So I tried the fix for the visual run time file. So the game loads and now all my graphics are clipping one every game that renders 3D, and then crashes my ATI card.

what version drivers/card are you running Neo?

Catalyst 9.1 with a 3870 512mb.

hmmm...lots of people have been having issues with 3870s... you have catalyst 9.1 or 9.10?

9.10 and this is the first issue I've had sense I bought it over a year ago.

yeah, the issue is with the drivers for that particular card... with this particular game. You might try uninstalling the 9.10 and go back as far as 9.3 to 9.5 if possible, lots of people reported the older drivers helping with the issues. I would expect ATI to have a more compatable driver out in the next release so keep checking there too, especially since they've been updating drivers around every 5 weeks.

Mine is crashing when I try to start - from whichever directory I launch the startup. It stops working. I've reinstalled without the patch, done the VC runtime (I think the right version) and have updated Windows as much as it finds necessary or optional - with some things I really didn't intend on adding, too.



Any ideas? This is a Vista SP2 Home Premium with a GeForce 280 and an AMD X2 9850 processor. It does great on everything else I've thrown its way.

im so sorry ppl. i just saw this thread just now, though it was created so many days ago.

i bought the collectors edition, did the patch, and same thing happend to me. DO NOT UNINSTALL! if u hav the collectors edition nd downloaded the bonus items before updating the patch, all ur bonus items will be deleted and u wont be able to download the bonus items ever again.

I may be wrong, but try to repair the installation instead of uninstalling it, do it through the configuration tab on ur autorun page of DAO.

I'm trying to get a new serial number from the Bioware support page for my bonus items but no reply as of yet.

You can redownload the content if it's having problems... you should try the DLC FAQ sticky and address the specific problems you're having (as part of the test process I've done the uninstall/reinstall on a machine a half dozen times with no ill effects.)

The vcredist_x86.exe version fixed the problem for me!  I am running Vista 32 bit. Thanks for the help guys!
