete the mission.
Why does ME2 have to worry about upgrading everything, because then the game wouldn't really be that entertaining to play.

I did fine with money. Bought all upgrades, all fish, and all ships. Did not buy all armor. It's also funny how much money you actually save by only scanning when you need to, and only on rich planets. Don't waste fuel and probes, that adds up!

I do admit that I was a bit OCD when it came to finding all hack/bypass minigames. I actually ended my last playthrough with 6/5 AR upgrades. Zaeed Loyalty Quest FTW!

I got annoyed with the lack of money. I actually can't explore anywhere anymore because I've not enough credits to keep buying fuel. Unless I keep betting on the varren/reloading if I lose but that is just boring. Or start a new game. Great way to punish players who want to explore...well not that there's all that much exploration left.

Like the OP said, should definitely be able to trade surplus resources for credits.

You'd think the galaxy would have some kind of frequent flier card for all that fuel...
