I think it's more likely that they're frightened to set foot in this thread.  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/cool.png[/smilie]

You asked about a t-shirt... I remember there was a plan a while back for a fan-made one, but I don't know if that ever went anywhere.  This official one is still status unknown as far we know, even though the legion one next to it is now released.  There has been no release date announced for the Thane T.

That probably was Thane's funniest line in the game. What do you think?

Yeah, i liked that line. I remember going "huh?" because it sounded so out of character for Mr. Polite.

That would be good, but I also like this one.

Excellent picture / potential art for a t-shirt. :>

That's what I thought when he said that line, and the fact that he was so deadly serious whe he said that line, he is a closet comedian isn't he? Hehe. I'm still waiting for a Garrus Tee though, I want one that says 'Can it wait a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.' Then if I don't want to talk to someone, then I will point at my T-shirt! Hehe. I love all the ideas for a Thane. I have asked for some Bioware clothing for christmas, but lady clothing is depressingly limited, especially in the Thane and Garrus department (NOTHING!)

I may go to one of those places where you can print a message and picture on a T-shirt though and do it like that. It may work out cheaper anyway, and a plain T-shirt only costs a few quid. *Hear that Bioware? You are losing money due to the lack of Thane/Garrus clothing! Hehe.* But if the deity of Bioware is listening, then please note that I love you! Hehe!

haha love the Garrus idea. I would never be able to take it off though...

Are we allowed to do our own tshirts? I just assumed it was some form of copyright thing, so wasn't going to bother. BUT what if one of our most beloved, talented Thane artists came up with the design or agreed to let us use the artwork for real. Is that acceptable? I just don't want to get in trouble personally or get Thanedom in trouble.

There are many shops where you just give em a line to write, and they will print it. I'm sure if I just put 'Can it wait a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.' Then it won't be copyright, but for a pic of Thane, you may need to ask one of the moderators (although you are right, it appears that they shy away from the insanity of the Thane thread.) Some clothing for more of the squaddies is a must though. They have Tali, Legion, Grunt and even Isaac Newton. But Garrus is always voted as the most popular character :( And Thane has is the coolest looking alien ever. Bah!

Thane's image and his lines would probably produce a copyright issue if a fan decided to make t-shirts with them, but a t-shirt that says, say, "Neck Snap Appreciation Society" might be okay. ;>

Hmmm, so I could just go get a shirt made that says "Preserve Drellicking" and it would be okay? Only because they could probably come back with a name infringment or something...but to have his face, er image, draped on my chest is too much to resist. :)

I concur. I actually recall someone making t-shirts with Alistair's face on them and selling them on e-bay and the like. Not sure if it was legal, but it was done.

Ugh, I am officially on page 96. I tried going backwards and got to page 200, but that was really confusing. LOL

And it is so nice to see that I'm not the only person suspicious of the Hanar.

The hanar are suspicious. Suspiciously yummy. *ducks* It's a reasonably popular theory that the hanar are up to something.

Thane inspired clothing!? Yes, please! Sign me up. Now, if someone made a t-shirt for themselves and made no money on it then I think you could technically squeak past the whole copyright issue. Anyone outfitted to do silkscreening in their free time?

Ah yes, the yummy gummy Hanar. I'm still drooling over that 4.5 pound gummy bear!

Yeah, I still think about them. It couldn't be slavery cuz that's illegal. It's a form of indentured servitude. YES, I air quoted and everything!

Yeees, think of the possibilities. Yummy Thane tshirts everywhere! It could be like a secret Thane society, with those outside looking at us like we had actually lost our minds. LOL

If we've lost our minds, it's because we've been drellicking. It's all BioWare's fault.

I'm not sure if it could be indentured servitude. I know there's the Compact, but Thane says a drell can refuse to fulfill it if they wish. The hanar seem pretty equitable -- is that the right word? -- when it comes down to the drell, but only time will tell...

Oh, yes. I rhymed. I went there.

It's pretty sinister of his parents to send young Thane into assassin training.

I can't remember if he said most people don't refuse. He did say they consider it an honor. Thane really didn't have a choice in the matter. He was only six so his parents are the ones who had to agree to this. I do wonder what would happen if someone did refuse, and I wonder if his parents knew what they were going to train him for.

That bothers me more than anything else--the lack of consent on Thane's part.  Couldn't they at least wait until the kid's sixteen or so and old enough to understand what's happening to him?  I understand it's a honor, but the fact that an impressionable kid can be handed over by his parents before the age of consent is just plain f-ing creepy.  And not ok.

I mean, arguably, Earthborn Shep's in the same position--Earthborn Shep learned to kill people not by voluntarily joining the Alliance, but due to the circumstances of his/her upbringing.  But that was a case of where Shep grew up, not someone explicitly turning her into an assassin before she even knew what it meant to take someone else's life.

Sinister by human reasoning.

I can't remember either because I usually avoid that particular dialogue option, as it seems to insult him. And my character is too unbiased to care; a "what's done is done" type person. Maybe ME3 will explore Thane's history a bit more in that regard.

It's easier to train a small child than one that's grown enough to make his own decisions. They needed him, preferably at an age he could be easily molded. Terrible, but necessary to them.

I had wondered about all this myself, too.  I mean, sure... drell do apparently see certain things differently from humans.  But, I am guessing killing is still viewed in a negative light.  After all, Irikah did try to stop Thane from taking his mark that one time.  Why would she do that if she didn't feel it was morally wrong?  I think it is feasible that his parents didn't know what he was training to become.  Poor little Thane... no say in his future. :(
