I... am not... sweet. Your magic blessing has not changed me yet, my dear. My mind is still set on the metal body. I seriously doubt it's this. I have a new one. Thane discovers the heart of Will Turner and shoots it, making him the captain of the Flying Dutchman, sorted. I wouldn't mind that job myself, I'd love the Davy Jones look. I think I'd suit it, almost as much as I'd suit the metal body.

(Grievous) Never! I will feel no such thing. It is a complete waste of time, time that I could easily dedicate to something more useful and productive. Define sour. I'm not quite getting what you mean to tell me. Thane was lucky with Shepard, I will admit. His gamble paid off. I love gambling, I'm great with dice. I never get snake eyes. Anyhow, love is too big a gamble for me.

You do realize there is a contradiction in your response? Loving gambling but not willing to take a gamble? Wut?
And you dare to say Thane was lucky in finding Irikah? I don't think luck had anything to do with it. Thane found an extraordinary woman and was willing to take a gamble to gain her forgiveness. Which then lead to love.
There are many extraordinary women out there, it's recognizing what makes them extraordinary and being open to gamble on finding out. But the again, I have to admit I'm biased.

A good gambler knows when a gamble is too big and when the odds are against him. Then, he looks for a gamble that's more favourable. Contradiction solved. No, no, I was saying he was lucky Shepard felt the same way, not Irikah. His run in with Irikah was fate, I believe. They were destined to be together, just not for their full lives unfortunately. Gambling ending, that's a risky gamble, too risky a gamble for me. The odds are against me there, very much so.
You could also say that he was lucky that Irikah felt the same way. She probably didn't want anything to do with him at first. I really don't think that relationship was meant to last.

Not with the way Thane was to her, no. He just couldn't stop being an assassin, unfortunately. I got the impression (but my memory is bad) he lied to her about what he did and where he went. After all, the woman nearly sacrificed her life to stop a murder. Thane sort of keeps doing it anyway, and I can't imagine she'd be okay with it. They're relationship was sort of unhealthy. He lied to her all the time, about something pretty majorly fundamental that would hold their relationship together (like "I don't like my spouse killing people").
All it would've taken is her finding out early, or her getting frustrated with always leaving, and it would have ended. Thane built up their relationship on a pack of lies. Poor Irikah.

@Hainkpe, thank you. (Grievous) You will never break through this tough exterior of mine. Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha cough cough cough cough. Ugh.
Indeed, I was unsure about the relationship with Irikah and I was curious about how it lasted. It seemed like an odd choice for her to make, to marry an assassin. OK, it's Thane and we all love Thane. However, you never know if an assassin will come back alive. As for the lying, I don't think he did lie to her. I believe he said that she said he was 'away on business' to cover for him. The only oother reason I believe she knew he was an assassin is that he aimed a gun at her. I'm sure you'd remember that in your spouse. Still, I may be wrong and you may be valid but I'm sure that she knew he was an assassin all along. I'm not one hundred percent sure but I'm about seventy percent. This is a big gamble (winks at Hainkpe) that I will be wrong but I'm taking my chances.

I pretty sure she knew what he did she just hated it. I'm sure she wanted him to stop, but he didn't know how to do anything else. I just think the relationship was never going to last. She was alone all the time. She was raising their son alone. It had to be hard. She was always lying to people saying he was away on business. They just didn't seem to be a good match.

Oh, it's not that she didn't know who he was, it's that I think he must have lied about what he continued to do. I honestly can't remember/find the conversation of this in particular, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But she was willing to die to save some random stranger on the street. For all she knew, the target totally deserved it. Why would she be okay with him continuing to murder people?
Alright, found the dialogue. "I just...did my job. I hunted and killed across the galaxy. "Away on business", my wife used to tell people. I was always away on business."
Hm. That could go either way towards whether or not she knew. But it doesn't seem like she would--I mean why, if she was willing to die to save some random stranger, would she be okay with Thane continuously murdering people? But the conversation I watched also didn't pursue the Investigate options, so...
Personally, I always wonder about why he says he "begged her pardon". He says it himself: he doesn't believe he's guilty of murdering people under the hanar's direction. After he marries Irikah, he continues to do it anyway (I don't know if he did it before, as well). It seems clear it's exactly as he says--he didn't really want forgiveness, he wanted her forgiveness. In any case, it doesn't seem like they had a really honest relationship.

Do you have any proof that he didn't? My reasoning is based on how vehemently she was opposed to killing and assassination--remember, she nearly martyred herself to protect some random stranger?--and how he does it anyway. He wanted her to forgive him, but it took awhile. How did that conversation go? "Listen, I'd rather not sit in an office all day, my love, so can I go back to killing people for hire?" I figured she knew he was an assassin--but did she know he kept assassinating?
I don't really know. But it's conjecture. Discussion. I suppose we could all talk about the things we already know for a fact. I suppose we'd also run out of conversation material pretty quickly.
