Garrus and Wrex were my go to team every time in ME 1.

I don't "lock in" any squad mate, except Thane. I take Thane with me, when I can (except on missions which may worsen his KS, like humid worlds. Where there's H20, there's no Thane). It's usually Garrus and then I alternate with Jack (her commentary cracks me up), Grunt, Samara or Zaeed. Jacob is worthless imo......Just for the heck of it, I chose him as the biotic on the end run, and he got Grunt killed. Jacob can't hold the field, only biotic during all my playthroughs that couldn't. AND, "what up" with that weirdly long torso??? OK, back on track - usually Thane and Garrus or Thane and Jack. However, experimenting with Legion in next playthrough, his "hero worship" makes me smile.......

Admittedly, I would be pretty disappointed if Thane is dead by the time the third game starts. I love Thane, and his character is amazing. However, I trust Bioware to do right by the gamers. Whatever they do, it'll more than likely make sense and be in our best interest. Maybe one of the DLC's that covers the story arch could cover Thane and his sickness? My only request is that I get a chance to say goodbye, if he does indeed have to die.

Agreed.  I know I've said before that I wanted Thane cured - and I still do want to have that option - but if BioWare doesn't have that in their master plan at least I'd like to get the chance especially for my FemShep who romanced him to say goodbye.  I'd probably bawl my eyes out but if it's done beautifully I wouldn't be opposed to it.  I've always been a sucker for a good tear-jerker ^_^  Besides, as someone else pointed out a few pages ago, I can always go back and play ME2  and Thane will be alive again.  On that note, ****, my brain's just given me an idea. Crap. ^_^

But then you know he's gonna die! It's like an old video or picture. :crying:
I want to know that Thane can go on with his Siha and they can have happiness and love and... :P

For some reason, that's never stopped me from enjoying the rest of a movie, book, or game, even if the one moment is sad. Or you could plan out an alternate ending or resurrection of your favorite. I've done that. *looks at MainShep and Saren*

There was a TV show called "FireFly." I loved that show. I still do. Fourteen episodes of wonderfullness. Now, I have watched every episode multiple times as well as the movie "Serenity." Even though I know the show is done and gone, every time I watch the fourteenth episode, I feel sad. Nostolgia takes over. But that's just me. ^_^ Still, I watch them though and still I love them. Its the experience I always go back to, the adventure pulls me back in everytime.

If Thane does die, I think it would be the same experience time after time.

This is how I feel. You still know his is going to die. Going back and playing ME2 probably won't make me feel better. I don't do well with death scenes. No matter how good they are. I cry and cry. Especially if its a character I like. That would not be my first choice. I want the happiness and love ending option too Gnas. If I don't get that option then I will need a big box of tissue.Posted Image

I just don't like the idea of "boom, he's cured!"

Yus, agreed.

A "boom cure" is not what I want. As I'm not particularly fond of happily ever afters, which is probably what attracted me to Thane -- as morbid as that sounds, curing him would almost cheapen his story. Really, I'm the girl who was disappointed in Origins when my Cousland and Alistair were together in the end, but then it cheered me up in Awakening when I mysteriously disappeared in the epilogue. Happily ever afters just aren't emotionally powerful to me.

That said, I do want a chance to say goodbye to him in ME3 and maybe give him a proper send-off. I can't imagine he would die from his disease, if that's really his fate to die; I can, however, see him and Shep dying side by side or Thane blocking a shot meant for Shepard. Something like that. Whether you're Thane's LI or just his friend, he is protective of you. What better way to die than protecting someone you care about?

As for locked in squadmates? In ME1 it was Ashley and Liara/Tali. In ME2, Thane and Kasumi mostly because we three looked badass in skin-tight black leather. Boosh. Except on Omega. I always take Garrus with me to Mordin's RM. He's funny when he's sick.

@Gnas: Same for me. And every time I re-watch my favorite movies or re-play Mass Effect, I always notice something new, or think about something related to my favorite characters in a new way. Kind of like the screenshot of Thane praying in Overlord, and how most of us never would have known it was there, but it makes perfect sense.

Wasn't that a cool detail? I noticed that when I first played Overlord. I could barely make out Thane in the background and when I saw, I was like, "Oh! Thanks, BioWare. Awesome."

I played Overloard twice and I didn't even notice him praying. I need to go back and play it again.

I like those little details. It's nice that BioWare would take the time to make certain squadmates do something different there when they could have just animated all them the exact same way.

There was someone you could talk to in ME2 about another Drell being cured with the same sickness that Thane has. I thought that he would get healed later in the game, but I guess they will save that for ME3 regardless of speaking to this person or not.

Welcome Pho3nix! Come on in, sit down. Let's talk about Thane. We always talk about Thane.

I agree, its the little details you never notice that make each time through great.

You mean the junk email from the hanar preaching about the Enkindlers?

For some reason that just reminded me of Wynne. We need Wynne in ME so she can heal Thane. Or some of Morrigan's voodoo magic. Yes.

I haven't been in here in way too long.

I need to remedy that. Right now.

Ahh, that junk mail. Not gonna lie, I kept it in my inbox so I could read it every so often, see if I could find clues to what would happen in the next game. I'm still upset about Mordin's dialog involving the crew's health--he always just says that everyone's fine, and there's no health problems that could affect the mission.

Uh, Garrus just got hit in the face with a rocket, Mordin. Thane has Kepral's. Shepard was just poisoned by a bartender on Omega. We're all totally fine though, no worries. I doubt that dialog tree will lead to anything, but it's a nice thought!

I get the feeling as long as you have use of your arms, maybe your legs, Mordin won't care too much. Anything less and you'll be subject to a salarian calling you a baby. :>

I mean, the guy got his horn shot off in 'nam. I mean... Tuchanka.

I always find it a bit strange Mordin doesnt mention Thanes condtion at all. If it was a 100% sure bioware would kill him off in ME3 i think perhaps Mordin would have said it was impossible or something. Then again they like to keep us in suspense i suppose.

Happy new year, fellow drell lickers! Have you guys watched this sexy Thane parody video? It's too funny.

Get your Siha on, ladies!
www.youtube.com/watch

Here's hoping for more sexy Thane when ME3 comes out in 2011. I hope Bioware are hard at work on the details for the cure to Kepral's.

So he probably did write it before the suicide mission. I have never picked the dialog where she turns him down. I am curious to know if the letter still appears if you do turn him down.

I never picked the "it's just nerves" option during the love scene but apparently you don't get the letter if you pick that.

Here's what a different poster had to say:'

About the letter - some facts:

You get it after the romance scene (when Thane comes to your room). You don't get the letter if you take the renegade option. You also get the letter if Thane dies on the suicide mission ... if anyone was wondering - I just had to know.

I thought that was interesting.

Thane and Miranda are on 100% lock on my squad. I don't take anyone else. Do you guys do that?

I tend to use Garrus and Miranda a lot at the beginning of the game. It sucks that you have to wait so long to recruit Thane. Once I get Thane, he and Garrus are usually always on my team. I switch it up sometimes but those are the ones I tend to use the most.

From the dossier, it looked like it was Chakwas examining Thane rather than Mordin.  I imagine that Mordin is not the ship's full-time doctor.  He's on hand for anything really dangerous or exotic (like sexings with turians), but the bulk of his time is occupied by the Collectors and the research upgrades.  His job is to keep tabs on the team as a whole in a more general sense, and he probably places a priority on Shepard's health, but Dr. Chakwas probably does more of the nitty gritty examinations.

I suppose thats true, Mordin does all the research stuff. I still think he is a good candidate for a potential cure though. If he had the hanar research. The problem is to make it a good story, not badly written fanfiction. I still have hope!

And not to mention Mordins most important job of helping shepard with her rash or chaving should any develop:D
