Who said death was incurable?

Right, if they can bring Shepard back from the dead, they could do the same with Thane. If they were willing to spend that much money, that is. And they probably won't do that. Argh.

Let's just ask Mordin to create a cure! He can cure almost anything with the awesome powers of his brain.

Yes, granted billions of credits were spent on Shepard to bring him/her back to life, but the impossible was done. Using this logic I think a cure could be found given the resources.

Ha! I'll just chain him down and demand it from him! "Mordin, you're not going anywhere until you find a cure!"

Oh shoot....he died in my first playthrough...better make sure he's alive in the save I import to ME3!

Hey now in reallife were closer to regrowing limbs then we are curing incurable diseases.

I posted on another thread, might as well post it here.

this is how shepard "cures" thane

*garrus walks into shepard's room*

garrus: you wanted to see me shepard?

shepard: I cured thane!

garrus:how?

shepard: ta-da!

*reveals that thane was placed in a fish tank*

garrus: what the hell shepard!

*thane struggles and tries to yell at shepard and at garrus to let him out*

shepard: look, he's making cute fish faces

garrus: he's not a fish shepard, get him out of --

*thane's body is then seen floating to the top*

shepard:awww, he's sleeping

*garrus faceplams*

...

but seriously, thane should return in ME3.

Oh, we always go for the eyes!
And other sensitive parts.

Oh, I totally agree with you though. Modern medical science works wierd that that, but you also have to think about how much funding is going into certian things. Take HIV/AIDS for example. A disproportionate ammount of money is giong into research to cure it and there seems to be no positive signs for a cure in sight. But then the ammount of money going into research to say Alzhiemers is incredibly low, but there have been many advancements and signs of being able to prevent and even cure it. If it had the proper funding I'm sure they'd have a cure....

Anywho...where was I even going with that? I guess the main thing is, if you had unlimited money and resources, I'm sure it could be done. This is science fiction after all, maybe things work backwards. Maybe they  have cures for cancer and whatnot, but everyone is still afflicted by the common cold.

Who knows.

Yes this has happened, but usually its seconds or minutes after they've been dead. As long as the body tissue doesn't begin to necropsy (what is the adverb for rotting flesh?!) the heart can sometimes be reanimated with an electronic jolt.

Or by sheer wierdness. Bodies go into deathlike states I've heard where they have no vital signs...but I know little about that so I'm not going to say stuff that's not true. XD

Shepard was dead for two years. As Jacob said, "Dead as dead can be."

This is the truth! Mordin's genius can cure anything, but if there is a cure it should come at a very high price, I hate it when things are so convenient.  If there is a cure at all it should not be all rainbows and butterflies, it should be like having to decide between curing the genophage and an entire species, and curing Thane. How far is Shepard willing to go to save her LI?

Bioware has showed us they're all about giving their consumers the choice.  For them not to give us a choice in the ONLY LI that has a terminal illness.. heck the only immidiate character that has a terimal illness would be totally ridiculous to me.

I like the idea of the cure being a moral dilemma.  Of course I would choose the cure, but the idea is really cool.  Maybe even get renegade points for making the selfish choice.  Thane could be all like "My life isn't worth that of hundreds"  and Shepard replies "I"m not going to lose you."

I've been thinking on a good way to fit a cure in. I love the moral dilemma option, but also I have been thinking of letting the cure be linked to the ME2 save. If Thane was Shepard's LI then Shepard has a personal interest or personally invested in finding a cure. So is Thane. Without the love scene I get the feeling that Thane was content with his fate. Only after he falls for Shepard does he become afraid to die. I think it is because now he has something to live for. He was dead for 10 years and Shepard reawakened him, and now he doesn't want to leave her. At least that is how I interpreted it. With that being said, it would seem that now Shepard and Thane are interested or would become interested in finding the cure. As for the Male (or a non-LI Female) Shepard, even if they becomes good friends with Thane I don't see that deep of a connection between them forming, so a cure seems less important considering the reaper threat. Also as I said I don't think Thane is too worried about dying anyway until he falls for Shepard.

Just some thoughts I've been having. Thought I would share.

True but he does say that he is working on one.  Except it would cause liver failure....so he has to start over.  What you don't hear is Mordin ever talking about Kapral Syndrome.  He has time to talk to us about inter species sex, investigates a sexually transmitted disease aboard the ship originating by varren, studies Joker's disease, and creates and tests a bioweapon, but can't even look into Kapral Syndrome.......tsk tsk.

One difference between Joker's disease and Thane's is that Joker was born with his. Thane's was developed due to overexposure on Kahje. (It's really quite touching, considering what the drell do and withstand for the hanar.)

Mordin: Noticed closure with Drell. Looked up Kepral's syndrome. Analyzed data, highly interesting, got several ideas. Overlooked by the Hanar.

Shepard: Wait, what? Good ideas?

Mordin: *long pause... wide grin* Yes!

Ok, not likely but hey I'm fairly sure I'd die if Mordin would actually say that. xD

Well, all these things keep him pretty busy! :P

Actually, I also found it a bit strange that you can't even talk to him about the Kepral's syndrome at all. Somehow I'm getting the impression that Thane will either get killed off at the beginning of ME3, or that his story was planned to go into a certain direction from the beginning, and that there'll be some kind of solution to this problem in the sequel. I hope the latter is the case.

Alrighty, giving an update on the Cure Thane Fanclub!

We're at 286 members (Please continue to show the support, it's up to us!), and I'll be creating a youtube channel for the fanclub.^_^
Thanks to Tilarta for the great idea!
The artist responsible for our logo (nurse and thane) and I will be creating a flash movie. This may take some time, but it is already story-boarded out!
Keep an eye on this thread to stay up to date on the cure Thane Krios cause!<3<3<3:wub:
