Futuristic Lover is the Thane video I've had on repeat lately. I'm not even a fan of Katy Perry but Thane makes that vid addictive.

Omg, I replayed the Thane loyalty mission last night because I never heard Thane's dialogue regarding Earth (when you offer Mouse creds in exchange for information) and... just to be a jerk I told Mouse I didn't have the money after the fact. And then Mouse says something along the lines of "I did it to help you Krios! I thought he was your son!"

...and then Thane got all teary-eyed and said "He is."

AHH. I wasn't expecting him to respond like that. I felt so bad afterwards, LoL. X_x;;

I almost always take the paragon option but I had to try  this just to hear what he says.

"You told me once you had a dream as a child. I remember it. Earth. The lights of a home you've never seen. Half-remembered fairytales from your mother. Cool green hills. No smell of oil and plastic on the blue winds"

Thane can make the most mundane things sound beautiful. I really love his description.

I just wish there was a hug option at some point during that mission. My Shep really wanted to hug him but the most she could do was ask him if he was all right.

Futuristic Lover has some kind of mind controlling power, I swear I've watched that video 100 times already. I'm not a Katy Perry fan either-weird!

I chose that dialogue choice just to hear Thane talk about Earth after someone mentioned it on the forum. Thane is so well-spoken and eloquent and just..poetic. I could listen to him talk forever!

I'd love to give Thane a hug, but at that point in the game I think he is kind of restraining from being emotionally vunerable. I love how much he opens up to you afterward.

Everytime Thane speaks, it's like I'm listening to a poem or a song of some sort.

Yes, he speaks with such feeling and passion. Its very sensual. I get lost in our conversations. I just wish there were more conversation options with Thane, but unfortunately chatting up Thane isn't exactly the games main objective (for most people, that is!)

It isn't?
That's why I bought the game.

I'm just trying not to invoke the hatred of people who think ME shouldn't revolve around characters and romance plots

I also wish we could have had more converstions with him. I would have loved to talk to him after the suicide mission. I hope we get to talk to him more in ME3.

Thanks Fiery!

I've been thinking... Has anyone wrote a letter back to Thane? Something that you could see your Shepard leaving for Thane to find?

I was playing around and I thought this up...

Thane,

For two years, I traveled across the sea then back and yet I wondered, lost and alone. Taking refusge among friends, I found my purpose. In you, I found my home.

My breath has no words that can express the words written upon my soul. You are my light in the darkness and my hope when I am lost. Know this, a heart that truly loves never forgets. I love you. If all else fails, my soul is bound to you and in you I find the strength to go on.

Walk with me. With your last breath, stay at my side and I will move heaven and earth for you.

Shepard

This would have been a wonderful response to Thanes letter.

I understand XD
I don't really play Mass Effect just for the characters and romance plots, they are just one part of what makes the game so enjoyable!
But I do draw comics for the characters and romance plots

I've lost track of how many times I've watched Futuristic Lover. There is definitely some kind of mind control at work. It gives me an excuse to stare at Thane so I can't complain too much though!

I concede Thane and Shepard probably weren't on hugging terms circa his loyalty mission, but I still wanted her to get all up in his personal space. He really looked like he needed a hug!

In addition to the cure for Kepral's, the desert trip, and shirtless Thane I also demand the option to hug Thane in ME3. :D

Absolutely, that was a major draw to his character for me. Even the descriptions of his memories are poetic. I wonder if all drell are that eloquent when reminiscing or if it's just a Thane thing.

I think it's just Thane. His son didn't sound that eloquent to me. Feron didn't either.

I'm currently converting the Futuristic Lover video to an mp4 so I can put it on my Zune..I need to feed my addiction!

I think it's definitely a personality trait of Thane's, being so well-spoken and all, Feron doesn't seem to possess that quality. Well not to me at least.

@Hanar: I believe the characters are one of the main reasons ME is so enjoyable. Especially Thane of course, his character just blew me away.

Lastnight as I was uploading to YouTube I found a vid for ME2 with the song Everything by LifeHouse. Thane's dialogue is wonderful.

The way Thane says, "I will watch over you" gives me chills and makes me want to cry.

Everything by LifeHouse

Wow! Amazing, it is a brilliant vid and with Thane it has an added... sophistication and awesomeness. It is one of the best ME vids. My personal favourite is the Launch trailer, though. I love the clips and music.

Same here, the femshep version of the launch trailer with Thane still gets me every time. Also I love Two Steps From Hell and Heart of Courage it's usually on an endless loop on my itouch.

As far as buying the game for the romance, not really. But after a couple of years of gaming detox two things attracted me to ME2, the fact that I could play as a female and Thane!!! I did buy ME1 at the same time so I could play it first and got totally immersed in the story.

Indeed, same here, love the song. It's one of the best in the world. I haven't seen the femshep launch trailer. It's now on my to do list. I bought ME2 mainly because I loved ME1 but also the second I saw Thane when he was accidentally released, I couldn't help it. I became intruiged by this spiritual assassin. I thought Bioware might make him an assassin without remorse which a paragon Shepard wouldn't get on with. Thank God I was wrong. I then became enraged when he wasn't available until the second half but loved the second half more because he was in it.

This is pretty much the reason I bought ME2. I loved playing the first one and was excited about the second. Finding out about Thane was just an added bonus.

Is it just me or does Thane seem to get along particularly well with Garrus? They're like Jacob and Miranda when you take them together with you. I really enjoy their comments; some of them are even complimentary of each other.

I've always imagined them to be friends. They seem to get along on missions, and I always take Thane with me to Garrus' loyalty mission, especially when I go the Paragon route. I imagine Thane has plenty to say about revenge, and I like to believe that they had a long chat in the mess hall when they got back, starting off about what happened with Sidonis and eventually moving on to other, perhaps more plesant topics. In my head, Garrus must have told Thane about my Shepard's past with Kaidan, since Thane is the only LI who could possibly be in the dark about Shepard's previous LI.

At least, I hope they're friends. Otherwise they must really hate me by now for bringing the two of them everywhere.

I have been trying to get them to compliment each other in my playthroughs but they seem to just compliment me. Maybe I should stop hogging the enemies >.<

The best time I had in any of my playthroughs was just sitting back and sending Garrus and Thane in before me. They compliment each other so well. Garrus would ususally use his assault rifle while Thane the sniper rifle.

Occassaionlly, I would have all three of us using our sniper rifles and let me tell you, their both good. The Strontium Mule is fun if all three have sniper rifles. When I play I look forward to that side mission to have Garrus and Thane with me. Or as I like to call them, my varsity team. Image IPB

My method, flank the enemies, use me as a decoy and let Thane and Garrus take out the enemies. Let the good times roll!
