I didn't say I'd level demands at him, nor do I think that would be fair, given the situation.

But my Shep does reserve the right to be angry.  As I said in NSAS, she'd go find Grunt and they'd most likely beat eachother up for a while.  YMMV.

My selfish comment was actually half a thought and it wasn't directed at Thane, so much as it was directed at the situation.  Thane's being Thane.  He's unselfish and noble, he's at peace with his death and he'll more than likely handle the situation as he handles almost every situation - with a clear gaze, a level-head and unflappable calm.  But that doesn't mean that Shep will just roll over and be a-ok with it.

As I said, I don't really know how my Shep would confront (since confrontation was the word used earlier) Thane or even how she's going to ultimately resolve the issue. I'd imagine, Thane being Thane and knowing Shep as well as I believe he does at this point would know something isn't quite right, no matter how many times she says, 'No need to worry about me!  How are YOU doing?!'

Kai, I didn't intend for your Shepard to make demands, although I have seen a few people post that they would want their Shepards to frog march Thane down to the med bay.

The discussion would have to be delicate, at least I think so.

I think that, as each Shepard is different, each Shepard's relation to Thane probably isn't the same. Our individual understandings of Thane probably best accurately fit our characters, so that what works for one might not work for another.

I would hope, however, that Thane's reluctance in his first conversation on board the Normandy will have changed by the end of ME2. Given what is revealed both by him being afraid to die before the Relay, and what is in his letter, I think he might be more open to saving himself.

And that he might understand if his Siha came to Life Support and punched his table after reading the medical report.

I agree, at this point, it is difficult to determine what is really in Thane's mind. The report could have been written when Thane first came aboard the Normandy and by his own admission he was ready to die - either during his recruiting mission or during the attempt to go through the Omega 4 Relay. And then it all changed...

As far as reading the Dossiers, my Shepard is not remiss to know more about her crew, by whatever means necessary.

My personal belief is that Chakwas did a check-up and suggested lung transplant surgery when he first came on the Normandy, and he declined because he had signed up with Shepard to stop the Collectors, not get new free lungs. I think surgery would take him out of the running.

I don't think that his decision to reject the surgery would change even if it came later. I doubt Thane would even want to suggest the option.

I would imagine the medical report was written around the time when Thane first came aboard, too. I mean he did tell Shepard of his condition, so she could have had him checked on before letting him settle in Life Support.

And my Shepard has no problem reading stuff on her crew. She does find herself in a tough situation after having read Thane's letter, though.

Does she tell him she read the letter? My shepard probably would. I'm not sure how he would react to finding out you have read his letter. I still would like to talk to him about it.

My Shepard would not mention the letter >.>

Infact, that she does feel bad about reading. But she was wondering why the shadow broker would have saved something from Thane's personal journal. As with almost everything else she read, it was not what she was expecting.

ffffffff.

I don't suppose Thane would be happy if he knew Shepard read the letter.

So I have been thinking and I realize that a good class to play that romances Thane is a Vanguard.

Nothing quite catches a warrior angel like someone moving in at Mach 1 with a shotgun.

Also I really do like how Thane has friendship dialouge, he proves that people can be just friends still in ME2, which I really liked.

I guess the shadow broker would want to know everything about the person he is keeping a file on. Even the personal things that wouldn't be important to him, but might be important to someone else. Someone  may want to know Thanes strengths and his weaknesses. They could see the letter as a weakness. They can hurt him by going after or using Shepard to do so.

Or maybe the shadow broker just likes to read love letters.

Indeed, and that's why I try to avoid love. It can easily be used against you. That, and I've never quite grasped the concept, it seems slightly odd that you'd do anything for someone, I mean, how can you tell they aren't just using you? How can you trust them so much? Anyway, my little rant over, I think that the letter would be a powerful weapon in the wrong hands as it creates another Irikah scenario and Thane doesn't deserve that again. That's why he should have wrote it down. The Shadow Broker could have easily sold that dossier to someone as there would probably be someone looking to get revenge on Thane.

If the batarians went after Irikah because they were too afraid to go after Thane directly, I would be really entertained to find out who would try to take out Commander Shepard.

Yup, whoever wants to approach Shepard in revenge for some evil Thane has done is more than welcome to try. It's practically a fail-fail situation.

Anyone who tries to take out Shepard clearly has a death wish. Most of the people that have tried ended up dead themselves. Irikah was an easier target. Shepard would not be so easy to kill.

Indeed. Very funny line there. They don't tend to last long, five minutes if they're lucky.

You see I thought about Abe when I saw Thane for the first time. Yeah, the ME movie will probably turn out one of two ways. A, rubbish or B, absolutely fantastic!

Video games that get turned into movies usually don't turn out very well. I hope the Mass Effect movie turns out to be good.

The first time I saw Thane I didn't associated him with anything, but one day while talking to a friend we ended with the idea of Thane being the pretty version of "V" tv series aliens......it was amusing until the disturbing image of Thane having lunch appeared in my mind.... XDD

I hope the movie turns out well enough :D

Anyone who goes after Shepard is literally suicidal. Thane doesn't have to worry about another Irikah scenario.

Hain, I didn't mean to sound snarky yesterday, I'm sorry.  <3

I don't think my Shep would say anything about Thane's letter.  It'd be one of those things that she'd probably lock up in a little box of keepsakes, the few she has and it'd mean more to her than her entire model ship collection or that Prothean paperweight (think helmet from Alchera, that much).

The medical record, to me, is a whole 'nother can of worms entirely.  There's doctor / patient confidentiality to think about along with everything else the medical report stirred up.

I'm really curious as to how it's all going to play out, if it plays out at all, not just with Thane's possible death, but if BW will tackle such a deep and serious choice and do it justice, and ultimately, how it will end.

I'm sure there's a bit of a waiting list for drell lungs--considering there are so few, which mean even fewer die young enough and healthy enough to give up their lungs. And I don't know about drell blood types or anything, but there might be something going into play about tissue compatibility.

Still, I'd play the "saved the galaxy twice card". Shepard never asks for anything, and if all she asks for are drell lungs, dammit, she'll keep them in a jar if she wants!

Abe Sapien was one of his inspirations--you can see they took it pretty far since then, and he's definitely more reptilian than fish, but that's where they sort of took it. Here's the article about his concept.

I'm curious what people think about drell being the female fanservice answer to asari. Personally, I don't find them attractive, I find them interesting to look at. But, still, an improvement over a decidely more alien species like the turians, on whom I rely on Garrus' personality and voice entirely and thank god I never saw him naked.

Was the entire race suppose to be fanservice or just Thane?

It doesn't really bother me if they are. I absolutly love Thanes character. He is the one and only video game character that I can say that about. I think they did a really good job in creating him.

I guess I must be weird becasue I actually do think Thane is attractive. I also think Feron is cute. I do not think Kolyat is attractive at all. I do agree about the turians. While I do like Garrus I have never really found them to be that attractive.
