Then I played DAO and my first playthrough was, of course, with Alistair as the LI. After that, it was always Zevran. The same with ME, with Kaidan as the LI. i was okay with that until I played ME2. I've never changed my mind so fast on a LI. Both Garrus and Thane make Kaidan look like a helpless little recruit instead of a full soldier.

I did have Garrus as a LI in one playthrough, but he's so BFF that I only did it once. Thane has me hooked around both his little fingers. Wish they had more dialogue...

As for age, they all seem to be close enough to my age to make it not noticeable. Well, except for a lot of the crew. They seem really young.

This pretty much is how I feel. I was also ok with Kaidans romance. I liked his better than the other two, but once I got into Thanes romance that was it for me. I have never looked back. Horizon didn't really help and I just found myself annoyed with that letter Kaidan sends you. However I did manage  to complete on loyal playthrough for him, but the only way for me to do that was to not talk to Thane. The only way I could do it was to just not talk to Thane. I did do the romance for Garrus once. It took me a little while to get into it , but once I did I enjoyed it.

As a love interest, Kaidan was a tragedy. The ME1 romances were all pretty... um, "clingy" I guess is a good word. It felt like half the crew wanted in Shepard's pants.

Thane is awesome because he's one of the few people in ME2 who doesn't constantly bring up the fact that Shep was dead, lost people close to her, or talks about how impressive / famous she is. He treats her like just another person, at first. And the romance is unexpected. Even if you knew going in that Thane was a possible LI, it still wasn't obvious like Kaidan or Liara. Thane just kind of... slides up on ya.

;)

Dear god, ME1 was a minefield of trap romance.  I didn't really mind it with Liara--if you let her down very gently, it's kind of sweet in a dorky, socially awkward way.  I had to be pretty awful to Kaidan to avoid his "mixed signals" dialogue.  I actually liked him better once I firmly friendzoned him and no longer had to worry about him being clingy.

Also, ravenimage, where are you in Southern California?  I'm in LA, and it's freezing here too.  I moved to California to escape this kind of thing dangnabbit.

Dorky archaeologists win out over emotional marines, I have to say. But green men who leap from ventilation shafts and gently murder asari beat all. Oh, and I live near Palm Springs -- 'bout a half or so hour away. I imagine LA would definitely be freezing. It's sunny here, but very brisk.

It sounds like some people didn't really care for the ME1 romances. So does anyone have a loyal playthrough if they romanced someone form ME1?

I found it a little hard to do.

I'm still struggling with ManShep's ME1 playthrough, romancing Ash, and I honestly think the only ME1 squaddie I could remain loyal to is Liara.  She grows up so much, then goes through hell and back for Shepard, and her reason for not coming along is much more valid than the Virmire survivor's--she's trying to take down the deadliest information broker in the galaxy.  I feel like cheating on Liara deserves a What the Hell Hero.  But Ash and Kaidan?  Fair game :)  My ManShep's going to drop Ash like a hot potato for Miranda come ME2.

Someday I'll get around to going through my loyal playthrough.  It's not that I didn't care for the ME1 romances so much (I did feel they were on the ninja-y side), I just feel that Thane fits my main Shepards like a glove, it's spooky almost.  Actually, most of my Shepards are single in ME1.

I simply could *not* stay loyal. Ugh, and I must add - I hate the term 'loyal.' Anyway, I romanced Kaidan, mostly because he was there and breathing and I got an achievement for it. It's not that I dislike him as a character. I just didn't feel like the relationship made sense for my Sheps. If by some feat of self-control I can manage to stay out of Life-Support, I can't avoid calibrations with Garrus. It just wasn't meant to be. The only way I can see myself doing a loyal playthrough is if I go back and romance Liara. Knowing what kind of a person she grows into between ME and ME2, I can see my Shep sticking with her. Maybe. It will be difficult, ha.

I guess loyal is the wrong word. How many of you stayed with your ME1 LI if you had one?

I guess Liara is probably the only one that most people could stay with, but if I had romanced her with a FemShepard I don't think I could stick with her with Thane around.

I'm going to get around to a playthrough where my FemShep stays with Liara. I'm actually curious to see Thane's dialogue when he isn't romanced. Liara is by far the most selfless / best ME1 romance in my book, simply because she never stops caring about you, rescues your corpse, and still wants you to be happy whether you're with her or an ME2 romance. I think she deserves some happiness of her own, lol.

Raven stands, quickly trying to excuse herself from Thane's magnetic presence.  "I should get back to my duties."
Thane leans forward on the table, "Shepard.  I appreciate these chats we have."
Raven's lower lip trembles a bit... her strength wavering.  Liara! she reminds herself.  "You've spent a lot of your life alone, Thane."
"Huh," he laughed... he laughed!!  So irresistible!  "Work fulfilled me, reading.  I barely spoke to anyone outside my family.  It seems there will be no one to mourn me when I die."  Are those puppy dog eyes?  "You're the only friend I've made in ten years."
*Thane fingers his zipper pull seductively*
Raven melts into a puddle of goo: "Friend, huh?  That's a start."

... yeah right, Raven.  Dream on.

 To bad for  Liara.

If only.

You win this round, zipper, with your half-up-half-down shenanigans.

But I'm on to you.  I expect full on, exposed-in-all-its-glory drellchest for ME3.

Take dat, zipper.

Oh the glory of Thane's zipper. Considering it's only 9:45 am here and I've already been on deviantart for an hour, and am now slipping into memories of *his* zipper, it's going to be a long, hot (temperature) day.

you've probably already seen this, but still worth a view...

Yes, it's me again...and with another question. Save Thane on Facebook. What is the legal way to go about putting something on my profile pic for this? Where to get the stuff etc.?

Suggestions? Pretty please?

I don't have a clue myself :(

But as to the previous question, I have never stayed with an ME1 romance. I was thinking of Garrus the whole time I was with Kaidan (the sex scene may have been awkward! Hehe, thank goodness it faded to black!) And I thought that ME1 characters through into ME2 had all - as Sable would put it - 'taken a level in badass-ery!

Liara is becoming scarily like her mum, she is tough and brutal, rather than some 'innocent' and fragile character, which I love! But I don't have Live yet on my sexbox, so I still don't have LotSB. And Kaidan is still too emotional and indecisive for me, nice guy, but certainly not romance material.

Tali has become an amazing character in ME2, despite the Tali hate. In ME1 she is a bit naive (trusting the SB) and very new to the world, she gets excited by, pretty much everything. In ME2 she is totally badass, HUGE difference.

Thane enters as a brand new character, but he is just so badass that it practically shines out of his every orifice (anyone get the Fable 2 reference? No? Goes back into corner...) He never judges Shepard's actions, doesn't make a deal out of her rank over him, and he has a lot of depth to his character. This immediately makes him superior over the ME1 romances (sorry!)

So there is my very opinionated input :)

*sigh* I like the way your mind works Tentura. Posted Image

Yeah, Maybe in ME3. Fanfic would be good. There's just never enough Thane fics...

Maybe, just maybe, since ME3 is the last one (duh me), they could actually give us a toolkit? Imagine the modding possibilities...

I love this comment. Forever.

I wonder if Thane would ever get as frustrated over Shep's compellingly tight N7 leathers as we do with his zipper.

Pssst, it's very quiet in here. -_-
So I was thinking (be very afraid), do the moderators pay any attention to us? I still have a way to go through the old posts, but I don't really see much from them.
Do we want to? I'm bored and can be really cheeky when motivated.

btw, what ever happened to the tshirt idea?

BOO! Not so quiet anymore ;)

I have seen Pacifien and Stanley Woo post comments on a few things. SO the moderators are definately on. Why? What mastermind plots are you hatching? I won't let you get the Thane thread get locked though! I recently discovered that one of the Tali threads got locked at at over 10500 pages! That is insane! And all that in the space of 4 months, I thought the Kaidan and Liara threads were long, and they have been around much longer than the Tali thread was...

I am loving the zipper comment too! But Shepard's armour isn't even that fitting? I thought it was kinda bulky, but I suppose it depends on what you put on. I much prefer Thane's clothing, on or off...

Glad you agree with me JECSWU! I do get slightly opinionated. I just prefer manly guys to clingy, indecisive ones. (Please don't shoot me Kaidan girls!) Don't get me wrong, I think Kaidan is a great guy, but Garrus and Thane kick his ass hands down!

Ack! No thread locking intended! They just seem more active on other places and I wondered if they just decided we were too well behaved to check on us. Pffft. Actually, what is the rating on these threads? PG-13ish? I am doing my absolute best to restrain my drellicking comments. Posted Image  Annnd, I'm almost half way through this entire thread. Yay me!

Ahh, the glory of Thane's zipper... and with that, I may actually go happily to sleep.
