Tentura - Hahah, I wish I could say yes, but I've never played NV myself, just followed hubby playing. The moment I saw Boone and heard his story I knew a bunch of Thane girls were goners, lol. Don't you worry, you're definitely not the only one, I know a number of Thainted Booniacs. I'm a sucker for widower/snipers too, so I imagine I'll be head over heels for him if I ever end up playing NV.



Altough I have to admit...

Right now my love for Thane is at a level that allows no fond thoughts about others. x) I even have to stretch it to find some shiplove for Feron(/Liara).

Some of the fills I think I will post in ff.net at some point, but right now... I'm still too much of a wuss to admit my ficwriting habits, lol. I'm not even a native English speaker, so...

Hahaha... well, I know that feeling all to well.  I still can't believe I just outed myself.  *facepalm*  And don't worry about your English - you obviously have a better comprehension of the language than many native-speakers!!

Lol, it is so true.  He's no Thane, of course... but I still couldn't help myself.  My husband thinks it is hilarious that I call him Craig now when I am talking back at the game, since I have started using his first name in my fic (future chapters)... he's like, "Oh, it's Craig now, is it?"  LOL.  He loves making fun of me about Thane, too, of course.  Ohh, husbands.  Speaking of lols... this is something you and your husband will probably appreciate, if you haven't seen it.  I just about died.

That was just hilarious!!! Daaw! I haven't played Vegas yet, I played Fallout 3 and was confused. It SHOULD be a good game, but there were too many little things about it that annoyed me... I had to be in the right mood for it. But I may check out Vegas just for this Boone person. If he was anything like Thane... Implications, gooooood!

You know, in some ways, I prefer masskink.  I get to post malien smut, and because it's via livejournal's format, I don't have the option to just sit and fuss.  I post as I write.  It makes for slightly less polished work, perhaps, but it's just more fun because I spend less time agonizing over little details.  And half the time it's not even smut, just adorable fluff.

Also, masskink is less scary than DA kink.  Maybe it's because I prefer the folks of the Mass Effect fandom, but is it weird that I find templar blowjobs more disturbing than krogan sex?

What do you think of conflict in a story? What about character development?

(1) You know, I really debated on that.  I kind of decided that she was too thrown off and uncomfortable with their strained interaction that she didn't react like she might have if anyone else had done it.
(2) Oh puh-leeze... thats obvious.  She was just too tired from all the hawt sex they'd had earlier.  Haha...
(3) What do you mean?  Like conflict between Kai and Thane?  I have read several fics that handle that well, so I'm definitely not opposed to that.  Actually, I had a lot more conflict between Shep and Kai at the end of my first draft of FD, but I ended up changing it.  My interpretation of Kai was that he wouldn't get into an outright brawl... but I thought that accidentally having a flash of emotions bring out some biotics would be realistic.  Might not have been the best choice... I don't know.  As far as character development goes, I think that is probably something I could improve upon.  I should have worked to flesh out my Sheps a bit more, I think.  I sometimes find it hard to write up stuff that seems like I am
summarizing the game... when I look it over, it feels like it would be tedious to read.  That probably would have been a good opportunity to do more char dev.  I hope that makes sense.

You guys, I was being serious!  Kinda.  *pouts*  I can look at most of the masskink prompts and go "meh" or "oooh!"  An alarming amount of the DA kink prompts involve things that make me want to claw out my eyeballs.  Maybe it's because the ME2 lot doesn't really contain much out of the ordinary apart from the xenophilia, and I'm so used to it that it just sails right over my head.  Or maybe it's because FemShep doesn't put up with nearly the amount of non-con that the female Warden is subjected to.  My best friend actually worked out the percentages FOR SCIENCE.  I don't know what's wrong with us

Apologies for being a goof.  I do that sometimes.  I am not very familiar with the DAkink stuff on livejournal.  But if the prompts are that skewed, I can understand your feelings.  With Masskink prompts, I can imagine you might be more inclined to just wrinkle your nose and go, "wait, wut... REALLY??" and then keep on reading than claw your eyes out!

Gnas, i totally agree with you. I was totally getting revved up when Thane was stretched out on the bed. But the cuddles were nice. And you know tentura, yours is the first fanfiction with Thane in, where I can imagine his voice speaking the words. Honestly, it all just totally flowed with him, and I could hear that husky voice when I was reading. Brilliant! Dunno how you did it, but brilliant!

I wonder why the DA kink is worse than Masskink? And people make fun of me for being a xenophile, when actually, templars are much more filthy. Geez, the fanbase for Alistair is HUGE though...

You have a very good point.  I will admit I don't have a complete understanding of the military psyche.  I do see what you mean.  I guess it would depend on how controlled she was at the time, maybe.

Take every advantage! Enjoy the time!  In other words, she should but then that would just be smut, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Hahaha - I wasn't confident in my smut writing at the time, to be honest.  I am tackling that for the first time in my current fic.  Working on that chapter right now, actually.  So, see?? ...I am challenging myself, haha.

That makes sense. I was thinking from a more interpersonal point of view. See, I love Shepard's perspective, its Thane's that gets me. Or even Kaidan's being that we don't see the world how they see it. I think the best fanfics are those from other characters point of view. If you did one from someone else's point of view, who would that be?

Ah, I see.  Yeah, I think Thane's pov would have been interesting in that one.  That's another place I'm trying to improve, actually.  I have been bouncing back and forth between pov's in my current fic (between the main character and Boone).  I like the result.  I should try to focus more on the other characters next time I write for ME.

As for writing a fanfic from Thane's perspective, give it a shot! Like I said, you certainly have the character of Thane handelled beautifully! His words are just right and his actions too DO IT!

Aww, sorry to be a Thane-tease, ladies.    Wow, I can't believe you felt that way about my Thane... I am so happy that you liked my choice of his dialogue.  I swear, that was really hard for me.  I kept going back and watching clips of him talking (for science!), trying to pick up all of his subtleties.  I'm glad you liked it!

Lol.  Okay, so maybe it's not very normal... being so desensitized to xenophilia.  But, whatevs.  Here's what you do: think of it like being highly trained for a dangerous sport.  You can read something without batting an eye... that would cause a regular person to keel over dead from shock.  Proud yet?
