But taking away Thane's disease has nothing to do with how "mysterious" he is. The only thing it would take away is his expiration date. I doubt he would have been any less interesting if he wasn't dying. His character is a great deal more than just a codex entry for Kepral's Syndrome. Plus, his being cured has the potential to be a stunning story arc.

*hugs Calla*

I just don't understand why the few people that post these remarks can't get past that.. Thane IS NOT his illness.  He would still do absolutely everything he has done in the game eventually even if he wasn't ill.

If anything is a serious driving force for Thane it's his son Kolyat and FemShep (if romanced).  His illness does nothing to contribute to his wife's murder, his skills as an assassin, or want to do good in the Galaxy.

*hugs!*

Exactly! There's so much more behind his character. Sure, his disease makes him a bit more urgent to get things wrapped up, but he was still ready to die, disease or no, after the Dantius assassination. But Shepard saved him. Why couldn't she save him again?

He now knows he has so much more to life for. After reuniting with his son and falling in lurve~* with FemShep, it'd be beyond tragic if it wasn't an option in ME3. I'd be inconsolable.

Never said he is mysterious, said he is a tragic character. Curing his disease is taking away that element of his character and changing him. His disease can make for a much more stunning story element in my opinion. As I said earlier, have him at some point give his life to save Shepard.

He's dying but decides to go out on his own terms rather than suffering a slow death. Heck make it part of the whole romance, in his final loving act he takes a shot meant for Shepard, giving his life to save hers as well as sparing her having to watch him suffer as the disease gets worse.

To not give us an option and push that on those of us that do not support it is very unfair.

How would you feel we pushed a non-optional cure for Thane on you?  Obviously you wouldn't like it.

Please, try to see our point of view.^_^

Same here.  It's one thing to be upset if a cure is forced onto those that don't want it, yet it just seems that non-supporters dont' even see our point of view. :?

Yes, but there is a difference between belonging to a religion and his level of zealotry if you will. Ashley believes in a God, but it hardly comes up at all, that isn't the same as with Thane who is heavily devoted to his beliefs.

I would accept it because thats what they decided to do. Just like I hate the changes they made to Liara but I accept it. I do see your point of view and just disagree with it because I think it would ruin one of my favorite characters, but then I have a love for tragic characters and hate to see the thing that makes them that suddenly "fixed".

Those are completely assumptions that your basing a very serious opinion on.  You never met Thane before he speaks of his illness so you have no idea rather he was as much of a religious person before hand.  You only experience Thane as a very religious individual.

He could have (and I believe he was) always like that.

Why would a hunter only begin praying for a hunt when he's sick?  A hunter would always pray for a swift kill.  Thane, as always been a hunter.  So therefore in that logic, he would always pray.

I still think an optional cure would be nice. Those who wants to cure him, can cure him. Thane being a LI is the only LI that can die without the player being able to do *anything*. Not everyone liked Kaidan. :( And personally, I like having a LI somewhere that ties my Shepard more into the game. Difficult to explain but... agh, whatever.

Aye, it'd be like if at the end of Romeo & Juliet, Juliet got up, was fine, and the story ended in hugs and champagne. Really would have changed the whole feeling of the play. we would have to tolerate it if that is what Shakespeare had decided, but I'm glad he did not.

Stories like this wouldn't be any fun if everything was spelled out for you. We don't know how he was before he learned about his disease, we can assume he held the same beliefs, but maybe he always put as much weight in them, and maybe his deep connection was a response to his impending mortality.

I think both options are possible, but I find the latter more interesting.

Bigguy28, I'm not at all trying to be rude when I say this, but.. this is a Thane support thread.  I can't thank you enough for you to express your feelings, but we want to help a cure for Thane.  It's one thing to upset someone with a 'fix' it's another thing to KILL off a character completely.

I'm not a fan of tragedy when it's unnessecary, and in Thane's case.. it isn't necessary as we have not fully explored options.

Please consider this.

Thats a very unfair comparison imo.  This is NOTHING like Romeo & Juliet.  They had no alternative.  Who's saying Thane doesn't?

The devs certainly aren't.  They put clues in the game to point to a possible cure, they add a genetic scientist to your crew, and they develop a story arc which puts Thane in the position to want to live.

Unless all the potential LIs croak at the end, having Thane's disease continue along its course without any means to cure it would be ridiculous.

My two cents. Whatever.

Calla, we could argue with these people all day and I still don't think they would see our point of view.

We're not going off on a rampage to destroy a character.  We're trying to support fairness, and an option to keep a character alive.

*rubs temples* Lol.. so tedious.  Well at least it's keeping the thread up! :P

There's always going to be opposition when there's strong support.  Doesn't matter rather we put up 'add flowers to Mass Effect!!'  There would be a group that says 'I hate flowers!! Rawr!' <_<

If Romeo would have waited a few more minutes, things would have turned out completely differently. He didn't, and that colors how we feel about the play today.

We don't know there is an option to cure Thane. Mordin has mused about the possibility of curing Joker, but then remarked that a cure would cause liver failure, he is a brilliant scientist, but he isn't a god.

And of course Thane wants to live, if he didn't that whole aspect of his character wouldn't matter.

I'm sorry Twitch but we're just going in circles.  lol

I don't agree with you, and you don't agree with me.  I hope at some point you can see our point of view and join the fanclub to help support Thane.  Until then, I can only hope you the absolute best. ^_^

Stupid flowers! Ruining everything! UGH! My Shepard is allergic to flowers, fyi.

Ahem, but yeah... it's frustrating, but it's going to happen no matter how long a thread's up or how beaten the dead horse actually is. Why can't we have a great character die? They wouldn't be as awesome if they were't suffering from the drell form of cancer~

I don't see why we can't just all hold hands.
