For any who read The Stolen Throne, you know how awesome the Night Elves were. I am aware their role was primarily as a scouting/guerrilla tactics unit and that they were all slaughtered, but Loghain seemed to really enjoy the unit. I guess the question is, since Ferelden is free again would Loghain rebuild them, or would he decide that incorporating the Night Elves into the ferelden military as being no longer necessary.

I don't know, I really enjoyed that part of the book in particular and really am hoping they come back.

That would be fabulous!! Especially if you could join them pre-Grey Wardening, but I doubt that one.

I've been playing World of Warcraft too long because I had no idea what you were talking about for a moment there.

Can you give a brief description of the awesomeness of Night Elves for those of us who have yet to read The Stolen Throne (myself included)? :)

They might very well make their appearance; after all the kingdom needs all the help it can get its hands on.

I guess the real question should have been do you think the unit was recreated?

Oh sorry. In The Stolen Throne Loghain (who until recently was nothing more than a bandit/ferelden refugee) who after proving himself as an unorthodox strategist in a decisive battle, was given command of a unit of elven archers. The Archers, known as the night elves, became such a thorn in the side of the orlesian army (they conquered  ferelden and were trying to destroy any remnants of the rebel army) that the orlesian soldiers were nearly too afraid to stand guard in fear of taking an arrow seemingly came out of nowhere. If I remember correctly, the Night Elves were also responsible for the orlesian army  no longer sending out small scouting parties searching for the Ferelden rebel army.

You really should read the books, they are surprisingly well written. I rarely read, but I devoured both prequel books.

Well, they could perhaps make an appearance without being recreated. Skeleton archers go!

Or better yet their corpses could have been possessed by demons or whatever kind of monster it is and you have to fight em.

I really hope they don't reappear as skeleton archers, that would be crazy. I guess it wouldn't horrible (well horrible for anyone fighting them) but I would rather them show alive than undead.

I would LOVE to see the Night Elves in the game, especially if you could recruit them as allies.

I don't know if you'd see the company of them, but I bet we'd run into some elves that used to be part of the Night Elves. It is pretty clear that Loghain is commanding the kings regular army in The Calling.

If none survived then I doubt it, but if a few survived I would say yes, though Loghain would most like not have recreated them alone because they were extremly elite and its doubtful that any human would have bothered to help recreate it without any of the original elves to help.

I guess it's possible that like Loghain, that your primary character could come across a group of city elves in one of the towns that you visit, and encourage them to become a fighting force like the night elves.

As far as I can recall from Stolen Throne and The Calling, several of them are still around after the battle in Gwaren. As Loghain is made lord there, it would be not at all surprising to see them around town somewhere or along the road and forests. They were explained earlier, but to clarify just a hair, the term 'Night Elves' came from an irregular group of elves that Loghain gathered from not just among the soldiers, but also from the camp followers, because elves have markedly better night vision than humans. A skilled bowman himself, he saw them trained, organized, and sent them out at night to nettle Olesian forces. Thus the 'night' to the elves.

lol a WoW player too, my first thought when seeing the Topic was "Depends... will there be mailboxes in game?"

Perhaps you could make yourself a sole Night elf, unless they only work great in groups.

I appreciate the correction as I apparently got quite up in how amazing they were, I must have forgotten the crucial details on what seperated them from the rest. Also now that mention it I think I do recall them still being around during the battle of Gwaren. I must have forgotten and assumed they were all gone at the battle of West Hill.

It is a tragedy that forgot about all this as I just finished The Stolen Throne a month ago and The Calling on the twelfth.

lol tempted to go back and reread em myself since I'm sure there's details I've spaced also, but not sure I have time before the game releases. Well, theoretically I prolly do, but trying to reread A Game of Thrones before the HBO series gets going this fall too, so yeah. I just remember them being in the building with Loghain when they're hiding in buildings in one part at Gwaren. No real mention of em after that that I can recall. What'd be interesting to see in the actual game I think, is what the Dalish Elves thought of the Night Elves and any interaction between the two factions.

I suspect that the Dalish Elves would be suspicious of the Night Elves since the impression I got was that the Night Elves were mostly City Elves. And I don't think the Dalish Elves respect the City Elves for their failure to keep the Elven way of life.

in the dalish origin there is a once city elf that joined your camp.
