I like that he calls Shepard "siha" because it's so personal and specific. It's like a code for "this is what you mean to me" that can only be used between Thane and Shepard.
The voice certainly helps, though. Mr. Farley could read me the phonebook and I'd probably still swoon.

Yes I do miss being able to dance with your LI. I would love to go dancing with Thane. Unfortunately Shepard is a terrible dancer in ME2.

Yes! This needs to be brought back into ME3. I would personally love to see a slow-dancing Thane and Shepard, Thane would be so great at it I bet. Just watching him slip his hand around her waist and them having their own little romantic moment  because it is needed.

This I would love to see. I don't think they have ever had Shepard slow dancing before.Image IPB

I could see him listening to music in his quarters...

Thane: This a piece from my home world, do you like it siha?

Shepard: It's beautiful.

Thane: Drell consider listening to music like this as enriching for the soul, it reaches it on a spiritual level and invokes so many good memories, I think of the kahje oceans at night whenever I listen to it.

Shepard: It’s a lot better than the kind of music I hear on the citadel.

Thane: I should hope so; repetitive Flux music isn’t exactly the most...inspiring thing to listen to.

Shepard: True, but I suppose it’s easier to dance to.

(Thane got up and walked toward Shepard, he smiled and took her hands into his own)

Thane: we shall see.

(Shepard suddenly found herself moving gently to the music, following Thane’s steps as he held her close against him. Thane, it turned out, was as graceful as a dancer as he was an assassin)

Thane: You are natural, my siha, I feel as if we’re dancing on the waters of Kahje itself.

(Shepard hoped she would always remember this moment with perfect clarity, it was just that, perfect)

Ohmygosh yes! Not only is that so beautiful, and sweet, and romantic, I feel like that is totally in character for Thane. Also, I think Shepard and Thane would be in perfect harmony, I can imagine Shepard taking Thane's lead in a slow dance.

On my venture through the Garrus thread (I'm up to pg 65 :bandit:), I stumbled across a collection of Thane's combat sound files. I found some which I've never heard before, although when I think about it, Thane never does talk much in battle in my game.
Amongst the recordings was the "That's me, Shepard." line when you accidentally shoot him.
However, they also had the same line, but the second recording sounds much more harsh. More like:
"That's me, Shepard!"

I lol'd.

Makes me think about how we've never really seen Thane too angry, and it also brings up a point my sister and I were discussing about Drell. If we are too assume that they're mostly based on reptilian/amphibian qualities, do you think a Drell's throat would inflate when they were angered/defensive, much the same way frogs and lizards do? The thought of it leads me to think it could be either really intimidating, or slightly humorous...

I would never wish to see Thane angry, he suits calm and collected too much, it's who he is. Throat inflation? I'm going to say no, I think even though they are based on the reptile/amphibian design, I think they would probably have a humanoid throat. However, it is possible. It might explain the red ridges. I think it would probably look more humorous than intimidating though.

In the codex it says they can inflate their throats, ala their hyoid bone.  That, coupled with the hardness of the bone, makes it's incredibly difficult to strangle a drell.  Or some such.

However, they did not say anything like "and then they inflate their throat for mating" or some such. So. Meh. I, too, assumed the neck skin was ribbed for a purpose, but... that's not something I know if I want to see.

Thane sneezes and it all just goes to hell. The look on Shepard's face would be priceless.

I couldn't imagine Thane with an inflated throat. I think it'd look either creepy or just wrong. I can't tell which. And Cindal, what happened to the lovely cat pic?

It's around~  I forgot to switch back to it.  I meant to do this.  I should do this now.

And I misquoted the codex.  /win  I got it and what I read about hyoid bones mashed together.

Should be fixed now.

There we are! There's the Cindal we all know and love. So, they do still inflate their throats. I agree, it'd probably very difficult to strangle a drell. I wonder, if Thane were to be given a contract to kill another drell, would he do it. And if he chose to, then how would he kill them? A neck snap might be difficult to pull off if they inflate their throat.

I do believe there is an article in the game about how it is difficult to strangulate a drell. I would have to go search but I do think its also mentioned on Mass Effect Wiki.

If Thane can snap a krogan's neck, I'm pretty sure he can snap a drell neck. Besides that, the Codex doesn't say that you can't break their necks--just that they're difficult to strangle.

If it's got a neck, Thane can snap it.

Hanar might pose a problem ... where is a Hanar's neck?  Hmm ... and Volus, do Volus have necks?  Or Elcor?

I'm still clinging tightly to my desperate hope that we'll see more Thane neck-snapping action in ME3.  Like, more close quarters vent-dropping, pistol wielding acrobatics.  Sniper Thane is glorious, but I want to see in-your-face, falcon-throat-punch Thane with karate-chop action.

It would be magnificent.

I don't think Thane would use strangulation on them. That doesn't seem to be his style. If a neck snap is to difficult than he can always shoot them.

Oh, no strangulation. You're quite right, it's too slow for Thane's style. Indeed, yes, shooting, he did that to Nassana. I loved the air vent drop and before she knows it... boom. Point blank. I agree, in ME3, we need to see Thane actually use a pistol but more up close and personal (after all, he used a pistol in ME2) and also more neck snap. It's his signature move. Hanar, gun shot. Volus... I think he'd be able to pull off a neck snap. If not, shot. Elcor, deffinetly gun shot.

I would love to see more of what he did in Nassanas office in ME3.The air vent drop was great, and I love his surveillance video in LotSB.

Sorry, am on call w/limited time (and access) to PCs. Ok - Saibh, a *facepalm* can be done two ways #1=vertical, where you cover your nose (fingers to forehead) and Kolyat does it as Joram and his Krogan bguard walk by him. I think at least 2 other NPCs do it in the game, and there was a thread where folks posted various pics of this facepalm, and discussed use in ME2 & ME3 (wasn't as funny as the "Horatio and sunglasses" thread, which is AWESOME, but the facepalm has it's role!!)

#2= the horizontal facepalm where you cover your mouth and chin (fingers on cheek and jaw) like covering your mouth when you cough or for, like, OMG...... The challenge is determining the meaning behind the *facepalm* in the context of it's use. So, hope that clarifies what I meant on page 235.

AND - here's my MedSpeak regarding Kepral's and fluid (shower) posts - it's a bacteria that apparently lives in, and attacks, Drell lung tissue. And Codex say Drell get it from Hanar home world where humidity is high ( >90%) most of the time. As the Drell living there are constantly breathing this wet, moisture soaked air, they "contract" this bacterial infection. (It's either dormant in Drell physiology, and activated by the moisture, or something in the moisture and air of Hanar world toxic to Drell). So, as long as Thane doesn't breath in mositurized (wet) air, it shouldn't acclerate his condition (no cure, so the bacteria are still eating away at his lung tissue no matter what air he breathes. With exposure to wet air, the bacteria "get busy" -I mean multiplying AND eating faster) If Thane breathes in dry air, the hope is that he can maintain current "bacteria counts" and not make things worse. This means, his skin exposed to water is NOT the issue, it's what he breathes. (except chest skin, which, if it holds moisture like perspiration, it will keep that area moist and some may get through - this of course is a theory, because if inner lung tissue was effected by what's on the skin, think about tattoos and what all that ink that would do do the lungs using this theory, but that's a whole 'nother discussion). So, as long as Thane wears his mask, doesn't spend "days" in the rain, and drys off on Normandy, he should be fine on "wet misisons". I would NOT however, take him with me to 2175 Aeia (Jacob's loyalty mission) as that's a humid air planet, and no one wears masks. That would be serious badness for Thane and worsen his disease.......

I suspect they have a "dry" chemical or other type of shower in 2145, similar to the "decon" scans in ME1 (remember those?) everytime you reboarded the Normandy. traditional wet showers, with a rebreather mask, would be the only other option. Okay, gotta finish call, report off, and get back to ME2 gameplay #15. Will check back later, apologize for long post....hp

I can't tell if you're joking or not? I do know what a facepalm is, I was just wondering at what exactly.

Some trivia:

- After speaking with Mouse during Thane's loyalty mission, Thane can tell Shepard of the importance of "carrying the weight of our decisions", going as far as telling her that she of all people should know that.

Do you think this could be a not-too-subtle reference to the fact that the ME trilogy is first and foremost about the player's (that is, Shepard's) decisions and the consequences they entail?

Personally, I do think it is.

I just wish Bioware would determine if Keprals is a bacterial infection, some kind of cancer or something else entirely. It makes no sense from a physiological perspective but of course I took human physiology not xenophysiology so... or would that be drell physiology? Image IPB

My whole point is, what is Keprals Syndrome, really? They make it sound like its an infection but not... so, some of us are confused. Mostly me. Image IPB

Now, anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but let me have an attempt to explain it. Kepral's syndrome, I would say, is that it is a unique type of bacteria. Now, most bacteria are contagious. However, Kepral's is not. Therefore, I have two theories. First, it is a viral-bacterial hybrid. Therefore, it would infect all the cells in the lung but is still a bacteria and yet is not infectious, so it doesn't spread. Second, is that, like Hedgepath said, it could be already present and is triggered by the moisture. However, I'm terrible at biology so don't have a clue but from what I do know I have come to these theories.

I hearby present you with a degree in xenobiology. Now, would you like the nobel prize? lol. You deserve it. I think it could be classified. If you give us the class of disease it is you get the nobel prize and a cookieImage IPB. I believe I have the answer, or at least something it could be classed as.Image IPB
