Thane was my favorite character in ME2, but isn't his short time left to live kind of integral to his character? Without this, I think he loses a lot of what makes him so interesting.

Thanks for responding Twitchmonkey!

We've adressed this pretty often in this thread, but here let me give you a summary of what most of us agree on.

We're here to support an optional cure for Thane Krios in future DLC or ME3.  For those that feel his death due to illness adds to his character, don't cure him!

I personally do not feel at all that curing him causes any loss in his character.  Curing him doesn't take away his soothing prayers, his unmatched martial arts / assassination skills, or his snappy dressing (<3 that coat).

Also, it was brought up that cure wouldn't take away the emotional experience you enjoy / suffer (:crying:)  during the time of his illness in ME2.  Curing him would honestly hurt nothing in his character.  An optional cure would make everyone happy. ^_^

Hey Thanefans, I had a question. He once mentions his son asking him to 'dance crazy'. Is that making the joke that I think it's making? It seems like the only logical conclusion, but a JRPG joke is so far out of left field...

I figured that this would have been addressed before, but it's a long thread, so perhaps some forgiveness is possible for my ignorance.

This doesn't really work for me that well. If a cure is out there and I don't give it to him, then I feel callous and evil, but I also feel that his struggle and his mission to fix the evils that he is done is made more poignant by the fact that he doesn't have much time to live.

Perhaps BW will disagree though, best of luck anyhow.

Lol not for sure on that!  I'm positive it's a reference to something.  Bioware has a tendancy to do that. ^_^

We all have our own opinions, and I respect yours!  Also, rather he had a short time to live or not, I believe he would've right the wrongs in his life eventually.  His illness just makes him do it sooner rather than later.

Thank you for posting anyways, and I hope you the best. ^_^

*EDIT* Also, if you let your comrade die from an illness, without even attempting to help find a cure... isn't that callous as well?

Only if a cure exists. How can it be a callous move to not find a cure that doesn't exist?

Because a cure is in the works, and you have a Salarien genius doctor aboard your ship that cured a plague on Omega, as well as balanced the Genophage.  Why wouldn't you want to take that opportunity to try and help your squadmate? ^_^

Coming over from the Tali camp to show our support here.  You guys finally got yours, and there should be a way to cure/keep him in ME3.

Well, assuming Mordin and Thane are still around in ME3, then I would be forced as a played to do what I could to save Thane, but I would prefer his ailment to be ultimately uncurable because I feel that gives more significance to his story. There is no reason for any urgency if you live forever, the closer death is, the more urgent your actions become.

For you, but everyone is different.  Again, I don't see how curing him would take away the good deeds he's already done. ^_^

Just my views on the situation, hopefully for you, BW will see things differently. If they do, while I will feel a little bit let down, I'll suck it up and give him the cure.
