Thane sits with an empty cup because he can. That is the mystery of him.
So it's a Zen thing? "What is the sound of an empty cup pouring?"

Jacob and Kasumi? Match made in Heaven? I wouldn't say it'd last too long. Year or two at most. Jacob doesn't seem like the kind of guy who sticks around for too long. I wonder if there was anything between him and Miranda? Thane's mug! Empty! Same sentence! I doubt that very much. If it were empty my world would be shaken up. Which reminds me of the time...
As far as I recall, pretty early on you get the opportunity to ask him if he and Miranda were ever together, and he says something like it got really close and then it got really really far away.
After his loyalty mission, which promise Miranda was referring to is brought up, but he doesn't know. But for all we know, if things got bad, she could have promised to destroy his soul or something. It's pretty ambiguous. On the other hand, it could also be a good friend thing. I assume he opened up to her about his dad... maybe... hence her interference. I haven't done Jacob's romance, I've only seen youtubes of it, but I think he gets squidgy if Shepard asks about it.
He'll also say she requires a better man than him.
All of this leads me to think they were very close and maybe tried a relationship and it didn't work out, or the idea of being something serious came up and one of them beat a hasty retreat.
Go go speculation and ambiguity!
BUT! This is neither here nor there, because it is not Thane.
Here. Some Thane.

@Killjoy you never know with Thane. It could be an existential commentary on the naure of life.
@Cin redirection win!
Of course, I have to add my observation and thought process on Jacobs comment about Miranda needing a better man than he. When i first heard that I remember that made me laugh because to me that was a slight against Shepard. Miranda needs a better man than Jacob but Jacob is just find for Shepard? Really? REALLY? Huh. LOL

The cup probably isn't empty. It's filled with his favorite drink. Don't know what that is though. Shepard will just have to find out.

I never took it as anything against Shepard. Maybe Miranda just requires to much. More than he is able to give.

It's probably tea. I know it. But I don't want to think that. I need something more exciting, something ridiculous.

It could be tea with a little something extra in the tea.

@Hai, no. But I was wearing that suit but it was on a different occassion. I don't quite recall what exactly happened. All I remember is an empty cup of water and my mate was locked in his bathroom. I had to find a key which I believe was eventually located under his couch. However, the room was wobbly as I was dizzy. Therefore, my world was shaken. LOL.
Yes, I thought I'd heard something about them being an item somewhere, that was where. I couldn't actually imagine that. I digress. Thane. I'm sure it's either tea or cappucino.

Why a cappuccino, why not a latte? I believe it's a vanilla skim milk latte with extra syrup. Yummo!

I couldn't see Thane getting hyper from a caffeine fix from a cappuccino or latte. That is my domain... Therefore, I shall put my vote in with herbal tea, mixed in with water from the Hanar homeworld where the goddess Arashu was rumoured to have been born.
Hey, why not?
I love this. You have my vote!

I don't think he would be much of a coffee drinker either, but the caffeine may not bother him since he isn't human. He seems more like he would drink tea though. Then again the cup could be filled with hot chocolate, or just water.

Coffee doesn't seem like his style. I'm sticking with the tea idea. I quite like that suggestion thoug. But wouldn't it be against the rules to drink holy water?

Hey, that was a beautiful letter. Thane's the only ME romance I know of to actually come out and say "I love you." Even if it was meant to be said post-death. Ah well.
It has been confirmed that if you fully romance Thane and then he dies during the suicide mission, you will still see the letter in his dossier afterward.
Just imagine that..

Best romance ever. Why? Because Thane is imperfect. Perfectly imperfect. I wouldn't be too crushed if he died in ME3, either naturally or by bullet holes, but I wouldn't mind it if he was randomly cured either.
I'd totally go Snow White on his ass. Only... he'd be Snow White. In space.

I agree.
I really love the letter, and I believe Thane is the only one to have something like that in his dossier. I still don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Thane is in fact the only one with romance-specific content in his dossiers. And that's exactly how I feel about it myself. It's really a double-edged sword.JECWSU wrote...
