I'm sorry Twitch but we're just going in circles.  lol

I don't agree with you, and you don't agree with me.  I hope at some point you can see our point of view and join the fanclub to help support Thane.  Until then, I can only hope you the absolute best. ^_^

And I can only hope you're gonig to begrudgingly acept it if a cure doesn't materialize and not QQ too much all over the forums. I've already said I will accept it if a cure is available, begrudingly of course.

Unless all the potential LIs croak at the end, having Thane's disease continue along its course without any means to cure it would be ridiculous.

My two cents. Whatever.

Calla, we could argue with these people all day and I still don't think they would see our point of view.

We're not going off on a rampage to destroy a character.  We're trying to support fairness, and an option to keep a character alive.

*rubs temples* Lol.. so tedious.  Well at least it's keeping the thread up! :P

There's always going to be opposition when there's strong support.  Doesn't matter rather we put up 'add flowers to Mass Effect!!'  There would be a group that says 'I hate flowers!! Rawr!' <_<

Stupid flowers! Ruining everything! UGH! My Shepard is allergic to flowers, fyi.

Ahem, but yeah... it's frustrating, but it's going to happen no matter how long a thread's up or how beaten the dead horse actually is. Why can't we have a great character die? They wouldn't be as awesome if they were't suffering from the drell form of cancer.

Lol.. omgah.. I'm laughing so hard.

Damn it!  Take some allegra!  We're going to have flowers in ME!

*beats the dead horse with a baseball bat!* :pinched:

But what if the flowers they give us are ugly? I want pretty flowers or none at all! Damnit, BioWare, you dropped the damn ball!

... XD Seriously, I don't get it, but we might as well play along.

If Thane was a vital story element to the ME universe I'd probably be more inclined to agree that he shouldn't be cured, but they story doesn't need a Thane character nor Samara (along with a few others, albeit they are compelling none the less). At this point, should it really matter, story wise, that Thane is cured? Does this affect anything/anyone other than Shepard and Kolyat in the series? I personally really want there to be a cure for Thane out of fairness. Many female players (speaking mostly of myself) were not happy and felt screwed over with the ME1 love interests since we had to choose between a girl and a not so interesting human guy.

Now in ME2 the devs gave us Garrus (someone many fans asked for) and Thane (someone most female players have come to love just as much as male players love Tali), if Thane has to die it seems really unfair that when there is finally a love interest who is very romantic and pretty much what fans were asking for to have in the second game, he has to be killed off for pretty much no reason? ME2 was about personal issues with the characters (of course the quarians, ect. had a lot more to do with the story) but why not cure Thane? The cure is pretty much for Shepard so that she may enjoy his company for a longer amount of time, it doesn't have anything to do with the main story at all. Besides, his character is not, to me, defined by his 'dying'. If Bioware does cure him, I'm sure they'll do it in a tasteful way or at least optional as many suggest.

If anyone has seen the movie Stranger than Fiction, the ending of that movie really explains it all.

Like I said, I see your point of view, I really do. I'm happy to see a Thane love thread, he's a great character and really deserving of the love. But as you say, you aren't seeing my point of view. Curing his disease is taking away from this great character a part of him that makes him such a great character. He's dying, he wants to make up for all the terrible things he has done in his life because of this. Whos to say that if he were to suddenly get cured he wouldn't go back to his old life now that he can put off "making up for bad things" for a few more years.

Thank you very much for the support.  I completely agree with you.

For the non-supporters, if I thought it'd TOTALLY destroy Thane's character.. I wouldn't have done this.  I don't see it this way.  A cure wouldn't kill the tragic emotions you felt.  A cure wouldn't take away his skill or the good he's done.

If anything, a cure would add to him (just like Shepard's death did to the character), and motivate him to not take anything for granted.

Have you ever seen "Broken Lizard's Club Dread"? No? well go see that movie and you'll understand our position.

Sorry, that was a really obscure Family Guy reference, carry on.

He's not immature. He's a grown man who has come to see the error in his ways and is trying to repent. If he was to be cured, I doubt he would pick up his sniper rifle and go shoot some babies for kicks to make up for all the good he's done. If anything, that brush with death would keep him along the path he's on now. He's an incredibly serious man. He's not going to go "Healed? Not dying? AWESOME! Let's tear some crap up!" And anyway, BioWare would no doubt be able to handle keeping him true to his character. His being healed would enable female Shepards to continue the romance as well as watch him grow into his full potential as a character in the long run.

We do enjoy Thane. If we weren't fans, I don't think we'd care enough to post, from either position. I'm sure that BW will do something great with his character in ME3, not sure what form that will take, but I anticipate great things from Thane.

And for something completly different: If there's no cure, we'll be sad, but we'll move on (just a pixel character, unfortunatly), but hey, we have to say we're interested in a cure for him while we can, right? :wizard:

You don't seem to understand that the optional route doesn't satisfy those that have embraced his mortality any more than making it complusory. If you make it optional, you require that the person not allowing him to have it be evil, and if they were evil Thane would not likely have been interested in them in the first place.

Denying Thane an existing cure isn't the same as a cure not existing.

Really rather not in all honesty.

Why?

Because theres a limited amount of spaces and they cannot bring everyone back. There are more popular characters.

Although I do think he has somewhat of a chance, I'd expect him to be behind Tali, Garrus, Miranda, Kaiden, Ashley, Liara, Wrex etc but above Jack and Jacob at least :P

I respect that you have your opinion, I just felt it necessary that an optional cure does nothing to satisfy those that would have him be incurable, something you didn't seem to acknowledege. I have no problem with you wishing for your desires in this to be satisfied, that's a given.

There comes a point when you just want to beat your head on the edge of your desk.
