This has probably been discussed, but I never get tired, so let's go at it again. What's up with him refusing to be added to organ transplant line? Reunited with his son, loving again. Why, Thane, why? You're wounding me!

I wondered at that, too. The only conclusions I could draw were--

1. He refused to be added to the organ transplant line before he met Shep and maybe can't be added now.

2. He doesn't think he deserves it, still. Or maybe he's too prideful -- I dunno? My Shep would totally give him a lung if she could. Because... *que cheesy romance line* she's already given him her HEART!

*facepalm*

I see it as #1. When he refused, he didn't have the relationship with Kolyat and/or Shepard he has at the end of the game. I'm sticking to my theory that a loyal Thane will get a transplant/other treatment in ME3 for Kolyat's sake. A disloyal Thane will refuse. Shepard could have a chance to charm/intimidate to sway his decision, but I'd actually like it better if there was no way to change it. Shep can't control everything after all.

Yeah, I think Kolyat would have more impact on that decision than Shepard. With Shep, life is too dangerous to worry about how much time you have left and what you should do about it. Getting a transplant that might never come likely pales in light of the mission. But if say, Kolyat wanted to pursue and repair a relationship with his father, Thane might consider putting himself on that list for his child's sake.

I... feel something for your cheesy romance line. I'm not sure we know each other well enough to call it love, but there's definitely something that tickles me the right way.

I can imagine him refusing prior to Shep and Kolyat and now being too late... I don't know if a transplant would help any at this point seeing how Kepral's had spread to other organs as well.
OmagawdIcan'ttalkaboutthisIgetallanxiousandconfusinglymistyintheeyedirection.

Sunshines and rainbows and a cure for Thane in ME3!

Well it depends on what exactly Kepral's does to the other organs. A transplant would certainly help him breathe easier and eradicate the disease in the lungs, and medication may be enough to help suppress the disease in his other organs. [Going to look up more about Kepral's before getting into the scientific stuff]

The main point is that since it spread past the lungs, a transplant isn't a cure. It's a treatment and could give him some time, but not a cure. And honestly, I'm okay with that. Us Thane fans get to keep him around longer and no one rants and raves about a miracle cure. He's still terminal and living on borrowed time; there's just more of it.

I hope it's not to late for him to get on the list.

Maybe another reason he refused is because he knows it is only temporary fix. He will still be dying. It will buy him some time. How much time I don't know. A few months or one or two years.

I agree with this. However, in all honesty, I don't give a rat's tailend about some people flipping over 'a miracle cure'. In all honesty, I find it more hard to believe that they can't find a solution to something like Kepral's when they can actually resurrect a dead person. Yes yes, best scientist, lot of money yaddayadda, my point still stands. Seeing what an acute problem Kepral's is for the drell living on Kahje, affecting thousands if not tens of thousands, I have hard time believing that the hanar wouldn't pour all the necessary resources into it.

In that light, buying time for Thane would be more than worth it. Then again, I'm afraid Thane's illness has advanced so far that even if they found a cure, they're gonna end up saying it's just too late for this one particular drell.

We have to take into account the dangers of an organ transplant as well. For all the medical advancements in the ME universe, I'm sure it's still risky switching out your organs and surviving the new ones. Maybe Thane doesn't see it as worth it because he has a suicide mission, and there's no point in a temporary treatment if the chances of his death are just going to overshadow it anyway.

As for Kahje, the hanar are pouring all the necessary resources into it, but they might not have the science Cerberus had in bringing Shep back to life. Even if the hanar are willing to spend unlimited resources on finding a cure because they care enough for the drell, it's possible they need off-world help. And off-world help can be mighty greedy.

Do you think if we gave the top Hanar minds the same kind of illness Thane has (ignore the specifics, we gave em Keplar syndrome somehow) it will create a cure faster?

Or we could go to a dark alley in Omega, harvest us a pair of fresh vorcha lungs and find one of those convincing batarian "doctors" in a trenchcoat.

Yes I think it would.
I just want to know if they are even close to finding a cure.

Hmm... If the hanar had Keprels's syndrome , then they would find a cure marginally quicker, but Thane explains how useful the drell are to the hanar. Hanar are incapable of many practical things. Thane even admits that hanar cannot become assassins, so drell must be trained for them. It appears to be a symbiotic relationship, even though Shepard perceives the hanar as doing little more than enslaving the drell, it is obvious that they both need each other.

I am soooo glad that the hanar rescued Thane's ancestors from Kahje! All the Thane love on this thread! I feel like I am getting smothered in Thane teddy bears!

And I like it ;)

My mind should be on the presentation I have for class in ten minutes. And now it's wandering....

Perhaps a random question for my favorite drell fans: If Thane were to listen to human music, what would he pick? Something classical? A romantic ballad? Maybe screamo is soothing to drell ears?

I have learned to adapt to the mind wandering to Thane and back. I have a report due in three hours but I'm not worried, it'll get done. And I will still talk Thane love whilst I work. :D

Wait wut-- I get busy for a day and then I find out you were writing steamy romance novels in here?

NeitiCora: you mentioned the new version of that video... I found it (I think) --> SMEXINESS.  It's not all that different from what I can tell, just polished up extra hawt-like.

Tentura! I was wondering where you were. Ah yes, the peeling off of the coat. I do love that coat, with all it's buckles, clasps and zipper. The zipper is the best part in my opinion. :D

Ash in Thane's coat.... Hmm.... LOL I'm not sure I can allow that. Yeah, no unless you have a really good argument to support your rationale.

He seems interested in human culture so I think he'd explore all music. I can't help thinking he'd listen to classic rock (and by "classic" in ME I mean anything from modern to '60's rock). And probably classical, stirring symphonies.
