Here is a sad fact: A Shepard who romanced Jacob can share a kiss with him during their first post-suicide mission conversation, whereas a Shepard who romanced Thane just gets to hear a single semi-generic line from him post-suicide mission.

that's better than what Shepards who romance Garrus get

I don't know about Garrus, but I'd imagine him to be no different than Thane -- basically commenting on what happened to the base. Or not?

Garrus mentions the base, but regarding the romance....all he says is, "part of me thinks we're still crazy for wanting to blow off steam," as if nothing happened.
I think a nuzzle would've been nice.
I'll romance Thane on my next playthrough.

That's so unfair!!

I'm starting to think there's some kind of scheming on Bioware part... They want us to romance Jacob for some reason!

The signs are there:

1.- FemShep voice when talking to him
2.- Jacob is the only LI that asks Shepard if there's something troubling her
3.- Kasumi will remember you how hot she think he is
4.- And romance specific dialog ( kiss included ) after suicide mission!!

Something is fishy here!

No one is making anyone romance Jacob if they don't want to. All you have to do is just not talk to him if you don't want to, and I thought this thread was about Thane not Jacob.

Hey, I just had this weird idea. WOuld it be funny if Thane did crawl around the vents? XDD

I can see taht confrontation now.

Jacob: *gun pointed at Thane* He was crawling in the vents, Shepard!"

Thane: *calm and silent*

Jacob: What were you doing there? Ready to kill us? Shepard?

Thane: No

Jacob: Then what?

XDDD I bet Thane spied on Shepard. XDDDD Man I wished they did have a confrontation.

I doubt Thane would be caught. You know, if he gets to the point where he has to fight is way out through soldiers it means he is not doing is job properly. ;)

I think they could have fit a conforantation during the suicide mission

You pick Thane or jacob to do a specialty and it gets set off
Such as jacob second fire team he won't trust thane on his crew so unless you take him conforantation will be set off
Or if you Leave thane and jacob both to hold the line it will hurt your hold the line score

Suicide mission needed more complexity

No, please, no more squadmate confrontations! It was bad enough that all the women on the team except Samara get into fights, if the guys were to start as well I'd airlock 'em all - no matter how much I love Thane. Besides, Thane and Jacob don't seem to be the type to have a confrontation like that; Thane's too much of a professional and Jacob would probably decide it's not worth it. Their confrontation is basically the conversation after you've recruited Thane, and they both decide to drop the issue after that.

Anyway, I just took Thane on Grunt's loyalty mission and he said something that appears to suggest that Drell don't go through puberty, or any kind of change when they become adults. So what does that mean? Do drell age quickly like salarians? I suppose if drell women don't have breasts they wouldn't go through as many physical changes as human women, but it still seems a little strange that there wouldn't be any change. I really wish ME3 will let us explore alien cultures, because I am really goddamn curious right now.

Yeah but still funnyImage IPB

Why do I get this image of Thane wearing a lamp shade on top of his head in Shepard's quarters? XDDDDD

Shepard: When did I get a new lamp?

Sorry guys, I'm in a silly mood. XD *bonks self*

I don’t know. I kind of liked the confrontations. It made sense that all these personalities would start to clash, since they’re stewing together on this ship for so long, without much to think about except what seems to be their imminent death and/or destruction of the galaxy. I agree that I can’t see Thane getting into a confrontation though (at least, not starting one) and even all the crap Jacob went through on his loyalty mission didn’t shake him once it was done and over with, so I can’t really see Jacob starting one, either. But I do agree that the suicide mission could’ve used an extra step. I love it the way it is and I still get very excited to play through it, but I would’ve liked the option to use Thane as a specialist somewhere. Maybe Mordin and Grunt too, but Mordin’s specialty is researching new weapons and tech for the team, and holding the line is right up Grunt’s ally. I did feel, on my first playthrough, that Thane was sort of floating out there. I was waiting for something to pop up where he would be an obvious choice, and nothing did.

You mean the “this is a biological change for you” line? Neat interpretation. I never took it as Thane meaning drell don’t go through biological changes, just commenting on that fact that Grunt was going through one. If you take Miranda I think she says something like, “So wait, this is puberty?” and Samara comments on it being like entering the maiden stage. Of course, I think it says in the codex that drell babies are capable of eating solid food from birth, so there’s one change they don’t have to go through. That would mean drell women don’t need breasts. I also hope ME3 brings in some more info about the aliens. I’d love to see more homeworlds. We’ve been to Tuchanka and part of the flotilla, so maybe we will. Here’s hoping for Kahje.

Some of the other things Thane will mention about the Krogan are how their instinct to kill almost seems pure, and he envies their ability to be at peace with it.

When he says "That's a biological change for you?" I thought he was referring to the sudden desire to destroy everything XD  But yeah, I agree- Interesting interpretation.

As for a confrontation... I think it could go either way.  He was kinda surly when you first picked him up.

"I was curious to see how far you'd go to find me.  Well.  Here I am."  *intense lizard stare*

and

"I needed a diversion.  You needed to speak with me.  You certainly fulfilled your end of the bargain.  What would you like to discuss?"  So snotty.  Soooo snotty!  rawr.

And when Jacob's going on about not liking assassins, mercenaries, and the like, Thane defends himself rather than waiting for Shepard to step in.

But then, I think it'd be hard to push the confrontation past that.  Thane is trying to get in touch with his son and help him, while Jacob's having father issues.  I can't see either giving the other **** after a loyalty mission involving subjects that hit so close to home.  Afterall, Thane's doing what Jacob probably would have liked his dad to do, and Thane can probably understand Jacob's angst.

And the rest of the time, Thane's just... really laid back.

*dust flick*

And I doubt Jacob would risk getting his ass kicked by Shepard for insubordination.

Why is it when you pass on Jacob for either Garrus or Thane he gets mean? Jacob calls Garrus a cuttlebone when Shepard chooses Garrus over him. Then he says something about big brown eyes when Shepard chooses Thane over him. That just seems, petty. If you choose someone over Thane he says he would still be there but his time is short. Garrus almost seems relieved. Its an interesting contrast.

Jacob's a bit judgmental. I also think he is envious of how Thane and Garrus have baggage yet don't let themselves drown in it.

Last night while playing, I'd just gotten back from a mission and did the conversation run around on the ship with people. Decided to brave a conversation with Jacob, though I did do a quick save beforehand, and he won't talk to me about his daddy. But even though Shepard's romancing Thane, I could still hit on Jacob and he still accepted it - unlike Garrus who called me out. I was confused.

And then restored to a previous save.

It's not surprising that he reacts that way. You are dumping him. His reaction isn't any different than Ashleys if you pick Liara over her.  I don't think you can compare his reaction to the way Thane or Garrus react. He's human they are not. Humans sometime say stupid and mean things.

How is he envious? He just doesn't trust Thane. He has no problem with Garrus. He likes Garrus just fine unless you dump him for Garrus.

Your argument is sound.

I should make a Jacob-specific Shepard, throw the game on easy mode, and we'll have some time.  Just because.  Because... Poor Jacob.

And thus, his stint as a baggage clerk at a spaceport in the Traverse before joining the Alliance military was a short one.

Okay folks, I don't mean to intrude on the discussion but I would like to reveal my lastest creation!  For the most part he's done besides a few touch ups on the paint, especially the eyes..  If anyone has suggestions, they're completely welcome.  Now without more of my babbling I give you Drell Assassin, Thane Krios! (Sorry the pics are so big, don't know how to make them smaller)
