Random question: Who's the Dragon Age equivalent of Thane?

Yeah I... yeah.  Um.

Well.

Mentality or skills?

He has Leliana's grasp of the spiritual, Zevran's skills, but Sten's strong, sensitive (c'mon, he likes cookies, picks flowers, and trains kittens) murdering-type of personality.

damn, how could i forget Sten? man, i had such a crash on that guy <3

Soooooo did I.

Ah, Sten, lol!

I think Zevran would be the closest overall, but then again, there are still differences.

Sandal, obviously.

Only Thane would be able to match that level of badassedness.   I can just imagine him singlehandedly neck snappin' and throat punchin' through a room of Darkspawn, then standing there afterwards, acting totally nonchalant.

My money is on either Zevran or perhaps even Loghain. Hear me out, does evil yet he believes it's for the better good (Thane, yes. Loghain, no) and both are veryt well renowned (Thane as the best assassin alive and Loghain as a war hero). That's just my opinion though.

Yes, sorry about that. Always get the name wrong, don't know why but it happens. Madness or what? I will correct that. But yes, Loghain.

I can see the trained killer and being a tool for someone else similarities between Thane and Zevran, and they're both ridiculously awesome in battle, but Zevran was such a... fun-loving sleazy slutbag.  And he was materialistic.  And shameless.  And potentially traitorous.  He is what I was afraid Thane was going to be.

I think that Thane is not like any character in DAO or aweakening he is just unike, and is not for being just "thane fan" XD, I love dao and zevran (and the dog) is awesome *^*, but I think that Thane is Thane XD

haha and I thought for sure Zevran was going to be like Thane - the spiritual, calm assassin type.  (I love Zevran, but I prefer Thane.)

I think what I was trying to say in my previous post, is what Hain said, he's cocky without being arrogant.  He's got the swagger, but he's not 'Look at thiiiiiis'.  Not enough coffee to process thoughts of swaggering Thane working out while listening to old, unfashionable music that early.

Shane Krios, evil twin and mustache twirling bad guy of ME3!

*twirls mustache*

"Muwahaha, human Reaper?  More like human sleeper!"

"Come Leron (Feron's mustache twirling counterpart)! To the evil lair where we shall commence the scheming!"

Hey by the way , talking of dao, I think that It will be great that bioware includes some more romance options ,something even better that in dao, (Shepard + Thane= alien-mutant-baby *^*)

What you think? If Shepard is going to die saving the galaxy (probably) I think that It will be great can enjoy more of the romance and in general of relations in the Normandy o.o

I don't think Thane should be cured, Don't get me wrong he was cool and all but i think it would be a majior cheapen of is character to pull such a thing, Rather see him go down in blaze of glory like he wanted to on suicide mission

*sigh* Here we go again.

S_b: you are welcome to your opinion but.... wait

Can be just keep resurrecting the old posts and reposting? Don't get me wrong its a great conversation starter. But after the third, actually I think this the fourth, at least since I've been coming to this board, that we had this discussion.

So...
People pointing out Thane + death = [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] makes me [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie].
because Thane + death = :crying:
After all death = death and death = :crying:
Death as a literary construct is easy. Turmoil and conflict isn't. Turmoil and conflict = then  then  and lastly :o with those of us ending up as

In summary....
Long live Thane. <3

This is quite possibly one of the best things ever.

I think this will be my response from now on to the 'Thane must die blahblahblah' posts.  Visual guides ftw!

like going down in blaze of glory isn't cheapening. come on, it's so cliche, just how cheap a writer must be to kill a character to add 'drama'?

all i can say is when i see a hero dying in recently released book/movie/game i find it generally 'meh, i've seen it before, don't you expect me to feel anything?' i'd be saddened if Thane's story ends up like this

Yeah and besides, ME3 is probably going to start right after ME2. Two or more months.

Yes I love that analogy and I'm with you, Hainkpe... about people saying Thane must die.

I mean Dang!

Good afternoon, Cure-seekers.

When people come in here with something like two sentences saying Thane shouldn't be cured, it's best to just not pay attention to it.   Either their decision isn't thought out well enough to require more than two sentences to get across or they're just trying to get a rise out of the fangirls.

And we're far too dignified for this.

I get the feeling that it looks cool and badass to some people to want some character they 'like' to die

or maybe it should be an indication of how sophisticated and wise their worldview is

duh

the easy proof that Thane is not emo is that i fiercely want all emos to die

and i don't want Thane to die

brilliant

I dunno.  It has its place.   I don't think Dragon Age had a happy ending, no matter what you chose, and I think that's part of what ended up making me love and hate it so much.  But, for the sake of all that is shiny, keep that in Dragon Age.  If every BioWare video game ends up like that, I'll need to stop playing them.  Or get a prescription for anti-depressants.

This isn't Hamlet.  This isn't George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire.  This isn't Sparta.  The fate of the Galaxy is at stake.  Personal tragedy really shouldn't overshadow that in a video game.
