In the Male shepard playthrough, who would you like to see Thane get together with if possible?

I was talking to one of my friends today who just started playing Mass Effect (she's playing 1 before going into 2) and I mentioned Thane.



She said she'd totally romance him.



If she were playing a male!Shepard.



I had to break her heart.

Thanks for the pep talk! I needed that - and Thane pep talk > military pep talk. I'll save the page and look at it when I feel particularly pessimistic.

To tell the truth, I don't want him with anyone else than Femshep! I can't see him with Miranda - the whole human supremacy thing is too much to overcome, I think, with her - plus she's more about the physical side of the relationship. I always thought that first you became friends with Thane, then it grew into more. I can't see that with Miranda. Kelly - is a bit of a ****. I don't see her limiting herself into a relationship - and I think she would irritate Thane. He has his own beliefs and likes debating them to a certain point - but I really don't see how that could work out. Jack - I don't think she'll ever really be a properly functioning human being - something tells me as soon as she has a viable relationship she'll sabotage it so it can't betray her. I could be wrong, but I don't think Thane would be the one to prove that. Thane is more introverted than otherwise, he needs someone to care about him first, then he expresses interest. Just after his assassination of Nassana, when you express concern for his wellbeing ("I hadn't heard that. Is there anything I can do to help?") his voice softens and warms when he answers "giving me this opportunity is enough" and then he offers his personal insight on what has happened.

Tali - I think she's too young, too different. I could see him interested in her as a kind of uncle figure, but not otherwise. Gabby - well, I don't think she's interested in aliens, and I doubt Thane would compete with Ken for her, if he won't compete for Femshep's attention.

Actually, the only other option would be Dr Chakwas. I actually can kind of see that. Both older, more mature people, and the Doc would be concerned over him. Well, in the ManShep parallel universe, I hope she nags him into getting organ transfers because with or without FemShep, Thane is worth keeping around!

That's just on the Normandy, though. Are you thinking about all ME1 & 2 characters?

That's a difficult question.

I always thougth that Samara and Thane are quite similar, and would get along well, but nothing romantic for obvious reasons on Samara side.

Also I don't really think Thane needs to end up with anyone, sometimes just having some really good friends helps a lot.

Edit: writing this at work isn't good for health....

As I was saying, good friends help a lot, so in a maleShep playthrougth I can see him going back to Kolyat, and may be meeting another Drell and start over, doing things better this time. ( I was going to say If he gets cured, but of course he will....  )

I just updated my fanfic if anyone is interested Purely from Thane's point of view. I have a pretty elaborate quest going on to find Thane a cure, so it really is related to this thread!

This makes me remember a time I was using Thane and Samara in my squad. 
Things went something like this:

Samara: *kills enemy* Embrace eternity!

Thane: *kills enemy* Embrace the Ocean!

I also don't really see Thane getting into a relationship with anyone.  

I do see him becoming friends with Samara and Kasumi, even Dr. Hacksaw.  I think with Miranda he'd be courteous, but it would always remain professional.  Tali is about Kolyat's age, I don't think Thane is looking in that direction.  I have this bit in my head where I see Kelly trying to get Thane to open up about his life or his past assassinations and he knowingly gives her false information, with that slight half smile he gets when he says something sneaky that makes you go, 'Wait, what?'.

Out of everyone on the ship I see him becoming closest to male Shepard, Jacob, Garrus and Grunt.  I think, had Pressley lived, he and Thane would have had some interesting mess hall conversations over morning coffee and hot chocolate.  Instead, I bet he and Legion would have killer philosophical debates - and dance contests.

Question: According to LotSB, Thane was responsible for the One Hour Massacre on Omega. What do you think may have happened? Assassination gone wrong, gone right or simply drumming up business - he did say there wasn't much work for an assassin on Omega, didn't he? I want to learn more about this!

Oh I SO want to hear more about that!!
I mean, a massacre.
That's a pretty big deal.
Especially since this is Thane.
He doesn't exactly go around purposefully massacring people a whole lot.
He only mentions the one time when he killed in such a ruthless way, and that when he was seeking revenge.

So i figure either it has something to do with that, or like Shara has said, he made a mistake and the media probably exaggerated it by calling the incident a massacre.

Me too!  I want to hear Thane tell us more of his exploits.  I assumed that it was part of his 'clean up' project.  Maybe Omega was the first stop before the Citadel?

How many necks can Thane snap in 1 hour?

In my head, I can pair up every other LI in a given game with other characters...except Thane (and Garrus*).

Shepard was the one who awoke him, and I don't think anything less than a Siha, in his eyes, would have been able to pull off that feat. 

Although he was unattached, he was essentially off the market, so to speak.  So even in a mShep world, he wasn't seeking out companionship (telling him to get out and mingle with the crew doesn't count) and I don't see
anyone else pursuing him.

Having said that, in "another time, another life" a Thane/Kasumi pairing might be cute.  But she also says he isn't her type.  Boo-urns!



*Garrus has that whole awkward interspecies thing going on.  So unless we see a female turian in ME3 (hahayeahright), I think a non-romanced Garrus would continue to...uh, calibrate on his own.

Yeah! By completing his loyalty mission, he has hope for the future especially makes him love Shepard more because she gave hope to his son and him at the same time.

As his letter said...shining light in the darkness.
