Still don't know how everyone finds the patch on the social site. I have tried looking everywhere. When I use the link here and download the patch I get this error trying to install it:

NSIS Error

Install integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact installer's author to obtain a new copy.

More info at:

http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS.Error

This info link does not work either.

I just installed the update, and the game started just fine for me. Win Vista 32 bit, hard copy of game. Of course, tomorrow is another day. I will keep the library suggestion in mind.

I found the patch following a link in the general discussion forum.

http://social.biowar.../9/index/104363

I downloaded it, it broke the launcher, I got annoyed, shouted at my pc a bit and then found the library solution here, and now all is well :)

Thank you.

Steam updated DA on my system. Now I am unable to launch the game. A steam dialogue box opens for about 3 seconds trying to decrypt DA then closes without launching. Rebooting or relaunching steam has no affect.

Played it a ton yesterday without any problems.

I found that patch link on the forums as well.

Downloaded it.

Decided to risk installing it depite reading posts here on forums about issues.

Game here launched fine and loaded a save game just fine after the patch.

Shrug.

DVD store copy of the game here if that matters. System specs in sig.

What amazes me is I only found out about the patch by stumbling into the forums. ****ing Bioware doesn't even have linke ONE about the patch on the site. Far as I can tell the only way people know about it is A: Have Steam copy and it automatically installs it. B: Stumble into forums and happen to read about it from a post from a fellow game user.

That is idiotic.

Bioware is failing to impress.

I can now launch Dragon Age Origins on Steam after the patch after completing a Verify integrity of the game cache...

Not sure why this was needed after the patch was applied but it resolved the issue if anyone else is having it on steam.

I'm a huge fan of BIoware and I'm enjoying the game very much.  I'm surprised as well that there was a patch out and I didn't know about it until I stumbled across a thread and it was brought up.  I'm been visitng this forums over the last few weeks and there's nothing to alert users that there's a patch.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit (Direct2Drive distribution of DA), and when I downloaded the patch and tried to install it said it could not successfully unpack the new exe file. I rebooted, and the patch worked fine.

I'm on Win7 - My shortcut stopped working after the patch.

I just went to the game folder found the DAOriginsLauncher.exe and made a shortcut from that, works fine..

as stated above goto:

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

there are 3 files available to download, download and install the x86 version file. I'm on Vista 64 and tried the x64 version first with no change, went back and installed the x86 version and now I'm g2g.

To find out about patches:

goto the website from the game launcher and you will be brought to the Bioware social network website. In the left nav bar under your avatar there is a "My Games" button, mousing over this will list patches. I assume you need to have a profile/acct in order to do this. Also, I would agree that this is a crappy way to give users access to patches.

hope that helps
