And I'm glad you like Thane. Feron and Kolyat seem to have stolen the show in the comments on my deviantART XD

I preferred Alistair, but I did find Zevran quite sexy. Of course, he is very different from Thane in many regards, but the comments just reminded me of the same attitude they had towards assassinations.FieryPhoenix7 wrote...
Zevran is simply the lamest person in Thedas. I tried to like him, but couldn't.

All the comments above have made me think (which is quite an impressive feat, so congratulations) in what ways are Thane and Zevran from DA similar? With Zev, I ended up blaming his employers for his assassination. He feels little guilt for his contracts, and says himself that his employers are to blame for their deaths. Like Thane, I don't see Zevran as 'evil' and that he actively wants to take over the world *evil laugh* or anything. He is way too witty and mischevious to be your typical grim, evil assassin.

Zevran is way more guiltless than Thane, imo. Thane admits he feel remorse, sometimes, but Zev finds no reason to. He asks Wynne what's the point of feeling guilt -- he'd just go insane.
As a second thought, a major difference is that Zevran would totally hit on Thane, I think. And Shepard. And Kenneth and... hell, why not Grunt, too?

Thane only likes femshep. Thane feels no guilt for his contracts too, it's the only way they don't go insane. Knives and swords aren't really used in Mass Effect so I am certain that Zevran would have the advantage there! Thane is certainly my favoured character though!
I will pose another question however: a snipe-off. Who will win? Garrus or Thane?

I want to say Garrus only because Thane prefers personal, up-close kills anyway. Sniping seems like an "alternative" to him. As I recall however, Garrus used assault rifles and other heavy weapons in ME1, which leads me to believe he's only been using the sniper rifle the past two years. Thane's had extensive training since he was six.

Oh this is a hard one. Since I always took Garrus and Thane with me where ever I went. But I have to say, Thane. He pulled off shots that left me stunned. Garrus, now he's good for fighting, but Thane pulled me out of a few situations that I managed to get myself into.
Garrus is the BFF, Thane is the smexy God in tight leathers... did I just write that? LOL I guess I did.

Because of his tactical genius I woud say Garrus. Sniping is a very tactical form of combat, you need the right position, vantage point, height, placement of shot etc. Thane does prefer close combat, leather clad close combat. *Ahem*
Despite my comments on this thread, I am more in love with Garrus than Thane. But Thane does rock my world, just more in a 'dammit man, you are ridiculously cool' kinda way. Sorry.

If I were to go by game mechanics, I'd say Thane due to his Drell Marksman weapon bonus, which is double Garrus' Turian Renegade weapon bonus.
Now, someone mentioned "close combat" as being Thane's preference; however, don't forget that Garrus mentions that he and that scout he blew off some steam with were the top ranked hand-to-hand specialists on the ship, so he hasn't necessarily been a trained sniper his entire military career. As well, when Thane mentions Irikah, he's clearly sniping someone... so it's not like sniping is an in-game-only talent of his.
Clearly, Garrus and Thane need to hold a tie breaker in Thane's quarters.

Garrus in leathers??? Hmm... *fantasizes for a long time* ah yes, I am typing a post... I romanced them both (separate playthroughs of course) and preferred Thane's romance scene. But I just like Garrus a tincy bit more dammit! He must have calibrated me good...Hainkpe wrote...

*High-Five* YES! I knew I liked you for a reason.See, if it really came down to a choice between Garrus and Thane, a true and real choice. I don't think I could do it. I think their both God Like smexy men. Garrus is tall and awkward which is just plain adorable and Thane, well, just smexy as what every you will. Garrus is the best friend, Thane is the hot guy. I couldn't possibly choose. Although for the board, I favor Thane more. Its the leathers. Definatley.

Garrus in leather... hmm... never thought of that before. He does have a nice voice but I love Thane's voice. Its deep and rich like chocolate with a soft vibration I can feel travel up my spine. I like Thane a tincy bit more than Garrus. Garrus didn't calibrate me enough... LMAO....

*Ahem* i had best keep such thoughts to myself
My ME1 playthroughs were both Kaidan romances. He's an alright character, I'm just quite an... 'adventurous woman.' I have romanced Thane twice and Garrus twice in ME2. It is really sweet when you tell Liara that you're with Garrus on LotSB. A touching conversation that one. I see we have similar tastes Hainkpe. We may have to duel for the love of our favourite characters...

I didn't see anything in Kaidan. I mainly did it for the experience. The Liara conversation about Garrus, I remember that. Give Garrus peace and find some happiness, in the arms of a turian.
For me though, LotSB for Thane was more, emotional. The letter, the whole statement about a few months with Thane. That just got me. Still does. I love the letter and the look in Thane's eyes after he kisses Shepard. Wow.
We indeed have similiar tastes Tasha. I will pit my love for Thane against your love for Garrus anyday!
My favorite moments with Thane and Garus...

I was with Liara in ME1. There was something compelling about her, lol. I might try a new play-through in ME2 where my Shep stays in love with her, but it'll be hard to do with Thane hanging around the Normandy.
Oh, and Garrus is definitely BFF. Garrus and Shep are the ideal vision of teamwork that can be accomplished between humans and turians, I think.

LOL Tash, I won before you even began. Me and my lovely animated gifs.
Thane and Garrus, they are so much fun aren't they? Such a duo.
I will always remember in LotSB, in the gun fight to get to Liara, I had Thane using the sniper rifle, Garrus the assault and I was picking people off with my sniper rifle as well. Thane did this marvelous head shot, Garrus yelled, "Nice shooting!" Thane nonchalantly reloads then says, "Thank you." I did not have my fraps going but I wish I did. I will never forget that moment. It was the best!
No more cookies for you! LOL Feel free to friend me on xbox - ColdChronicles

I saw nothing in Kaidan in ME. He wasn't my type -- I don't like men who can't tell me what they want. I guess that's why I love Thane so much. He says straight to your face that he cares about you, and in his letter he says very bluntly that he loves you. Thank you for not confusing the crap out of me, Thane.

I remember reading The Letter from Thane and I cried. I cried so hard I was sobbing but I was laughing too. I kept saying, "He loves her! HE LOVES HER!" My husband still laughs at that one.
I have a male canon shepard, where he romanced Liara in the first then stayed loyal for LotSB, its really sweet. Blue babies... awww....
I admit it, I used Kaidan. I use him in my fanvids and a love triangle for Shepard and Thane. I am very happy with how those that I used Kaidan as the former worked out. Its just fun. I am sure there are those out there where Shepard goes back to Kaidan. But not in my world.

But I don't think my Shep could love anyone after Thane, even after he's long gone.
For me, how I would see it, my Shepard may go on to love someone after Thane but she would love no one like she loved Thane. Perhaps its where I am in my life processes but, how I see Shepard's life after, God forbid, Thane's death. She would be hurt but not broken. I see my Shepard as a woman who would go and love again.
But she is a spacer, war hero type.
