I finally managed to finish LotSB and I'm confused now, I don't know what to believe. Do the others have LI specific texts in their dossiers? If it's just Thane that has, then, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I love that scene of Thane walking with Feron.
I, too, feel depressed about Thane but I have hope. Thinking about it and I realize it was a letter he wrote in preparation of his death but he's in a different place when going through the Omega Relay. He might want to change it or maybe is thinking about writing something else. The part I wonder about is, did he ever intend to tell Shepard he loved her. Not just write it? Shepard needs to hear that. Heck, I need to hear him say it.

The way I interpret this, is Thane wrote the letter some time post-suicide mission, and is keeping it to himself until he figures out what to do with it.

I used one of my Garrus-probed Sheps since she romanced Liara, and who I've decided is going to be my ho!Shep. Lead Kaidan on, and chose Liara in ME1. Lead Jacob on, but cheated with Garrus in ME2. Desperately wanted to invite Feron to join her and her Smurfette for a threesome in her quarters.
I see I'm going to have to replay this with a drell-licking Shep and soon. And with tissues. And...and...

Before playing the Shadow Broker DLC I was actually torn between no cure for Thane ( a part of me thinks it would cheapen him... ) and cure him.
But... but now, hell, If they don't cure him I am so totally going to rampage Bioware HQ, all of them!!
I don't want to think that my Shepard will only have a few months with him when the game ends

Fiery I find your interpretation interesting. I thought he wrote the letter right before the suicide mission. Mainly because of how everyone was talking, about not coming back. Now that he came back, it makes me wonder if the letter could change.

Some of those dossiers were just heartbreaking in general (I found Garrus' especially heartwrenching). At least Thane's was bittersweet. I sort of took Liara's advice to heart, appreciating the time that's left with Thane.
As much as I would like a cure for Thane, I am highly doubtful that it's forthcoming. Bioware proved that they aren't above breaking my heart when they had Alistair break up with me in Dragon Age Origins (that one still stings).

I actually did sniffle quite a bit reading Thane's letter, but it was talking to Liara on the Normandy where I just lost it. And yes, I did have actual tears, call me a dork if you must, but the way the conversation was, the way Shepard sounded it just hit me like a one, two punch.
I don't know if I'm hopeful or depressed. Both, probably. I'm part cynic, like Mash, but part optimist, like Cindalkitty.
I wonder when the letter was written. I can see it being written right before epic table fist punch scene. Thane being calm, composed, putting his feelings into words and then when he writes he gets all worked up and heads to the Sheploft. But, I can also see him writing it after all is said and done, in the aftermath of ME2.
The BW crew is either full of evil geniuses or just evil, period. I still see possible treatment for Thane, taking us right up to the edge, keeping us all in suspense.
And I have a pitchfork and a kitten, both can be used should the need arise.
