If Thane dies, Shep better ****in' cry. At least.

I doubt our ME3 crew will be reduced to lame roles. People argued that's what they did to our ME1 crew, but this third game is the finale. It has to be good.

Just because they did that to the ME1 crew does not mean they are going to do it to the crew in ME2. I don't know why people keep saying that.

The ME1 crew will probably have a more significant part in ME3. I can see Wrex with a krogan army at the ready, for instance.

Sable - I hadn't thought about replaying ME2 and having Thane go out in a "blaze of glory", if he isn't in ME3 or is still "wasting away". I like the idea, even if it means playing ME2 for the 16th time. I'd still do i if I had to, I won't put a fictional character through what I see in real life r/t slow, impending, wasting away death. I'd rather not, but "Blaze of Glory" is better for Thane than wasting away. He could never handle the "pity" and other constant negative emos that will come both to him and Shep...OK- I refuse to dwell, putting on my positive, "Thane will be in ME3" hat...

JECWSU & Tentura - I have ME1 & ME2 for PC. ME1 is now about $20.00 ($9.99 at some stores) and with the cheats, you can replay it again in less the time, get more achievements and $$$ to carry over in ME2. Also, when I repeated ME1 over again, I purposely didn't romance anyone, and imported that game in for ME2. Wanted to romance Thane with a clear conscience, AND, Alenko is so DEAD to me - what a jerk. The only member of my former squad that doesn't trust me, and has the nerve to critize me, w\\o knowing the facts. Wrex, Garrus, Tali and Liara are all supportive, but not the dumb ass human I slept with (or didn't in my replay-why waste my femShep self on that loser, when there is Thane, who is always there for me). More evidence for why nonhumans are better friends (and lovers, too). I'm told there's even a cheat "yellow" armor, that means you never die in ME1. You can even get an awesome gun that kills almost everything. That way, when you replay ME2, you've done all the stuff you need to do, in a short time, and can import your Shep into ME2 and then mod her to look AWESOME, along with her equipment and cabin. (eyes, hair, face, armor, uniforms, casual clothes, gun colors, bedspread, papers, etc). AND, you can mod Thane to look even more sexy, Garrus to have cool armor choices, Samara to have a more protective armor, etc. The possibilities are endless, and it doesn't take a techno geek genius to do it. If you can post on forums, troubleshoot games when they "crash", and "cut & paste", you can Mod ME files. I have faith in your abilities, Commander..........

Yes I can see that. The only ME1 crew member that seems to get the most attention is Liara. Her role in ME1 was more important than the rest of the crew. Wrex can also be dead in some playthroughs. She is the only one who is 100% alive in everyone playthrough. They have made her pretty important to the series. I don't know what they have in mind for Kaidan or Ashley.

I just ened up downloading other peples saves. I couldn't find ME1 where I live. I guess you are pretty much done with Kaidan. I think I pretty much found everything I wanted in a romance with Thane. He's perfect for all my Shepards even  the one I have set aside for Garrus.

Wow, thanks for all the info.  I was wondering how difficult it would be to mod - glad to hear it's simple enough.  All the clothing/hair/etc mods looked really cool, but now you've made it sound even better!  It's nice to know that there are mods that make it faster and easier to replay ME1 again.  I am one of those obsessive people who feels the need to do all the quests and explore everything in RPGs, so my ME1 playthroughs always took for-ev-er.  Maybe I will just have to get it for the PC, too... ^_^

How can Wrex die? I know you can avoid his recruitment, but he dies??!!
But I do agree with you here (apart from the amazing Tali and Garrus who WILL be squaddies right to the end, right??) All these mods sound really cool, I really need to get Mass Effect for the PC... As long as there are some decent hairstyles for femshep. Most of them are to severely tied up and aren't flattering at all.
Also... I am intrigued as to this Thane mod for his clothing. Does anyone happen to have any pics please? Also, I would love to be able to take screenshots with the flycam!

I don't know how anyone could let this happen... here it is. :crying:

Edit: there are other variations, like this ... but this is the point in the game where it happens.

Ahh, of course I forgot that can happen, I was always very persuasive, and Wrex was my bud, That royally sucks. Ash kicks ass though. Tough as nails that girl.

Speaking of squaddie deaths, it totally sucks that during the suicide mission, Thane is one of the easiest characters to die :(

Why is this!!

He's an assassin, he's just squishy. It's actually very easy to keep everyone from dying in the SM. Also, @Tentura - the hairstyles you can get from modding include Kelly, Jentha, Nef, and Ashley's hairstyle. I believe you can also get a mohawk. Those are the only ones I know of.

I would also like to see pictures of a modded Thane. :> I know there's one where he has tattoos, but I've never seen the clothes.

Squishy in a good way? And Thane with tats... Black ones? Or dark green would look good too. Hmm...

I'm glad those hairstyles are available, there are only two decent ones...

I believe Tali and Garrus will be back. They have been in two games so far already. I let Wex die by accident on my first playthrough. I didn't have enough points to talk him down and Ashely had to kill him. I deleted that playthrough and started over.

I didn't even know that Thane was one of the easiest members to kill, because it's just so easy to keep everyone alive. The one member that I heard was extremely hard to kill was Miranda. She can be killed, but I heard you have to take her to the final fight unloyal.

I haven't ever lost anyone in the SM, either... don't really understand why people would want to.

I don't think Thane was ranked as "easier" to kill, really... a while back, some folks on the board calculated their strength in holding the line at the end of the SM. He ranked at least toward the top of the middle range... I think only Grunt, Zaeed, and Garrus were better at holding the line. I think he suffers death in the mission mostly because of his high likelihood of dying based on poor command choices by Shep (I think he was most likely to die if the biotic specialist failed, for instance), or by Shep not upgrading the ship.

I may not be remembering it perfectly... probably should have looked up the thread before posting... lol.

ETA: ah, here's the thread, I think.  It is VERY detailed...

Yeah, just upgrade the ship, get everyone's loyalty, and don't choose Thane as any specialist and he'll live.

Just because they did that to the ME1 crew does not mean they are going to do it to the crew in ME2. I don't know why people keep saying that.

They did it to the ME1 crew in order to set up for ME3.  I think everyone would rather have their favorite characters cameoed for the middle game than for the finale.  I think if you include LoTSB, Liara got a pretty fair run of it, growing up into Little Miss Badass.  I wasn't upset with Wrex's cameo either--I think generally, I'm OK with cameos, even for characters I really like and would like on my squad, if they're off being awesome.  I wouldn't classify Ash turning up on Horizon as "being awesome," that was more like being the Alliance's butt monkey.

But I digress from Thane.  His Shadow Broker dossier does bother me a little, since his own resignation to his death seems pretty absolute in that.  However, I have a hard time seeing BioWare killing off one LI between or during the game and letting the others live.  Parity and all.  And for all Thane says about hanar scientists and the difficulty of finding a cure, they've been living with the drell for centuries and just NOW started on a gene therapy program?  With all due respect to the hanar, I think Mordin's more awesome than they are.

Of course, Mordin's more awesome than anyone.  So there.  I kind of wanted to say that to Thane when he was like, "Your doctor can't fix this."  I wanted Shepard to respond with, "Dude, my ship's doctor adjusted the freaking GENOPHAGE.  Your space black lung is way below his pay grade."

Thane is the only one that worries me. I don't know why the hanar haven't come up with anythying unless the disease is something new. I don't know the last time Thane checked to see if they have come any closer to finding a cure.

If Kepral's caused by cumulative long-term exposure to humidity, it should have turned up right away when the drell first left their homeworld for Kahje.  I doubt that the drell of 800 years ago possessed some sort of resistance to Kepral's that faded away over the years.  Thane is in his late 30s and in the terminal stages, but if the disease doesn't kill you before you typically procreate (Thane has a fully grown son), susceptibility to Kepral's wouldn't be selected for or against among the surviving drell.  I don't think the hanar are intentionally dragging their feet for 800 FREAKING YEARS; more likely it's less of a priority.  Also, drell biology is wildly different from hanar biology, so it probably took them a while just to figure out that bit.

As for Thane himself, he seems to have resigned himself to death, at least by the beginning of ME2.  Who knows--maybe giving him hope will get him to more aggressively seek solutions to his illness.

I still think Mordin's sheer aura of awesome is the solution, though :P

Remember, Mordin can DIE. They can't confine Thane's treatment to an expendable character like Mordin; that would mean no Mordin, Thane dies -- which doesn't quite make sense.

Also, Hana, that's a pretty amusing one. =]

That's weird. cuz on my first playthrough when i didn't know the choices and the upgrades to get (but I got all the ones for the ship) Miranda and Mordin were the only ones that died. But Miranda didn't have her loyalty, cuz i chose Jack! But the SM is easy now and i can keep the crew alive fine and dandy!

What i meant about Thane being one of the easiest to die is that if some things are missed off, then he has the highest priority of dying. He has high priority when the engine room explodes, and if the kinetic barriers aren't researched. And then on the collector ship, he can be sent into the vents (where he will die) and he can be chosen to do the biotoc barrier (where he will die) and there is the loyalty of course. But Thane is always loyal to me :)
