Hmm, Thane's role in ME3. I would love to see Thane in his element, stealthy, silent, infiltrating enemy territory while quietly leaving dead bodies in his wake. Or, being perched out of sight, sniper rifle at the ready delivering death from a mile away. Overall, I'd love to at least have the illusion that Shepard can have multiple teams running at the same time - like Virmire or like the suicide mission.
I think Thane's relationship with Kolyat might be touched on in ME3. As I said before, I'd love to have Kolyat make a reappearance in a side mission or even the main mission as Thane's / Shepard's contact on the Citadel. Can't have too many eyes and ears.
I also think we'll tap Thane (hurhur) to be a go-between or at least get us in the door to talk to the Hanar. Working for the hanar as long as he did and doing as good a job as he did he's bound to have friends in high places. He also knows a lot about hanar life / society / government that Shepard doesn't. Shepard's Pyjack dance might get us kicked off Kahje, it'd be useful to have Thane smooth things over.
I'd love to see more of Thane's dry sense of humor come out. I'd love to see him be slightly less guarded, I can see if he won't be though, as assassins are pretty guarded people period, I'd imagine. I'd love to hear him interact more with the crew, even if it's just professionally. Get him out of his shell, even just a little bit. I bet the first time Thane would tell a joke the only one who'd laugh would be Shepard. But then, that's ok too, kind of like their own private in-joke that no one else knows about.

What role would you like to see Thane play in ME3? Beyond continuing the romance or being a squadmate. Each squadmate brings a story to the game. Gives them something to talk about. So where do you see Thane going for ME3? What's his new story? Continuing his repairing his relationship with Kolyat? Organizing an infiltration mission with Shepard? Liason to the Hanar?
I'd really like to see Bioware organize a mission that concentrates on what a squadmates abilities are supposed to be. Thane is a precise assassin and a tracker. Get him to assassinate someone. Or, okay, for a slightly more positive use, I can imagine him playing as Shepard's eyes and ears as she needs to track a target, sort of a reversal of their roles from Thane's loyalty mission. (I always thought it should have been Thane keeping a watch on Joram while Shepard followed anyway.)
I've been thinking a lot lately about how they could continue the entire story. I mean, one thing could be bringing Kaidan/Ashley back investigating Shep's work with Cerberus while TIM tracks down Shep and his/her team. So while finding more evidences of proving a possible attack of the reapers in the future, Shep and the team will also have to avoid being tracked down by TIM. Maybe some members could get caught and Shep has to rescue them with the help of Kaidan/Ashley/Liara while other members could get caught by the Alliance for their past crimes, see Thane's past assinations, Jack's crimes, or their work for Cerberus (Jacob, Miranda), Legoion for the simple fact that he's a geth, Samara could get called away by the Alliance for help with a big crime and goes MIA, Mording could get caught by Krogans for his Genophage work which could bring Wrex back given he's survived Ilos and Shep has to rescue them while trying to convince Ash/Kaidan (and maybe the Alliance) that the reaper threat is way more important. That could be a possible plot line. Not only a way to continue the romance between any ME2 LI but also to bring back the ME1 LIs. And of course, finally revealing who the Shadow broker is with Liara's help. Maybe she gets caught by him and Shep has to rescue her, bringing the Shadow broker down for good.
Oh I love speculating.....and of course on all those missions we would learn more about everyone, Thane and his professional past, something that I am really interested in. I would like to know what people he has killed.

Great for him, but it doesn't really progress the story about Shepard and the Reapers very much.Daleron wrote...
Thane speaks of The Hanar Illuminated company ( or something) that's working on a cure. If we're lucky they make a cure that Thane gets

You know, for having perfect recall, I'd think that would somehow come to play during a battle situation with Thane. Have him pop up his head for a second and Shepard asks him what he sees. "Three krogans approaching from the left, a vorcha pyro by the second pillar, and prepare to see a varren in five seconds."

Thane's perfect memory....hm, I don't really know but it might come in handy maybe during a trial or something like that. Then again, all this given he has survived the suicide mission.
@MementoMori: I was about to ask but forgot so I'm asking now.....did you write that fanfic of the same name?

Here is the best of the very few pictures of my female Shepard and Thane (which I posted earlier), although Thane's face isn't visible. I plan to take more in the near future. I wish it was easy to take pictures off-screen.

I'm going to be a bit cruel here and mention that he did have a vital role during the suicide mission that was switched at the last moment in favor of someone else. But I'm not going to tell you what that role was.FieryPhoenix7 wrote...
Lastly, I was personally disappointed to see that Thane had no role to speak of during the suicide mission. This means, as much as I hate to say it, he wasn't entirely a necessary recruitment target.

I like to think of it as my reward for working as much as I did trying to work out the details of the suicide mission. Somashavasilec wrote...

What if we have to convince the Hanar who've been working on a cure / treatment that we're not just making it up? (Ah yes, "A Kepral's Syndrome Treatment / Cure". *picture Turian Councilor quote fingers here*)
Seeing as how it's the hanar and they worship the Protheans would they even acknowledge the Collectors as being once-Protheans or would they automatically villify and disregard any evidence Shepard could bring forth?
What would Thane say if you said you wanted to prolong his life with the very technology that he and Shepard are fighting so hard to destroy? I don't mean rebuild him ala Lazarus Project but more using tech / knowledge for selfish reasons (even though it would benefit the entire Drell race as a whole down the line). However, it would be a risky proposition, Thane might not make it out alive.
*cue dramatic music and Shepard pacing*
(But he really would.)
Or ... if that's something your Shepard just can't imagine, i.e. even using Collector / Reaper tech, then you don't and Thane could survive for however long he has left.
I definitely think Thane should have some passive bonus of being harder to target / hit, though, from the Blur trailer and his introduction at the Danitius Towers, Kasumi's Shadow Strike should have really been his bonus power.
"So you have perfect memory?"
"I believe we've been over this, Shepard."
"Okay. Then next time, before I take a few shots from those YMIR mechs, remember to tell me to change my ammo power."
"Point taken."

My gut reaction was to say the Hanar would never believe in the origins of the Collectors, never believe that the mass relays and Citadel were the creation of another race beyond the Protheans. But then for some reason I thought perhaps Shepard could convince the Hanar before anyone else if the Protheans continued to play some role into ME3. I can see the Hanar having the largest collection of Prothean artifacts, and any of those artifacts could be a key to helping Shepard fight the Reapers.kaimanaMM wrote...

I can see Thane and Kasumi stealing it for Shepard.
