I am noticing most of the posts of people complaining about graphics, crashes and lag are mostly NVIDIA cards. I had a lot of issues with my 8800gt once I started to play this game. I think it pretty much fried the card. Which in the end worked for me because I wanted to get a new one, which gave me a perfect excuse to do so. But it is something I am noticing. When I was using the 8800gt I had to up the fan speed via the Riva Tuner. Even with my new card (Radeon 5850) it still runs a bit high in temp than I would like it to.
What would you suggest then? I also have a 8800GT card and I cannot play the game at all du to stuttering/lag/whatever you want to call it. I'm thinking of getting a XFX Radeon HD 5770 card instead. I could get the 5850 but I'm going to replace my computer within the next year or so, so I don't want to sink too much money into a new graphics card. Just enough to let me play this game.

Bad Geforce drivers have plagued nVIDIA for three years now, altough there has been a lot of recent improvement, with the exception of the drivers for the 8600 cards (for which, in one PC, I am still running 186.14 drivers).Gorath Alpha wrote...
Same as always, when it's a Geforce, how many of their drivers have you tested the game with? If more than one, what change in symptoms, if any, showed up?

I've tried four different drivers - I think - since they were the ones I'd downloaded since I got my system. I found another one that was recommended that I'm going to try tonight when I get home from work but I haven't seen any discernible difference between them. The game still freezes at the exact same spot regardless of the drivers.

I have found the game doesn't fully shutdown after exiting. My GPU's temperature stays around 6-7°c above it's normal idle temperature until I reboot.

I've seen the 190.62 recommended somewhere else. Will have to give those a try. As well as the 185.85 mentioned above.

Gosh, I'm running that version due to being lazy with driver upgrades. Also, I rarely upgrade drivers unless something isn't working right.
Incidently, the current nvidia drivers are 196.21 http://www.nvidia.co...96.21_whql.html

2. Dragon Age: Origins keeps crashing under Win7 x64
It is reported that this might be a problem with the nVidia drivers. So
if you have the latest drivers installed (as you should) try
downgrading them to the 190 series and see if that solves your Dragon
Age: Origins problem.

I tried drivers, checking card etc to no avail.
My HD4870 X2 card is fine and runs flawlessly with everything else.
The work around for me is to switch off full screen.
It's not a cure but try and see if it will run in windowed mode.
