That's right, I am so against Thane dying that I must sign in caps.

Maybe the Hanars will get a breakthrough and find a cure soon enough.

I like Thane, but I think an ending scene with FemmyShep shedding a tear and a flower over his grave at the end of ME3 would appeal to all the tragic romanticists out there.
Maybe so, but to those of us who aren't (and there are many of us..) this just wouldn't be fair or acceptable.
Good drama over keeping a wonderful character alive? No thanks. <_<

Thane is slowly becoming one of my favorite characters in general. I would be somewhat interested in seeing that tragic ending, but I'll be a lot happier if we could also see how things work out if we do find a cure. I want to see moar character development. I want to see moar romance. I want everything. Options, people. OPTIONS! *Flails*

I understand that. All I want is an option to save him, so we can all be happy. Otherwise my poor FemShep will be an empty shell afer saving the universe.

Instead, he's going to spend what little time he has with his son. Now whether his son gets involved or not is another question.
I mean think about it. If you were in that kind of situation, wouldn't you spend what little time you had with the one you cared about?

And the one he cares about (for those that persued a love interest) is also FemShep. If you romance him, and choose dialogue options, he says he'll watch over you and not allow his body to fall before it's time.
I personally don't think they'll kill off Thane through the illness. How fair is that to introduce such a wonderful character, spend so much time and money investing in him (the devs said he was one of the most challenging) then kill him off?
Rather you believe Thane will live or not, why not show support in keeping him by posting what you want to devs to implement?

No make it really interesting and have Thane's son join you in ME3 whether or not Thane survives the suicide mission. Would be a lot more Dramatic and interesting, especially if FemShep romanced Thane.
I would enjoy that....if Kolyat's voice wasn't so creepy.
Kid sounds like Gollum.

^ I can't agree with this. He was never trained to be an assassin. Thane was trained since the age of six, Kolyat(sp) doesn't have any training what so ever. It wouldn't make any sense to take him on your mission that has a low probablity of survival.

And yeah, Kolyat wouldn't be a good replacement for Thane. No training and he wouldn't be able to train much, if at all between ME 2 and ME 3. Besides, personally I'd feel rather odd being around him if Thane's dead... O.o

*sigh* Martial artist, philosopher, sniper, good sense of humor, great facial expressions, deep emotional scenes, and that voice! Too much NOT to have in ME3. (Let's not forget the jacket)

Them saying he was the most challenging is simple. How do you make the most notorious assassin in the galaxy a warm and heartfelt individual to the player?
Bingo.
I'm not saying I want him gone. Quite the contrary. I found him to be one of the deepest and more enjoyable characters in ME2. But as a writer, I also see the writing on the wall.

They added a chain mail in the game discussing a cure for (specifically named) Kepral's Syndrome through religious meditation. I don't believe the developers would just randomly include a signal of hope for no reason. Im not saying that this is the cure for Kepral's Syndrome, but the writers wouldn't put themselves in a corner with just one character. That's would be miserably unfair.

*sigh* if this game wants to be dark then people have to die, they already bowed over for the everybody must live crowd with the sucide mission..... No more god damn fairytail endings...people MUST DIE.
If you want that for your story then I respect your opinion. I doubt that Bioware would force a 'fairytale' ending on anyone. They haven't so far. Those that want death and tragedy I'm sure will have the option for it (Ex: Blood Bath Ending).
The support of a 'fairytale' ending doesn't seem as certain as possible deaths. This thread is to support the choice to save Thane.

There was also a chain mail discussing Prothean artifacts that you could have access to by giving the sender your account information and for a credit withdrawal.
As for a fairytale ending, ME isn't designed to end that way. Part of why ME2 is so dark and gritty is to pound that home for those that still haven't realized it.

The hanar have not yet figured prominently into the series. There's still room for their medical assistance to become crucial in curing Thane.
Medicine? Bah! I hope we have to seek out some saged hanar mystic to cure Thane.
That would be awesome.

The game is dark, even if you choose to help everyone survive. Piles of corpses, watching someone die horribly in front of you, the notes from the plague victims in Omega, etc. The rest is up to the player, no?
There has to be something left to live for after facing all that. Why not Thane?
