It's a shame you have to wait till the end of the game to get him as a companion, unless you modify your game with the save editor. If not for that, he'd be a primary squadmate besides Thane. I usually just take Thane and Kasumi, as they complement my infiltrator perfectly and... well, we all look good in black leather -- lol.

Played as Infltrator 3 times, Sentinel 4, Vanguard mostly. Once as soldier, didn't like that at all, so never again. Twice as Engineer, not to thrilled with that either. Never Adept.........
Yeah, we all do look good in leather, except for that stupid lbd in Kasumi loyalty mission, don't get me started - I already have a thread going about that. My favorite outfit is a free download project of a black leather pants/tunic uni, with purple highlights. Matches my FemShep's violet eyes, But, I digress.....

But yeah, I can't play anything other than infiltrator. Everyone and their mom is a biotic in ME2, so I didn't see it as necessary for my Shep to be one as well.

There is also a download TexMod where he is in black & white leather with gold highlights. (and I'm not talking the BW "pay for this" DLC). Sunnie has one where Shep's cabin has paperwork, wooden headboard and b&w bedspread. Demonslayer and Strudelmann have TexMod outfits that allow Shep to wear some really sexy outfits (sensible sexy, not ****ty sexy like the Asari dancers) in addition to Asari long dresses in various colors. So, she looks awesome when Thane is with her in her cabin. I'll get details for you over the holiday, unless others respond w\\info. Gotta get to bed. Early Turkey Day tasks to do..........

Bahahaha. Brilliant.
I'm sure there was some marketing value behind Thane's attire / personality -- just like there was for Miranda and her compellingly revealing outfit. Thane was, after all, designed for attracting female players (congratulations, BioWare -- you've succeeded). So yes, it's there in some part to grab your attention, but it amazes me when those people act jealous over an NPC.
Of course, it doesn't help when all the ladies fawn over Thane and all those poor real boys can't compare. ;P
Of course it worked. He looks good in that outfit. The person who wrote that Thane was looking for attention by wearing that wasn't talking about our attention. They meant from female characters in the game. That includes Shepard. They said he just wanted Shepard and every other female in the game to notice him that's why he walks around looking like that. This was before LotSB so they brought up how his chest and back are exposed. It was just so ridiculous. They basically made it sound like he is wearing that outfit to pick up women. Anyone who has talked to Thane knows that isn't true. I'm sure if he wanted to he would have had no problem finding any random woman to pick up. He mourned his wife for ten years. He didn't find love again until ten years later. If this person had been talking about attracting female gamers I wouldn't have thought it was such strange thing to say, because as you said he was designed to attract female players.

@ Hedgepath - don't worry about it! Always glad to have people posting here! And Raven, I love biotic powers! I think the ragdoll effects are hilarious at times, and a shockwave/throw teamed with reave and Thane's warp = biotic heaven!
Love Kolyats facepalm
Raven.... Do you have a thing for Kolyat

We really don't get enough time to get to know Legion because we get him so late in the game. I wish we got Thane a little earlier too.

I guess this actually depends on how you choose to space out the missions and sidequests in your game. Getting Thane, Samara, and Legion later in the game and doing mostly main-mission stuff before the Relay meant that by spacing out the conversations, their conversations continued past the suicide mission, especially Legion's. I got to talk to them for longer than the early game recruits, whose conversations had tapped out either before or just after the Collector base.
Also, I can't take Kolyat seriously. I admit to feeling more than a little glee in scaring the crap out of him during Thane's sidequest

Ok next playthrough I need to do that. I wish some of the conversations were longer. Kolyat needs the crap scared out of him. What makes me laugh a little is if you choose to shoot Kolyat.

(And he's closer to my age than Thane is, though I'd still rather take Feron
Anyone else in here find Thane really difficult to write? I'm realizing that in all my fiction, he's always the character I spend the most time writing dialogue for, mainly because I'm scared if I make him too eloquent, he'll sound pretentious.

I'm not going to lie here: I adore Kolyat. He's a little whiny, sure, but I understand why and how he turned out that way. He's one of my very favorite characters to write--enough of a personality to really shine through and make sure he's not OOC, but you've got enough wiggle room to really flesh him out, make him seem like a strong character.

I think Kolyat is a sweet kid with a lot of issues. I do understand why he has those issues. The only think about Kolyat that I don't like is his look. I do hope to see him in ME3. I would much rather take Thane then Feron. I have never written fanfic. I leave that to people like you. I would imagine that Thane is very difficult to write. I'm not sure if I've read any of your stories.

I think Heart to Heart is the only one with a real Thane voice; the rest are mostly Kolyat-based.
(apologies for plugging myself, not trying to be self-centered/break rules
Kolyat's look is...interesting, to be sure. Mainly because I don't see a lot of Thane in his apperance. But I do love that they gave him a unique model--to me that signifies that he's more important than just one mission, he's integral to Thane's character and possibly due to re-appear in ME3. He does seem to take after (I assume!) Irikah for looks though-not just the chin, but facial structure and coloring. I wonder if he takes after her personality-wise too?

I'll have to read these. I actually have read the one called Contengency. I really liked that story. I thought it was funny, and I loved the frienship between Garrus and Shepard.
He defenatly has an interesting look. I do love his color, but his chin and head are a little big. I guess since he really doesn't look much like Thane that his looks come from Irikah. Personality wise he isn't much like Thane at all. One of the reasons is probably because Thane didn't raise him. Irikah is who he spent the most of his time with so personality wise he is probably somewhat like her.

Oh, I agree that Kolyat's issues are understandable. And he is kind of adorkable. But it's his parent issues that require my Shep to crawl along catwalks and deal with Elias, so by the time she gets to Kolyat, she and I are both a little testy and thoroughly enjoy shooting at him
Also, Feron stole my heart in Lair of the Shadow Broker. HOT DAMN.
