But what if you picked Allister to not be king. In all the arugment's I have seen, some people are not grasping the concent of what if you did the ritual and made Anora King and she killed Allister. What if you never had Allister King at all

Does that get erased and they forced a situation where he's back from the grave. It's only a few months away, I wish they would release more details other then coming soon

I was meaning to ask that same question, "what if you never had Allistair King at all" but in my case he didn't actually die.  I guess either way poses its own problems (if he's dead, it explains his absence, but then he can't appear in any cameos as King or otherwise).

I was thinking that if he's just an ordinary Grey Warden he could have mostly the same dialogue with less fancy armor on, but I was forgetting that he could just be plain dead.

I'm a bit nervous that they'll be able to pull this off well, considering they already messed up plenty Alistair dialogue in DAO, where he acts like King even when he isn't.

Oh well; I guess the game will be good regardless! If I get too fed up with inconsistencies I can always just start a new warden :)

I am hoping they will allow about three to four different opening with who you encounter based on the choices you made. For example, if you did not do the ritual and Allister killed the arch demon and died. It's going convince me that he poofs up in the awaking without a scratch on him and says some magic brought him back...Nice he's back, weak way he was brought back

Though we were only showed one clip, this one happended to have Allister in it. Though most forget he could be in your party if you allowed Anora to be Queen, and Allister lived as a normal grey warden. Though the final choice was one of the hardest choices

Simply seeking more details on that, I saw a video clip of another companion and I groaned. As much as I'd like to find out about new companions. I'm rather more interested in what happended to the post game save, they said they would be releasing more details as the date was planned to go..

Yet nothing other then the new companion whos a mage

Using Alistair as a specific example, and assuming that what the devs have said about choices carrying over is accurate, if Alistair is King he will appear in that role as shown in the trailers, if Alisatair is dead he will not appear, and Anora will be Queen. If Alistair is alive and not King, I assume that the writers will come up with some excuse of sending him to Weisshaupt (as said in one of the last Epilogue cards IIRC), to tell the Grey Wardens of what happened in Denerim.

Sigh, theres already two+ threads on this, and. Let me catch you up...

1. Technically we don't know for sure, although Oghren does seem the most likley. Some people are nuts and won't even acknowledge that Oghren is Oghren in the videos.

2. Many range from loving to being cool with Oghren and many range from disliking to hating Oghren. Although middle ground seems to be rare.

3. Oghren is currently standing strong in the #4 postition in the biggest "what character do you want in the expansion list" actually quite high above #5 who is Zevran and very high compared to everyone else. Oghren is also the only non-romancible character in the top most disired. So that says something.

4. People range from thinking he's shallow to fairly deep. I'm in the middle.

5. Chances are we will not see a romancible character return or a character easy to kill for the same reasons Ashley, Kaiden, and Wrex did not appear in ME2.

6. There is debait over if you even can kill him.SOme say you can't, some say you can (although no one's done it) the guide says you can, but the guide also sucks.

7. Your best bet is to trust bioware. If it's NOT Oghren, it's not Oghren. If it's Oghren, heres a chance for bioware to make him deeper and more then a comic relief. So everyone wins except people who DON'T like Oghren and their not people, but rather reptilians trying to sway people away from laughing so crushing depression can overcome humanity and they can rule the world!.

There your all caught up.

you get a free nug for that! I loved that explination! I for one care little about the person returning & more about the 5 new companions.

I wasn't sure that it was Ohgren untill the queen of the blackmarsh trailer. That really clearly shows his face.

Actually you can run into any of those 3 characters in ME2, depending on if they survived in your imported ME1 save.  In one of my saves, Kaiden and Wrex survived and I ran into both of them, in another on Ashley survived (she killed Wrex), and I only ran into her.

I thought reptilians had already succeeded.  Although Oghren is still funny, even if he is a bit of an obnoxious drunk.

I would definitely like Dog to be around too, even if he's too old or injured to fight.

Litter.  Of.  Puppies.

Also, anyone else already feeling guilty about betraying their DAO love interest? It would be nice to stay faithful, but I can't imagine playing DAA without pursuing any of the new romances.

Would be tough for my primary play-through; he became Prince Regent.  Which should make things interesting for the expansion.

Given that it's not Shale, Oghren will do quite nicely for me.

Ya, I just meant they can't be companions. Of COURSE your romance in DA:O should be carried over in some form or another if possible. Hopefully every character will make a cameo though, although they may be saving morrigan.

I thought ME2 had a very very clever way of rewarding the people that actually stayed loyal to their ME1 romances. Very touching.

Unless bioware drops the ball, I'm sure the Alistair romance in particular will be well handled in the expansion.

Going to be interesting how this works with the multiple ending's you can have.
For example my character left Fereldan with Leiliand to see the world. Another character married Anora and became King-Consort. Yes will indeed be interesting this.

Lol, see, this is why Alistair, Leliana, Zevran, and Morrigan won't be returning characters. Just look at how difficult making them a cameo is!?

I"m very surprised Dog isn't the returning character, I mean, he's easy and you can't really HATE him. Well, no, I suppose it does make sense he isn't the returning character. With only FIVE companions, your not gonna wanna make one as shallow as Dog. He's fun, but he doesn't add much to story and not much else to really do with him, eh?

Honestly, I'd be disappointed. Just to throw my opinion into this discussion, He was probably my least favorite except for Zevran and Wynne. Dog should definitely be in here. I mean really, it's a Mabari war hound that you imprinted (if you continue your save). What possible explanation could there be for his leaving you unless they say "Your dog died" at the beginning of the game.:P

Same with Leliana if you romanced her. Unless they say "All your companions were killed in an ambush," having her be absent would put me off. If I say I'm going to travel with her, then I expect to travel with her. What I'm getting at is that unless there is an option I'm not thinking of, the Bioware devs have painted themselves into a corner where they either have to tell you everyone died, or leave a lot of people feeling that what they did in DA:O didn't really matter after all.  They should at least have Leliana (if you romanced her) appear with you as an NPC, and/or anyone else who decided to travel with you (Dog, Zevran...). Without at least that, I have to say that I will be rather displeased.

I agree with you so much !!! At least they MUST give us a Cameo of main companions we took with us til the and of the game and the choise to remain faithful during the game or to cheat our beloved... (if he/she is still alive !)

And I don't agree with people who compare ME2 to Awakening saying that awakening could be as ME2 where romances and other things were cut off... because ME2 is a SEQUEL which was release after.. (how many months/years?)... Awakening is an XPANSION  released only after 3 months... I would not be very displeased if in DAO 2 we would see many choises we made in DAO dropped, because it would be a sequel... but in a Xpansion no.. I will not agree to any mismatch with the main campaigne !!!

They'll probably charge you extra (DLC for the expansion!) to get Dog back.

But yeah, there's no point in NOT having him.

They will probably make your job of such urgency and your companions having to keep the homefires burning ( or have something urgent to keep them occupied during your short journey away ) that it can explain away their absence with less heartache than going " whoops they died. sorry bout that."

Originally I really hoped my romance(s) returned for my characters but I can see how that would be very very difficult.

well, i see similar difficulty in explaining why they aren't with you, given that the expansion is set only a few months after origins...

I didn't like Oghren much. Never used for my playthrough aside from the part where you are forced to use him. Definitely my least favorite character :( They better come up with an awesome new cast to make up for it.

as the days pass I'm going more pissed off...

I want Leliana back... and no other!!

Any.Other.Character. I would see return from DAO who is not Leliana will be IMMEDIATELY kicked off from my game, whatever they may have done to make him more powerful, deeper, more intersting or anything.. This is my last sentence!

Ok, you like Leliana, that is clear. Write a message to Sheryl Chee, the writer, maybe she'll tell you that they will include Leliana... or that they won't.

AND IT'S OGHREN

Hehe... you are right.. This is only my personal choice... I understand it's impossible/difficult/too expensive satisfy everyone.. i want Leliana, someone would prefer Morrigan or Alistair or Zev or Dog etc.etc.
So, I don't understand the reason to bring back only just one old companion... It was better to drop all of them at that point !! No preference for anyone at that point... just my opionion obviously

You do know if they DID remake all companions, the bloody thing would cost, what, 120 dollars?

But still, if there is someone to choose besides Oghren, I'd be very happy it's Leliana. Not that I wouldn't be offended by BioWare for the next eternity and never again come back in this place as well as buy their games.
