Late reply is late.

re: physical attraction

I can't help but think that Thane was attracted to Shepard early on. We can't see his pupils to be sure, but I'm sure it goes a little something like this:

S: Friends, huh? That's a start.

T: A start? That's...*eyeballs her up and down*...intriguing.

I loved that scene. The sound of his soft laugh before continuing. I did get the feeling he gave her body a once over.  I got chills when he said "intriguing." Now, if he licked his lips before saying intriguing, I probably would have melted into a puddle of goo.

I have seen people write AND Liara said that Shepard was just trying to replace his dead wife. WTF? I don't get that. Because you married and lost your spouse, you can never love again? How does that work?

And the whole, he's calling her "Siha" which was Irikah's nickname, that doesn't make sense either. So if you were in a relationship where they called you "baby" or "babygirl" or "love" or "honey" then if that relationship ends no one can call you that ever again?

None of that makes any sense!

Whoa whoa whoa... a booty call?

First, a booty call is more along the lines of Sheploo and un-romanced Jack down in engineering.

Second, this term, if applicable to Thane, would have to apply to almost everyone in both games pre-final mission trying to get a piece before taking on what is supposed to be total and utter doom.

Third, SHEPARD is the one to suggest they should get it on.  Thane'd just poured his heart out, but none of it was "...and due to all of this, I think we should bone."  OH OH OH I KNOW.  HE WAS JUST MANIPULATING HER INTO HIS LEATHER PANTS.  CLEVER BOY.  IT WAS ALL PART OF A HIGHLY LECHEROUS AND ELABORATE PLAN.

edit: I will need to find whoever first even dared to entertain this idea, and give them a stern talking to.

and take away their internets.  for they are unworthy.

I am with you CIN!

Obviously, whomever said Thane was a booty call has never been part of such activity because let me tell you, there is no talking about emotions during a booty call. Nope. No talking, just... yeah... Image IPB

The "siha" thing gets me worked up too. A large number of people who say Thane's just looking for a warm body cite this as the reason--he called Irikah "siha" so you're just being fooled into a sexy drell's trap! I've always though of "siha" as a term of endearment, like "baby" or "darling" or "honey". It isn't like he's forcing Shep to tape down her boobies and draw on fake scales.

[quote]

I hate when people use that as an excuse too. I also look at it like you said like calling someone baby or sweetheart. So that was one thing that never bothered me. Also I don't know if he called his wife siha. He never says he did. All he says is that his wife was one and that Shepard is one. For all I know he called his wife something else. I don't remember it ever being said that he called his wife that. Like i said before it doesn't bother me if he did.

Truth.  He doesn't say he called Irikah siha.  He says, 'But I met another siha."  He could have called her sugarlips or shnookems.  Everyone calls Shepard Shepard.

Shepard, but you're dead!

Screw you, Shepard!

Shepard!  My friend!

So tell me how you really are Shepard, not just what you tell your crew to keep morale up.

Thane's the only one who calls Shepard by another name, siha.  I zero'd in on that far more quickly than I even considered he possibly called Irikah siha at some point.

And if it was an elaborate sexy drell trap ... then well played Thane.  Well played.

It's a trap I'd willingly fall into.  ;)

Decided to stop lurking and show support for sexy drell love in ME3. I will cling onto the hope that a cure or solution for Thane will be present in the game with every fiber of my being. My favorite video game character ever (hard to even call him that, considering he's so much more to me than a fictional character.) KEEP THANE ALIVE IN ME3!

To be honest it never even crossed my mind that he called Irikah siha. When he says he met another siha I didn't take that to mean he called his wife that. I just took it to mean that they shared certain traits that made them both sihas. If he did it doesn't bother me. I still love that he calles Shepard siha. I smile everytime he does it.

If it was a trap then I happily walked right into it. Image IPB

Love when Thane calls Shep Siha, a sweet display of affection. And nice to hear yourself referred to something other than Shepard. Irikah didn't cross my mind too much when I was with Thane :whistle:I was always so concentrated on him and Shep.

Something I never thought of before my most recent playthrough of ME2:

When Thane shows up just before the suicide mission, FemShep is reading a datapad. When he comes through the door, she exclaims, "Thane!" and the datapad disappears (from the scene, at any rate). Question: What do you think she was reading? A little supplementary data provided by her concerned Salarian doctor, do you think? It just struck me that she was a little taken off balance by his appearance, and I wondered if the datapad had any significance. (I'm probably reaching, here).

I want to believe she was reading Mordin's "research" about drells and "oral contact." Image IPB

Because to me, when Mordin tell Shepard to... ahem.... "not ingest" with Garrus, I took it to mean "oral contact" was in the same fashion with Thane. Image IPB

That's why she looked so... startled. Perhaps she was thinking of going down to the Life Support Plant after reading the data? Image IPB

LOL That's what I think anyway. Image IPB

Welcome D7!

What was Shep reading?  Probably something boring like a breakdown of Collector info they've picked up.

What do I want Shep to be reading?  Something far more exciting like the latest copy of Fornax the Drells of December issue (she reads it for the articles, I swear) or something Thane gave her in passing, maybe a favorite poem or book or Mordin's handy info.

First of all, welcome Disconnect 7, gald to have you among us. Second, I would hope that she would be reading something on a possible cure for Thane but my money is something regarding known information on the collectors. I always hope it's something Mordi sent up or the cure for Thane when I'm in a Tali romance. Double win, Tali's love and Thane's cure. Bigger woohoo for Thane's cure though.

That datapad could be anything depending on our Shepard. My shepard would be looking at teh Collector's info...being the soldier that she is XDDD. But she soon realizes that most of it would be chance when she changes it to some research for Thane's cure.

Then Thane comes in...

"Siha" isn't the same as "baby" or "darling".

"One of the warrior-angels of the goddess Arashu. Fierce in wrath. A tenacious protector."

It's very apt. If he did call his wife that I'd suspect it's more that he has a "type" those being exceptionally brave fierce individuals.

I'm the one that made the "baby"/"siha" connection in the first place, and I already apologized on the last page, but I'll do so again :)
"Siha" is a term of endearment, a sweet nickname that he gave Shepard. It isn't like it was part of Irikah's name or anything, and people who believe that Thane is using Shepard as a replacement for Irikah often mention the use of "siha" as why. Tried to make a comparison with our terms of endearment, and failed, obviously, so apologies again! Image IPB
And as for what was on  that datapad? The way Shepard says "Thane" when he walks into the room is surprised, yes, but also concerned, as he's already looking down and slightly upset. If she were looking at educational vids, I think she'd be a bit more shocked. But since she clearly was surprised at his entrance, she must have been engrossed in something...
Ah, too much thinking. It was the drell edition of Fornax. Thane was just too nice to mention it when he saw it on her desk.
