Nooo don't even say it.  I can understand what you are saying, but it hurts too much to accept.  Besides, if they did that, it would just be putting the playing experience of the newb who picks up ME3 without playing the previous 2 above that of us dedicated fans who have played 1 and 2 and have come to LOVE all those characters.  I think those newbs can just deal with a little confusion at the beginning as they get to know the squad from ME2.

Mr. BigBenDude is interesting... he may have some role to play.  Garroo, Leeg, and Thaney-pants say we don't need any more snipers on my Normandy, though... so sorry, man.  Haha.  No, I would be willing to accept a few new crew members, but a whole new crew?  I will go ape if that happens.

If our Import-Shepard dies, I get the feeling that it means we'll start a new game using Canon-Shep, not Custom-Shep. Sort of like how people who didnt play ME1, had to play ME2 where the canon was, Shep never saved the Council and stuff.

Ergo, we will have all our Crewmembers. But there might be the chance that Canon-Shep got a couple of people killed, one of which could be Thane/Garrus/Tali. The Holy Trinity of Fan-Threads.

I agree.  Maybe you can customize your Shep's appearance and sex, but still, you'll be stuck with canon choices.  I can see that some crew might die in the canon run-through.  I wonder who it would be.  Also, in canon, are all the squad loyal?  Maybe canon Shep said "whatevs" about Tali's loyalty mission and got her exiled... or maybe canon Shep didn't resolve the Miri/Jack catfight with both still loyal?  All sorts of possibilities there.

But, I will be importing my own Sheps... so no worries for me!
