Sure he had a few funny lines, but apart from that there was nothing interesting or memorable about him. The stereotypical drunken dwarf warrior, nothing more.

He may be #4, but he's no where near the top 3, so there. I think both Leliana and Morrigan would deserve to come back - which is in line with the poll.

I think this is the point BioWare could use. Take an not completely developed character from DAO and put it in the expansion. I think it's only he that lacks his background. I mean, you DO learn what he did in the past, but how he met his wife or whatever else is missing. That would be a point. But of course, It could simply be that BW is pulling a prank on us Oghren fans. And if they do, they'll lose serious respect from me, that's for sure.Infiltrator wrote...
Thanks for the info.. now I don't "hate" him, but like I said, I don't see anything special or memorable about him, don't see how one can get excited about a drunken dwarf warrior. Good thing we didn't have an Elven tree hugger that comes with him.

lol, not only that wouldnt u want to know what happened to Morrigan? She did just go poof with either choice in the endgame.phan56 wrote...
When it came to comedy I really liked Oghren, and this could be a very good opportunity to add more depth to the character
...I do also request (demand) that we at least see/acknowledge our love interests from DA:O, at least in a similar manner to what happened in ME1. I feel ridiculously connected to Leliana, and my warden needs his lady!

Oh, he can die. If you anger him enough, he'll attack you. You defeat him, and he can either leave, stay, or you can kill him. The exact dialogue is:
Oghren: No, no. I'm done.
PC: No, Oghren. I'm done with you. Kill him.
And that's the glorious death of Oghren.
That said, I never actually killed him. Never got below 0 in approval. I like to keep my companions close.

The fact that Oghren was the least developed character makes him an appropriate choice as well. I think that he was really cool and funny but he really didn't have as much to say as the other characters. Which made me a bit mad, thinking that they created an interesting character but didn't delve in further, he deserves a spot in Awakening solely because of this.

I remember Bioware said that there's going to be one party member returning as a recruitable char in the expansion. After seeing the trailers, I'm pretty sure it's Oghren, which leaves me somewhat disappointed.

Oghren is arguably the best companion.
He is obviously the one who recieved the least direct and sustained attention and the fewest polishing passes.
But that actually makes him better; like the rest, he isn't overwrought into a cartoon; and therefore he is the most retro-rpg of any of them, since he isn't overflowing with excessive expository dialogue and he doesn't cloy you to death. Only Oghren doesn't suffer from Aribeth syndrome.
It seems to me that Bioware was probably least proud of him-- but he is the NPC least touched by contingencies of cinEmAticonsolification, and that makes him the most genuinely interesting companion, even if he is arguably the most cliched out of the box, the drunken dwarf, as well as he least explained (and explains himself least) of the companions.
If an NPC tells you every possible thing about themselves there is to know, then how can they be intriguing?
He is the only companion that really seems to organically belong in a 'dark and gritty' world-- partly because of his backstory, but mostly because he doesn't talk you to death and because Steve Blum doesn't overplay so much that you actually have to listen to what he has to say.
I would really prefer Dog too. Oghren is the companion I disliked the most, not counting Secret Companion.Kalledon wrote...
I can see an argument for not bringing back Sten, Lelianna, Morrigan, Wynne, Zevran, and Shale as being valid and understandable. But not bringing back Dog makes no sense. The warhound is suppose to be fiercely loyal after being imprinted with a master. There is absolutely no reason outside of death that Dog wouldn't still be with you.
The only other argument I could see for Dog (other then he died) is that the Orlias Warden wouldn't necessarilly have him. But that's a pretty weak argument personally.

This thread is a perfect example of how the title of a thread and the attitude and maturity of the OP can really make a difference in directing the thread. So far this thread is considerably more civil and intelligent then the last thread which started off extremely hostile and ignorant.
