Reminds me of the love triangle dialogue he has:
Thane: It's occurred to me that I might not be foremost in your mind.
Shepard: You're the only one I want, Thane.
Thane: That is-- I'm glad to hear that. But others on the ship need to have that made clear. When no one else competes for your eyes, I will be here.

Can I see this anywhere? I have never done a love triangle so I have never gotten these lines of dialog.

According to recent speculation from someone who claimed to have an inside source at BioWare, ME3 will take place "several years" after ME2. I think several generally indicates the 3-5 range.

Meh.  I'll believe it when the game comes out :)

Honestly, all I want for Thane is a satisfying ending.  Whether that's a cure, a heroic death, or an extended lifespan, I don't care.  I just don't want the guy to die of space black lung in a hospital bed somewhere.  And if that IS what happens in ME3, I'm importing the save where I killed him in the suicide mission.  Guy deserves a better death, at least.

Maybe Shepard will have grey hair and a walking stick by then:P

If its several years it doesnt bode well for any of the characters I think.
By having years they gives Bioware a good excuse for the companions all to be gone. I would think it very silly to have to recrut Garrus and Tali for the 3rd time!

Here:

"You've all been deceived. Well at least that's what a reliable source within Bioware has told me. The trailer we all saw a few weeks ago was accurate in depicting Earths destruction, but clearly it doesn't tell the whole story. I've been informed that the trailer is from the perspective of the Earthborn Shepard, which is why the trailer was codenamed "Earthborn". Apparently Bioware has been listening to the feedback on how choosing whether to be earthborn, spacer, or colonist didn't make too much of a difference in the past 2 games; So now the option you choose or have chosen will now have a much larger impact. According to the source, there will be 2 other trailers highlighting the "Spacer" & "Colonist" viewpoint in the months to come. The other trailers could depict another attack on the citadel & fleets or multiple colonies/settlements with Alliance interest being attacked, etc. But it's been suggested that the main focus will be on stopping the reaper threat on Earth, where the final showdown will happen. The British guy in the Earthborn trailer is just a random soldier; he will have no role in ME3 at all.

Lastly, ME3 takes place several years after the events of ME2. The source has no info on whether Ash/Kaid will have a major role or if they achieved spectre status, no info about a Tali face reveal, the status of Mordin/Thane being alive, or any new members coming aboard the Normandy. It was hinted though that there could be early squad member deaths i.e. the suicide mission of ME2, so maybe at that point there could be new members to recruit or to fill the void. I'm sure there will be folks on here who will "dismiss this claim" but I'm only relaying what I've been told. Take the info I've shared how you want it. Happy/Merry Christmas."

No need to worry Thane, my Shep has eyes only for you.

I have to admit the Officer in the forward batteries manages to pull my Shepards attention away from Thane with his snarky attitude and adorable awkwardness. She can't help it, she finds tall awkward guys hot. :D

I'm not sure I believe this. The part about the different trailers for Shepards background could happen, and it all sounds interesting. I'm just going to wait and see.

Thane most "exotic male" character in the game. I think he will remain in ME3. Otherwise it is difficult to explain in the next part of the game "romantic" part of the story with him in ME2. It is natural for a female person. Do not leave his the same as the pictures in the Shep-cabin. In numerous fan-arte on games Thane has long been "married"… Moreover - he "abandoned" smoking and drinking and became an exemplary family man… There are some images on this topic in the second part of the small film (She-Shepard).

I think that Bioware will take into account is the view of many players.

Oh, the wait.  Thank goodness for all you fools ... I think I'd drive my friends and family crazy if I didn't have this place to come to and talk ME over the next year.

I personally don't believe that 'insider info'... there was another piece like this floating around several weeks ago, and I don't know that I believed it either.  I can't see Bioware employees just letting stuff like that slip.  Anyone could pretend to 'know someone at Bioware...'

I have a hard time thinking that a marketing plan that doesn't bother showing that you can play as female, would bother showing that you can choose different backgrounds for you character...

On the other hand, I would really like your background to have a little more weight in the main game. I really liked what they did in ME about that, in ME2... not so much.
I remember when I played my spacer Shepard and got to talk to my mom! now that was cool, then you go into ME2 and your mother writes you an email......*big facedesk*
My maleShep wants to give a hug to his momma!! :P

It is December 2011 yet? no? :(

Darth Vader thinks he is my father. He isn't. Therefore, his assertions are as invalid as they can be.

I would, but DA2 is coming out on March ( if not delayed ), so... I will grow my patience until then.
Once DA2 is released I will be distracted enough :o

I would prefer an active quest. One where we could buy Thane more time or obtain a viable treatment. I would like to see Thane live until the end of the series and then have an epilogue about what happened after the final battle.

This is what I'm hoping for, too. I want him to be with my Shepard until the end.

If the rumor is true and ME3 takes place a few years in the future I hope that doesn't mean having to recruit everyone again (love interest included). :/ Some people on the boards were speculating ME3 might start with Shepard breaking out from detainment somewhere. In Admiral Hackett's dossier there is a letter from someone asking for permission to haul Shepard in for questioning but the request was denied. Who knows what will happen?

I'm not sure. I'll try to look on youtube and see if I find anything. I'm at work (currently being distracted by the Thane thread :D) so I can't look now but if I find anything later I'll post the link.

Bioware should not have made such a great character, and my husband should have never bought me ME1. I think he is getting a little use to it now.
