And that is why I called! Just been on Dragon Age, done the werewolf mission so I do believe I am ahead of you now Posted Image
I am getting Mass effect withdrawal syndrome though. No other games can compare. Bu I am not going on Mass effect until I get one and two for the PC so I can do a PC canon playthrough with all the DLC ready for ME3.
I guess I will have to do a Thane romance playthrough too Posted Image
But this guy Posted ImagePosted Image will have to come first! Hehe Posted Image

Tasha - Once you get ME & ME2 for PC, don't forget to check out the "mods" links to get awesome hair, eye color and clothing mods. Shep looks awesome in the outfits, and Thane is irresistibly (spelling) HOT in white, black and gold uniform. Christmas is coming, maybe Santa will bring you these :)

Am in Ortan Thaig myself in DAO. Refuse to play ME2 for the 18th time until I finish DAO this second time, and then Fallout, New Vegas once............

Gnas is helping me try & get some pics uploaded so you can see what I mean about Thane's outfit colors. Grunt looks kinda cool in his black and red, I think he's in the one pic I have.

Someone needs to write a "T" for the game, or did I miss that???

Gotta go, supper time for the humans and the dogs here.......

I could not play ME all over again, so I just bought ME2 for the PC. I am having fun with the modding. I am still having trouble with  the clothing mods. Was it hard for you to learn to do it?

I missed the serious conversation... well, don't have much to add now except that I agree with what was said about Thane and Kolyat's relationship. I always thought of it as Thane staying away because he didn't want to put his son in danger after his wife was killed. I don't know how I forgot or didn't hear that batarians killed her though. Why is their no Paragon interrupt hug for my Colonist MainShep? (I know the answer to that. Kolyat would think she's insane for shooting near him, hitting him, and then hugging him. But still. Everyone thinks/knows MainShep's a little crazy.)

Sable Rhapsody wrote...

Oddly enough, the dead ex romance that I felt dealt with it best was Solaufein, a fan-made mod romance for BG2.  Solaufein had a dead ex (one the protagonist helps kill, no less, after her mind's broken by the drow and she's irreversably turned evil), and he does have a handful of conversations about her, about three out of twenty total.  He talks to the PC about her and either a) resolves to do better protecting his next love or B) decides Faere's death and betrayal was never his fault in the first place, depending on the PC's actions.  And then he moves on with his damn life, and the romance progresses without getting hung up on the dead ex again.

Twenty conversations? Was that just for the fan-made romance, or was it normal in BG? Because if it was normal... now I know why so many people complain about the lack of squadmate/romance conversations and I don't mind it. ME1 was the first game I played that had deep talks with the characters and romance options, but if others are used to having a lot more than that... Wow, twenty. That would be awesome.

About mods, if/when I get a gaming PC, I'll have them and DLC and screenshots (and a very hard time with combat) all at once. It's a long way off though.

yeah true, I really need to get the hang of modding so I can have the cool hairstyles. Mass effect needs better hairstyles for the ladies Posted Image I bought new Vegas but I have yet to install and play it. Been too busy with work and being on the Thane thread! Hehe.
I know what you mean JECSWU, the gameplay in ME2 is so much better, but there are still some things that I prefer about ME1. But it doesn't have Thane in! Posted Image

Thisis true. I love ME1. It's the reason I bought ME2. It's just that I have played ME so many times that I just can't do it anymore. I bought the game when it came out and played it almost everday. I just ened up downloading other peoples saves of ME1, and putting those into ME2 for the PC.

ME2 having Thane is always a good thing.  I usually take Thane and Garrus everywhere once I have both of them.I just  hope Thane is in ME3.

This is something that, no matter who says it, it's always the right thing to say.  :wizard:

"Did you wash my socks?"
"Shirtless Thane for ME3!"

"Wow, did you catch that movie the other night?"
"Shirtless Thane for ME3!"

"I just got bit by a piranha!  I can't  feel my leg!!"
"Shirtless Thane for ME3!"

See.  Always the right thing to say.

Did any of you think about not romancing Thane when you found out he was dying?

I never saw and still don't see Thane's shortened life span as a reason not to romance him.  So, a dying man isn't allowed to get involved in a relationship?  Frankly, it's up to Shep as much as its up to Thane.  I would think Shepard, of all people, understands living in the moment.

I know this is late Kai, but as usual I loved what you wrote. Posted Image

OK, let's put it this way.  The unmodded BioWare romances had about twenty conversations on average spanning BG2 and TOB.  However, you didn't talk to them for it--it was on a trigger timer.  Solaufein's modded romance is similar in size.  However, some other fan mods really go all out.  Flirt menus, conversations triggered by talking to the characters instead of the timer--I think the most extensive one was Kivan, who arguably spans all three games.  It's got to be at least fifty standard conversations total, plus the randomly triggered flirts and PC triggered flirts.

So yeah.  Crazy amounts of content both from the fans and from BioWare.  Of course, dialogue is cheap in a game like Baldur's Gate.

Hear, Hear!

Wow, so much I've missed.  Things are so busy... I have hardly had time to even read posts these last couple days!  You all are so hilarious, though.  And wow!  So many new people, and page 350 already!  :D  *Thane high-five (yes, I just invented this, but it seemed fitting)*  Come on, you know you've all tried to hold your middle and ring finger together in a Thane hand to see what it's like.  Or is it just me... ?

The most recent serious convo was whether or not Thane's illness played any part in my choice to romance him.  Nope.  My Shep wouldn't be deterred by that.  Even if I knew he would die in ME3, I'd still choose for my Shep to romance him.  But I'm not giving up hope that he will get some sort of treatment, and get a prolonged life.  Whatever the case, he's going to die eventually.  So will my Shep.  Heck, she could easily die before him either way.  I think she'd know this, and not care.  She just wants to live in the moment and enjoy whatever time she has.  The quote by Tennyson is so fitting here: "Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."
Hedgepath and Tasha both got NV!  Methinks there will be a few more Booniacs around here soon...  I am looking forward to playing some more when the DLC comes out on Tuesday.  Also, I bet you will be calling ED-E (supposedly pronounced Eddie) 'EDI' constantly.  I could not STOP doing that.  Too much Mass Effect 2!!

JECWSU - not hard to learn modding. It was really easy to do the hair and eyes from the Gibbed file. It was a bit harder to do the TexMod, but not still not too "techy". Trust me, if I could do, anyone can.It involves downloading the package from Biancoangela, the purple dress & uniform from Kikai and Sunnie's stuff for Shep's cabin (Projects tab on home page)......

AND, just sayin...imo...ME was "ok", ME2 is "fab", because of Thane. I hated that I was forced to have a LI in ME, and the choices sucked.....So, I played a FemShep and romanced Alenko the 1st time, and a MaleShep to romance Liara for the 2nd (to get the achievements). The 3rd time, I romanced NO ONE, and used that as my import.(total times played ME=3, total times played ME2=17!) I'm glad I did because Alenko is sssoooo lame and a wuss. Just sleep with me, and then suspect the worse of me, why don't you. Said it once, say it again, why did all my alien friends, who I did NOT sleep with, believe in me, and team up with to watch my back? But NO, not Alenko. My FemShep needs a man (like Thane), not a boy with growing up to do (like Alenko). Serves me right for "fraternizing" with a member of my crew, versus a colleague....Yeah, not too proThane here am I!!!!

Tentura - will always be a Thane fan...If I still feel Thane rocks over Alistair (finishing my 3rd & last DAO playthrough in anticipation of new release), no one else stands a chance. Nothing compares to Thane (dat bulge, dat voice, dhose eyes, dhose fingers- ok, going to fantasy land now.........)

@FieryPhoenix7 : Wow I love that post you made about the Thane romance.  I only got to read it not too long ago.  It was a great read.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

And yes I fully support Shirtless Thane for ME3! Though I very much prefer like a nekkid Thane... you know, for artistic purposes, ahem, yes that's right... FOR ART, DAHLING. *coughs*
