I just finished downloading Mass Effect 1 off of Steam today, and when i tried to open it, the Steam loading box ("Preparing to launch Mass Effect....") came up for a few seconds, and then an error message "Mass Effect Has stopped working".
I have a Windows Vista and it has an Intel i7 Quad Core processor, and an ATI Radeon HD 4800 video card. Someone hellpp me pleassseee

thats odd, as I too have the same problem with ME1
and got the same type of card, however i got two HD4890s.....driver issue me thinks

The release version of Mass Effect needed to be run as an Administrator. Otherwise it would crash every time.mangafreak366 wrote...

However, the patched version does not. Perhaps that's your problem.

I have patched mine to 1.2 anyway as windows came out with a solution, not sure about OP I ll try that now thanks

my vid card drivers are up to date, i downloaded patch 1.2 for the game, tried running it in admin mode AND restarted my computer and im still getting the same result.
