I have done downloading the C++ SP1 thing, it works fine for the next few hours. After I played again after lunch, the game crashed every 5 minutes again.

Blah!!

The Microsoft C++ update helped me, at least when I installed in this morning and played. Have no idea if any issues/problems will persist.

Hi,

I have another problem, I updated with the patch and now when I start the game, il "launches" but I only get a black screen and nothing happens, I can only shut down the exe manually... I applied the C++ update but it fixes nothing since it is only usefull if the launch button didn't work in the launcher, it does work with me...

I checked the logs, and I saw that since I updated and get the black screen, the loading stops at

and nothing happens next. I haven't done a graphics driver update since yesterday and the game was working just fine, without any problem even in Ostagar.

I am now reDLing the game (I purchased it online) but I wanted to know if there was another solution than reinstalling the game without updating to 1.01 ?

Thanks for reading

Same problem for me, XP Pro SP3, DAO standard DVD edition. Version 1.0 worked, patched to 1.01 and now get as far as the launcher splashscreen only; clicking play goes nowhere.

Have tried reinstallin the vcdist, didn't help. Going with uninstall and reinstall followed by hmmm should I try that patch or wait til there's a patch for that patch.

Has anyone had success with 1.01 working *and* dlc's installed?

Should I patch first, then DL dlc (first time round, I DL'd DLC first, exited, then patched - and that landed me with a non-startable game; but I've read about problems even being allowed to DL the DLC unless u have version 1.0)?

Yup. Same here. Tried another uninstall reinstall, with the vcdist reinstallation, applied patch, no joy. Patch gets my official seal of rejection.

(XP Pro SP3, DAO standard DVD edition, tried before and after applying vcdist reinstallations, tried across four attempts, same result regardless for me: no response to clicking play in the launcher for version 1.01)

I did the Redistributable Package ATL Security Update specifically the vcredist_x86.exe and now the game loads and runs fine for me now. I am on Windows XP SP3 and purchased the retail version (of Dragons Age). Crossing my fingers for all of you to have a quick resolution to this too :(

What looks like is happening is that the patch was built using a different (presumably newer) version of the MS VC++ 2005 libraries. You can find the latest version here.

I'm running Vista 64-bit version, and installing the x86 -version of the MS VC++ 2005 libraries fixed the problem. The x64 -version didn't help.

Updating to 1.01 also makes it so that redeem code downloads won't work, at least if redeemed after updating. Had the problem with play button not working, x86 version of the visual c++ update corrected the problem though.

kinds ****ty that there isnt any BIOWARE response in the matter.. should be in their interest to fix problems.. especially ones introduced by them with a patch.. managed to get it up and running after tips from users here.. and noticed that the easy mode as mage in the long fade mission.. turned almost impossible.. from beeing doable into a quicksave fest.. way to say we make it easier when it becomes harder... grats, have you hired programmers from wow?

Had the same problem with Vista 64. I just did sys restore to day before patched and it is working fine now. I will patch at a later date after this issue is fixed.

ywfn is correct - I used the x86 version of the VC runtime on Vista 64 and it worked fine, however like I said in another thread - I hope using it does not break anything else!

I have error message after patch 1.01

The application has failed to start because appilcation configuration is incorrect. Reinstall the application to fix problem.

What 's wrong with patch? My DAO is DVD standard retail version.
