For instance, I recently got a review on a story I'm writing. Kolyat is a main character, and in the last chapter, I raised this question:
"He'd done it only once before. But when one moment can be replayed a thousand times, does it still just count as one?"
And it got some people thinking about the implications of perfect memory on a drell's learning curve.
"It /is/ an interesting quandry, the perfect recall of the drell mind. I do have to wonder how that affects one's learning curve if you screw it up that first time. Hmm. . ."
"The memory snippets in general continue to be a nice touch, especially when they refer to in-game events. I know it serves other purposes but it does a really good job concreting the story in Bioware's universe. I particularly liked that line at the start, about whether or not a Drell's memory can have the effects of one event or one thousand. It might be fun to play around with that idea a bit more if you weren't planning to- if a Drell does something incorrectly the first time, could it make it that much harder to train their body to do it right? How connected are a Drell's muscle and cognitive memory? Does a profound event have more of an effect on a Drell than a Human? We've all experienced things that have made us question our beliefs and morals, but one of the ways we can cope is by suppressing or "blurring" the memory; since a Drell could relive those events in perfect detail, how does that effect how malleable they are? Especially in Kolyat's case, since he's in a very confusing place right now."
I love contemplating stuff like this.
Oh, and an obligatory crack!contribution:
