If Shepard can't or is not the person to convince Thane into accepting the lung transplant, Kolyat is always there. There must have been a reason we couldn't and didn't have the option to kill Kolyat, as opposed to Morinth, Ronald Taylor, Miranda's friend, Sidonis, etc etc etc.

Well, the point was to save Kolyat. In the case of killing Morinth, Taylor, Niket, or Sidonis, it's what they either wanted to do, or they left it up to your judgement. A Renegade Shepard is at least trying to get their loyalty.

I was only trying to make a point, really. I realize what you're saying.

Basically, Kolyat must have something to do with this whole thing. Probably more so than Shepard herself.

@GeneralAshous ooooohhh Thanenstein?

What about a Kafka-esque metamorphosis? Thane goes to sleep only to awaken as a Krogan! Hey, secondary organs, so just remove the offending pieces and voilà, cured Thane. Of course, Thane is now cured but also a Krogan. Are humans squishy?

Hmmmm. I know, vampire Thane. The team has a run in with Count Dracula, Thane is bitten, as well as Shepard if players want to be a vampire, and he then dies. Then, he wakes up as a vampire. Count Thanula.

@GeneralAshous LOL I love that one!

Thane and Shepard are on a planet where there are reports of animal mauling during full moons. Thane and Shepard investigate, only Thane gets bitten! During the next full moon, Thane turns into a varren. Oh no! Thanes a were-varren!

What about a sort of zombie Thane? He contracts some strange disease and then the day he dies, he wakes up again and he must sleep in refridgerators for the rest of his days to stop himself from decaying.

I prefer wizard Thane, he discovers a latent magical ability. So now, he can heal himself and take out the Reapers in one big swoop!

What about cyborg Thane. He has all his inards removed and then only a few of his vital organs are placed in a robotic body. He then no longer needs to breathe and so can go anywhere, as long as it isn't underwater.

Confronting Thane/Thane Confronting Shepard:

Yeah, Shep can pretty much convince the stars to fall from the sky.  That seems to be, more or less, how the game is set up.  The story builds to that one point where Shep saves the day (or fails miserably).

Thane confronting Shepard would be interesting.  But because the game is Shep-driven, I don't how they'd manage that or if they'd even try.  Aside from the loyalty mission prompts, and pre-suicide mission lovin's, the characters don't tend to confront Shepard (even the loyalty conflicts require Shep to confront the issue and diffuse the situation), certainly with no serious attempts to persuade Shepard to their cause.  At these points, everything is very black and white - you either side with them or convince them.

If Thane's illness is addressed in the game, I'm pretty sure why Thane refused to be added to the list will be brought up (or I'm sure it SHOULD be brought up).  And the reasons for his continued refusal or change of heart brought forth.

But more likely than not, it'll be set up in such a way that Thane will be against it and it will be up to Shepard to resolve the situation one way or another.

However, if it meant possibly helping more drell than just Thane, would we accept his wishes?

Mutated Thane! Thane and Shepard are involved in an industrial accident where Thane is exposed to a toxic material X, he then develops super drell powers. Now he's SuperThane!

What about Thane going into a cave and growing a cocoon around him?

After a few days there a new Thane emerges from the cocoon, completely cured! 7 years older and with new superpowers!! now he can neck-snap you with just one stare!!

No not at all, please join in. Hainkpe, I was going to venture that one after yours. Hmmmmmm....... Got it. Thane builds the TARDIS, travels back in time and smuggles his parents off world so he isn't born in humid environments. Then, he never gets Kepral's.

Abnocte welcome to the highly improbable Thane cure game! Good one.

Thane is bitten by an insect and now he has powers but can also regenerate any lost limb or body part. Cured.

Thane has a pendant made with a stone from his planet. We discover that  the stone is actually weakening him and making him vulnerable to diseases.

We get rid of it a he recovers completely.

Now he can fly, and peek through Shepard clothes...

Thane and Shepard travel to a planet with some very old ruins. Thane is exploring and he falls into a large hole filled with iridescent liquid. He absorbds the liquid and becomes a God. Now he can't die because he's immortal.

Thane falls in battle protecting Shepard.
When the Devil comes for his soul he notices he can't take it. Thane soul has been given Heaven for his sacrifice.
The Devil gets pissed off, resurrects Thane after curing his lung disease. Giving him more time to sin again....

Thane finds a very old oil lamp, as he is cleaning the lamp, a geni pops out. Thane wistfully remarks he would like to remain at Shepards side in the coming darkness. Poof, he's cured.

There is a special property in the drell rainbow gene that proves resistant to Kepral's. Instead of killing Feron and stealing his lungs, Mordin uses him for some sorta genetosynthesis thing that is processed into a convenient inhaler or chocolate milk drink, augmenting the subject's genes more with each use.

That doesn't seem so magical, though.

I'm doing this wrong.

Let me try again.

Okay okay. Human/Drell contact causes mild allergic reactions in human skin. Drell react similarly, with some kinda scale infection, their bodies producing natural antibiotics to counter it. These antibiotics eat Keprals.

Choose life. Rub up on a human.

Genies are tricky.  This could go very badly.  Like, he'll still die of Kepral's, but remain at Shep's side.

As a living corpse.

Thane gets cured but can't talk no more!!!!

T____________T

Edit: @Cin. I was thinking the same thing. That wish was too vague XDD

I could see that argument used to bring Thane around to Shep's way of thinking.

Think of the drell, Thane.  Think of the drell.

As for Thane confronting Shep, I think it'd be an interesting twist full of drama / tension building material, but I don't see it happening.  Some people against curing Thane or seeing him live say they want it to be that way because Shepard shouldn't be able to control the outcome of everything.  Which I sort of agree with, but at the same time I'm Shepard and this is my story.  If I want my lizard lover to live then by Amonkira's fuzzy mustache he should have the chance to live!  If the person over there doesn't want Thane to live, then toss the magical tube of mystery cure out the airlock.

I have a great one. Thane meets Dante (DMC Dante, not this new abomination Capcom has decided to make) and Dante's sick and tired of not being able to die. So, they exchange blood and now Thane can not die but Dante does. Noooooooooooooooooo! I would greatly miss Dante. We'd still have Thane but no more Dante would break my heart too.
