You said it.  Unfortunately and IIRC, there is an interview that states that most of the DA:O characters will be back in cameos only. They used Leliana was a specific example.  So, she will be there, but not joinable.  Sad.

If you see any difficulty in that you have no imagination or are kidding yourself.

jeez, i feel the same for plot-relevant characters, but really, the rest? wouldn't be a problem if they wanted it that way. to say it's hard to put them in is the same like saying leaving them out is hard, only from a different point of view.
oh, well, it's easy to come up with reasons why they're gone, i know that too. i just fear that it'll feel cheap (which i was meaning to say).
and the only difference with oghren is what? that i can't either kill or *beep* him? hmkay.

1. Many of the companions do go their own way at the end of origins and really no explination is needed.

2. I do agree that it can feel cheap, but trust bioware when it comes to story. In all their sequals companions do not return and yet are done justice. Look no further then Wrex... that made complete sense.

3. Yes, it's next to impossible to kill Oghren and you can't screw him. Those are CERTAINLY two factos (if he is the returning char.) See Ash, Laurana, Wrex, Kaiden. Through in the fact he's a popular character, he has room to grow, and his voice actor prob isn't to expensive... and bamn... bingo.

It sucks, but somethings like brining back Leliana or Alistair (ect) are just to damn hard. There so many paths they could have taken in DA:O. It's a huge task to do them justice AND everything thing else that goes into the game.

yeah. i know it's a matter of money at most. but besides that, leaving out alistair like i mentioned before, it would probably make more sense to have ALL non-plot characters rather than just one. yes, they have many different outcomes, but i'm naturally most interested in MY ending ;)

it's so sad, because to me it rings like "bring back the most boring dude, BECAUSE he's boring and not that much work".

(whatever, don't want to annoy you, but sometimes it's tricky to get my point across in english^^)

Probably could only bring back the voice actors that were availble...........or cheap enough. It all depends on the voice actor.

So the developers mentioned a "return of one of the fans favourite" (or something)

Its Morrigan. Period.

A person whose polite and brings up good points is anything but annoying ;)

Look at Garrus and Tali in ME2... just because they were easier to bring back doesn't make them boreing. The two do not have to go hand in hand. And honestly, I find Oghren the least boreing out of all the characters.

But it's opinion, and you may very well find him boreing. Hell, I found Zevran, Sten, and Dog boreing but many disagree.

IF you find him boreing then you should welcome this chance bioware has to make him deeper.

Just do yourself a favor and don't right him soley because he's taking the spot of your desired companion.

Oghren is a fan favorite not the #1 favorite but a favorite.

Me alone with many others are thinking Morrigan's being saved for the sequal. Besides she's in no position to return YET.

Oghrens in each and every trailer... theres almost no arguement.

So your theory is that the devs created the PC to look just like Oghren in the official trailers. Because that makes sense how? Are they doing their pissed to taunt fans of other companions and ****** off Oghren fans? I don't think the devs are d***s.

Who knows what goes into their heads ? Do you ? Someone's lacking imagination.

Of course the possibility of that is relatively low but there is still a possibility that the developers where just teasing Oghren fanboys and fangirls in the trailer. Besides a possibility is still a possibility.

Like Alistar would say, "Somebody has been drinking"

The developers could have been drunk and the following conversation as follow.

Dev 1: You know what ?
Dev 2: What ?
Dev 1: Let's make a trailer for the expansion and have the PC look like Oghren.
Dev 2: Why ?
Dev 1: To ****** over all the fanboys and fangirls like how our Oghren pisses ale.
Dev 2: Sounds fun let's do it.

I said so and I repeat. If it's Morrigan, they better put an option to kill her on sight. And even if it's her, why not simply refuse her help?

I highly doubt it would be Morrigan since they made it clear that she didn't want to be found by the warden.

Thanks for the info.. now I don't "hate" him, but like I said, I don't see anything special or memorable about him, don't see how one can get excited about a drunken dwarf warrior. Good thing we didn't have an Elven tree hugger that comes with him.

But of course, It could simply be that BW is pulling a prank on us Oghren fans. And if they do, they'll lose serious respect from me, that's for sure.

No the devs are not jerks. Oghren may not be the most popular but he is popular. Bioware knows this. He's been in every awakaning trailer so if it is a joke they are being consistent right?

What makes people think..that Bioware wouldn't be trying to fool everyone? ^^  Anyone really think they're going to put such a large spoiler in their videos...so obvious..people aren't going to overlook it?

I really am not convinced its Ohgren, for one he looks too thin, for another..if it is him,  he'll more than likely be a cameo or a quest npc....this is what I suspect is going to happen.     I need more proof to believe its Ohgren other than a quick flash on a red-headed, skinnier than the Ohgren we know...dwarf.

Well there is a rumour going around that she'll be possibly the subject of an expansion...but not this one coming up...or maybe she'll show up in  DA:O 2 sequel?

They stated "an old favorite will be returning" they didn't say your or my personal favorite.    If that was the case, they'd have to bring them all back or suffer the backlash from the disappointed fans...I think.

At the point that this is all a big prank... Think of it like the delay of Return to Ostagar. What, in 2 days, 220+ pages of posts filled with insults of any kind. Make that for the Oghren fans. It wouldn't be fun for them to read insults. And as I said, if it's a big joke, I threatened them to kill them, or better, just never again buy any other game of theirs. I might not make anything like this, but at least, I will go out, with a child's character and with some dignity.

The ring works both ways remember even if you'll find her, she'll definitely try to get away. Morrigan is one of my favourites *Ice spells for the win* but its just a little too early for her to come back in an expansion. I too want to know about the child.

If she is in the expansion it would be a cameo.

No, the ring doesn't work both ways. She says she can find you, so long as you have the ring. That's because she feels the presence of the ring, not you. Also it is said that Flemeth used that ring to keep track of her, so it's more likely you'll attract the attention of Flemeth then the one of Morrigan.

I'm not re-renting the damn game to prove my point, go redo another run and get the ring trigger again she'll explain to you that the ring does work both ways.

Flemeth is dead well not dead since she'll respawn again like what morrigan said.

Oh yeah, dog the most hated character, I hope it doesn't come back even if you're a human noble origin.

I'd like to ask a question.. who did the major error?

the fans who, perhaps, are expecting too much from this game... believing that it would be possible to be everybody satisfied, and believing that all of our favorites and all of our preferences and all of our choices would be developed in expansion?

OR the major error was made by

someone who generated this great hype to fans saying them "yes, you are free to decide your story by your choises, all game who reacts on your behaivuor, yes epic romances... and all of this will have a great influence not only into this game but also in eventually continuations !!!!

who said all THOSE things to fans? And if you are not able to mantain these promises, well... you should not be surprised to see most of the fans who get pissed off or angry afterall!!!

"Oh yeah, dog the most hated character, I hope it doesn't come back even if you're a human noble origin."

My fingers are crossed that they ditch the stupid dog, too.  I hated having important conversations with my party members back at camp with a bleeping dog barking in the background!  I wound up having most conversations in other locations because it annoyed me so much.  Die dog, die.

My least-favorite party members were Dog, Wynne, and Oghren, but of the three Oghren was the one I least wanted to throttle so if it's him... I'll deal.  Having to listen to Wynne nanner at me because my character dares to have a sex life before her likely death was much worse than the annoying drunk, and at least with Oghren you have the choice to leave him back at camp.  When it's your healer you can't stand, you're pretty much stuck.

I think the problem for me is that I misunderstood DA:O.  I was under the impression that Origins was... well, the origins of a story we'll be playing in many expansions and sequels and that our choices and relationships with the party members was of supreme importance because of that.  When I reached the end of the game I realized that there really isn't anywhere for my character to go from here.  She's happily married to her true love and ruling at his side; what more of an ending could I wish for her?  Apparently this game wasn't a big setting stage for an epic story to come but more of a one-shot deal.  I hope I'm wrong but for Bioware to pick up the threads of so many possible endings and develop them into further stories seems a bit too ambitions even for them.

If you argue that isn't Oghren... well I give up... obviously your kidding yourself. And your telling me, you examined him enough to tell he's skinnier... but not enough to tell it's his unique hairstyle, his hair color, his class (beserker glow), and his two handed weapon?
PS- If you think he's skinnier you prob played the game on a diffrent resolution then the videos themselves. Resolutions will do that.

Frankly, if thats not Oghren, then theres another red-headed dwarf that groups with you and looks just like Oghren, is a Beserker, and wields a two-handed axe... Oghrens twin brother? Thats the only sensible answer.

No one companion is everyone's favorite. Leliana seems to be the most popular, but she certainly has her haters. Same with Alistair, Morrigan, Oghren, Zevran, Sten, Dog... well you get it.

If we take "an old favorite will be returning" literally, like some are doing, then every single companion would need to return as every companion is a personal favorite to someone.

Besides the Devs have made it CLEAR that only 1 character is returning.

PS- They will suffer backlash from whichever companion they pick.

If it's only 15 hours I dunno how they would pull it off anyway, although they might. Regaurdless, if we run into Zevran or Liliana I'm sure your romance will play a part in the cameo... and we can sure as hell bet it will with Alistair.
