Do you know what would make me absolutely puke? If Thane died inbetween ME2 and 3. And in ME3, Kolyat was a romancable party member.
That would be a very stupid thing to do. Did you hear me, Mr. Bioware?

Ah, that would explain why they excel at creating whiny male romanceable characters 9_9 though they partially redeemed themselves with Zevran and Thane imo
(and Valen, but that was a loooong time ago)
Uhm, going back to the Thane topic... there's something I've noticed but I don't know if you've already discussed it or not. Thane's personality doesn't shine a lot during his initial dialogues, you get to actually know him by seeing his actions during the recruiting and loyalty mission. On Illium, for example, you get to know that he's not a merciless killer because he spares/saves the salarian workers. Those missions are full of those subtle details that tell us more about him than his own words do.
It's weird since he says "The measure of an individual can be difficult to discern by actions alone."

Would we have guessed that if he had been married and his wife were killed that he'd be the kind of guy who'd hunt the killers down in cold blood and then torture them? Would we know that he abandoned his son after?
If anything, it's an indicator that he's the kind of guy who you'll need to really sit down and talk with before you get... well, maybe not the WHOLE picture... but more of it. Which is correct, and apparently noticeable if you're a male Shepard - less dialogue = thane deprivation. And he's calling Shepard out as well -- all that chaos and death, but is there more to him/her? dun Dun DUN!
Thane: He's there to snaps some necks and engage your mind... andmaybeyourpantstoo.
I actually bothered to look solipsism up on wikipedia the other day. I'd say I feel enlightened, but, clearly, solipsism is a concept I created. Just like I imagined all of you. BRB, imagining a tub of nutella.
edit: wish I could imagine this format to be less wonky. Quit double spacing my paragraphs!

Weird or appropriate enough? So we're running through Dassana's Whackytiems Funhouse and see he's saved some Salarians from the Eclipse carnies. We could assume from these actions alone that he's an assassin with a heart of gold, but is that the true measure of him? And when he drops out of the vent, we could probably assume he's one helluva B A M F. But is that all there is to him?

To quote Mordin, "Thane complex as well."
The part I enjoy the most is when he confides in Shepard about his wife and child. You no longer see the assassin but a man. Not an alien or something unknowable, just a man. I thought it was beautiful.

But Thane does have an "antiquated" feel to him; professionally, he's as up to date as anyone, even ahead of the game most of the time.
But on a personal level, he's antiquated. He follows the old religion, likes reading, reads the old philosophers, carries longsuffering romantic ideals, etc. He's not entirely sure how to merge into the main fold on a personal level. It's been a long time since he engaged people like that, and he was never allowed a normal life growing up.
It's cute, IMO; two sides to the same coin.

Am I the only one who has noticed that, of all the characters in the game, Thane is the only one that speaks rather eloquently? Not to mention his utter politeness and civility. No other character is like that.
Well, Samara does but Thane is the only male who does. I love that about him: the bowing and the poilteness he gives off. It is refreshing to see people like that in the game.
Have you guys get the feeling that Thane is not anger easily?
He is so calm but like what happened to his wife, don't hurt anyone he cares about or HE WILL FIND YOU.
Still makes me shiver to think what those Batarians did to her. *shivers*

It's very noticeable. His eloquence and politeness are almost unique when compared to other male characters. One of the reasons my FemShep couldn't help it with him.Pacifien wrote...
Actually, one of the appeals I had with Grunt when you actually do talk to him is that he comes across as surprisingly eloquent. But Thane probably does trump him in this regard because he's so incredibly calm about it.

Thane is also extremely well-read. I like that. Hale's sex kitten act is also noticeably absent. The romance is my favorite one in the series, if not my favorite Thane ship.
sex kitten act?

Yes, I loved Kaiden romance as well...
Yeah I don't like how they make FemShep seem like a Sex diva. She should be hesitant to have a romance since she is a commander and lives depend on her.
So I thought Thane's romance was quick satisfying. She asked about him, kept finding out about him, helped him with his son, and grew to know more yet still hold a mysterious that she can try to solve. I just love when Thane at first confesses that he cares for her. =) So sweet

I really think they shouldn't bring in another lot for romances for ME3. That's just me though I guess.
